Pitcher Grind Down
- Danny Duffy – Duffy has given up a combined 10 earned runs in his last 2 starts. He gave up more walks (5) than he had strikeouts (3) in his last starts. That’s typically not a stat that I like to see from my starting pitchers. While the Cardinals have not been great against LH pitching this season, they still have some powerful bats in their lineup. I’ll be avoiding Duffy in all leagues. Rating = 5
Salaries: $5000 FD, $9959 DS, $8550 DD, $5600 DK, $68800 FF, $13000 SS, $NA FTD
- Shelby Miller – Miller has a 3.94 ERA on the season with a 1.47 WHIP and a K/9 of 6.8. Last season he was terrific at home with a 1.75 ERA. His matchup against the Royals is decent, but the Royals have struck out fewer times than any team in baseball this season. I think you can expect 6-7 innings, 5-6 K’s, and a couple of earned runs given up. Rating = 6
Salaries: $6900 FD, $13104 DS, $13200 DD, $8000 DK, $79200 FF, $22000 SS, $14900 FTD

Kansas City
Alex Gordon – The wOBA machine is going to like Gordon a lot tonight. Miller has given up a .349 wOBA to LHB’s this season and Gordon has a .348 wOBA against RH pitching. Gordon is also swinging a hot bat with 12 hits over his last 10 games.
Additional Plays: Eric Hosmer
St. Louis
Allen Craig – Craig has been my go-to cheap play in the OF over the past couple of weeks and it has really paid off, especially when he has been matched up against a LH pitcher. Craig has a .380 wOBA against southpaws this season with an OPS of .892.
Additional Plays: Yadier Molina, Matt Holliday, Jhonny Peralta

Pitcher Grind Down
- Charlie Morton – Morton has a nice matchup tonight against the Padres in Petco Park which has surrendered the fewest runs of any ballpark in baseball this season. Morton has a 3.29 ERA on the road this season with a 1.29 WHIP and a K/9 of 6.0. While the Padres are finally getting healthy, they are still ranked dead last against RH pitching this season with a team .285 wOBA. Rating = 7
Salaries: $5300 FD, $12958 DS, $11800 DD, $7900 DK, $73600 FF, $18600 SS, $12700 FTD
- Tim Stauffer – Even though this is a pretty decent spot for Stauffer, he is not a recommended fantasy option. His maximum pitch count this season has been 77 pitches and he has yet to pitch more than 5 innings in any start. He has extremely limited upside and will have a tough time picking up the win. Rating = 4
Salaries: $4000 FD, $12855 DS, $9550 DD, $5300 DK, $64000 FF, $13000 SS, $ FTD

Pittsburgh
Andrew McCutchen – McCutchen is coming off of a big night last night and is in play again tonight against the Padres. He has a .370 wOBA against RH pitching this season and a matchup against Stauffer who has given up a .352 wOBA to RHB’s.
Additional Plays: Neil Walker, Josh Harrison
San Diego
Seth Smith – Smith is having a terrific season. He has been crushing RH pitching with a .432 wOBA and an OPS of 1.01. He has a nice matchup against the RHP Morton who has given up a .340 wOBA to LHB’s this season.
Additional Plays: Everth Cabrera, Chase Headley, Will Venable

Pitcher Grind Down
- Jose Quintana – Quintana could make a very deep sleeper pick tonight. With Kershaw pitching for the Dodgers, there aren’t going to be many eyes on Quintana. That said, he has a 3.61 ERA with a K/9 of 7.3. He is facing a Dodgers’ offense that is ranked 29th against LH pitching this season with a team .287 wOBA. He’s not a great cash game option, but could really pay off in a GPP if he could get a run or two of support. Rating = 5
Salaries: $6100 FD, $15287 DS, $13650 DD, $7500 DK, $77600 FF, $20800 SS, $11600 FTD
- Clayton Kershaw – Kershaw is the top pitcher available tonight. He has one of the highest K-rates in baseball and has the potential to throw complete games every time he takes the mound. The White Sox are ranked 21st against LH pitching this season and Kershaw should be targeted in all leagues if you can afford him. Rating = 10
Salaries: $10000 FD, $24947 DS, $21550 DD, $12400 DK, $116300 FF, $31500 SS, $18900 FTD
Batter Grind Down
Chicago White Sox
Even though Clayton Kershaw has been knocked around by a few teams this season, I will not be targeting any hitters against him tonight. He’s still the best pitcher in baseball.
LA Dodgers
Scott Van Slyke – Van Slyke has been one of the few Dodgers’ bats that has hit LH pitching well this season. He has a very impressive .482 wOBA against LH pitching this season. He should be batting in the middle of the order tonight against the LHP Quintana.
Additional Plays: Hanley Ramirez, Yasiel Puig
