Pitcher Grind Down
- Julio Teheran – Teheran owns a 1.83 ERA on the season with a 0.94 WHIP and a K/9 of 7.1. At this point, Teheran is a viable fantasy option almost no matter where he is pitching or who he is facing. I do think there are better options for the price, but I can’t rule him out as a play. Rating = 6
Salaries: $8900 FD, $21851 DS, $19350 DD, $11000 DK, $124600 FF, $30000 SS, $14800 FTD
- Brandon McCarthy – McCarthy has a 5.20 ERA on the season with a 1.33 WHIP. Tonight he faces a Braves’ offense that is ranked 28th against RH pitching. The Braves are also a team that strikes out often. The signs point to McCarthy being a nice GPP play, but I’m not sold on McCarthy just yet. Rating = 4
Salaries: $5700 FD, $13995 DS, $13800 DD, $6700 DK, $60000 FF, $16900 SS, $11300 FTD

Atlanta
Justin Upton – Upton heads back to Arizona to take on his former team. Upton has always hit the ball well in Chase Field and I love the matchup against McCarthy who has given up a .346 wOBA to RHB’s this season.
Additional Plays: Freddie Freeman, Jason Heyward
Arizona
Miguel Montero – Montero has been swinging a hot bat with 6 hits (2 HR’s) in his last 2 games. He has a .369 wOBA against RH pitching this season.
Additional Plays: Paul Goldschmidt

Pitcher Grind Down
- Andre Rienzo – Rienzo is one of the biggest underdogs on the board tonight. He has a 4.26 ERA on the season with a 1.41 WHIP and a K/9 of 7.4. There is little upside here and I will be avoiding him in all leagues as the Angels are ranked 9th against RH pitching this season. Rating = 3
Salaries: $4800 FD, $10414 DS, $11600 DD, $6600 DK, $67500 FF, $16400 SS, $10300 FTD
- Jered Weaver – Weaver may be one of the biggest favorites on the board, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that he is one of the best SP options. He’s given up 8 earned runs over his last 2 outings and he has a tough matchup against the White Sox who are a much different offense now that Jose Abreu is back in the lineup. Rating = 6
Salaries: $7400 FD, $16702 DS, $15200 DD, $8500 DK, $100200 FF, $23000 SS, $13400 FTD

Chicago White Sox
Jose Abreu – Abreu has hit 2 HR’s in his first 3 games since coming back from injury. He now has a .410 wOBA against RH pitching and has as much upside as any player tonight.
Additional Plays: Alexei Ramirez
LA Angels
Josh Hamilton – Rienzo has given up a .337 wOBA to LHB’s this season and Hamilton has been terrific against RH pitching with a wOBA over .400. He’s priced fairly and should see plenty of RBI opportunities batting in the middle of this lineup.
Additional Plays: Albert Pujols, Mike Trout, Kole Calhoun

Pitcher Grind Down
- Tanner Roark – Roark has struggled on the road this season. He has a 5.65 ERA with a 1.22 WHIP in 5 road starts. That said, this road start is quite a bit different as he will be pitching in Petco Park which is the most pitcher-friendly ballpark in baseball. The Padres are ranked 29th against RH pitching this season and Roark makes a terrific play on multi-pitcher sites. Rating = 7
Salaries: $6400 FD, $14557 DS, $14200 DD, $7600 DK, $107500 FF, $20000 SS, $11600 FTD
- Tyson Ross – Ross has been terrific at Petco throughout his career and this season is no different. In his 6 starts at home, he has a 1.54 ERA with 44 K’s over 41 innings of work. Even though the Nationals are finally starting to get healthy, I think Ross throws another gem tonight. Rating = 8
Salaries: $6500 FD, $19201 DS, $15400 DD, $9100 DK, $97600 FF, $24200 SS, $12100 FTD

With games in Coors Field, Chase Field, and Globe Life Park, you don’t need to waste any roster spots on hitters in Petco tonight.

Pitcher Grind Down
- Jonathon Niese – Niese has really pitched well this season. He has a 2.69 ERA with a 1.18 WHIP and a K/9 of 6.6. Tonight he faces a Giants’ offense that is ranked 17th against LH pitching this season. It’s a decent matchup, but he’s a pretty average fantasy option considering all of the top aces taking the mound tonight. Rating = 5
Salaries: $6700 FD, $15332 DS, $12300 DD, $7800 DK, $80500 FF, $21400 SS, $13200 FTD
- Matt Cain – Cain will come off of the DL to face the Mets tonight. I haven’t seen anything about him being on a possible pitch count tonight. He is facing a Mets’ offense that is ranked 26th against RH pitching this season. I have him ranked slightly above Niese, but still think there are better options on the board tonight. Rating = 6
Salaries: $7300 FD, $17422 DS, $16500 DD, $8200 DK, $83400 FF, $21500 SS, $10900 FTD
Batter Grind Down
NY Mets
David Wright – Wright is my lone BvP play of the day. He is 11/25 with 6 doubles against Cain in his career. Wright has always hit RH pitching well and Cain has given up a .322 wOBA to RHB’s.
Additional Plays: Daniel Murphy
San Francisco
Buster Posey – Even though his numbers against lefties are down this season, he has been one of the best hitters against southpaws in baseball over the last few years. Target him at his reduced price tonight against the LHP Niese.
Additional Plays: Hunter Pence, Angel Pagan
