Pitcher Grind Down
- Jake Peavy – Despite the fact that his team has lost ten consecutive games in which he’s started, Peavy still has at least a little bit of fantasy appeal today with his new team. Ryan Vogelsong shut down this Mets team last night who own just a .298 wOBA as a team against right-handed pitching and Citi Field has proven to be one of the more pitcher friendly ballparks in MLB. The move from the AL East to the National League should make a huge difference for Peavy and he’s in play today on multi-pitcher sites. Rating = 5
Salaries: $6500 FD, $12750 DD, $6900 DK, $56000 FF, $15600 SS, $12750 FTD
- Jacob deGrom – DeGrom has rattled off four straight victories and has been extremely impressive in doing so, posting a 0.66 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 30 strikeouts in 27.1 innings. He sports a 1.83 ERA in six starts this season at Citi Field and is yet still well underpriced on several sites. The Giants have really struggled this season against right-handed pitching (.297 wOBA) so deGrom which makes deGrom a solid option. Rating = 6
Salaries: $8200 FD, $15950 DD, $9800 DK, $135400 FF, $27800 SS, $15950 FTD

San Francisco
deGrom has been rolling lately and I will not be targeting any SFG bats today.
NY Mets
Lucas Duda – He may be the hottest hitter in baseball right now, as he went deep again last night and now has hit six longballs over his last nine games. Lefties have posted a .366 wOBA against Peavy this season and Duda owns a .958 OPS against right-handed pitching this season.
Additional Plays: Daniel Murphy, Curtis Granderson, David Wright

Pitcher Grind Down
- Kyle Lohse – Lohse will take on his old team again today at Busch Stadium and there has been some bad blood in the past here. He’ll bring a very impressive 11-5 record and 3.07 ERA into tonight’s game. He pitched admirably against the Cards earlier this season, but St. Louis did rough him up last season. Regardless, this is a St. Louis lineup that can’t seem to muster much offense so the only thing against Lohse are his mediocre strikeout numbers. Rating = 6
Salaries: $7500 FD, $16400 DD, $8500 DK, $114900 FF, $22300 SS, $16400 FTD
- Justin Masterson – The newly acquired Masterson will make his Cardinals debut tonight in an important battle against the Central Division Brewers. He’s had a very forgettable season thus far and hasn’t seen the mound for a month, but the move to the National League should certainly help him. He did win 14 games, post a 3.45 ERA and make an all-star team last season, so we know the talent is there. The Cardinals have a way of “fixing” pitchers so I’m optimistic that we’ll see immediate improvement…. but i’ll take a wait-and-see approach. Rating = 5
Salaries: $6200 FD, $10150 DD, $6000 DK, $45600 FF, $15500 SS, $10150 FTD
Batter Grind Down
Milwaukee
Scooter Gennett – Make sure he’s in the lineup as he’s dealing with a finger injury, but if so he’s worth a look for two reasons; 1) Lefties have crushed Masterson to the tune of a .408 wOBA this season and, 2) Scooter owns a .376 wOBA against right-handed pitching.
Additional Plays: Carlos Gomez, Ryan Braun, Jonathan Lucroy
St. Louis
Matt Adams – Matt Adams owns a .391 wOBA against right-handed pitching this season and has had success in the past against Lohse. He’s still underpriced on several sites and well worth consideration in those cases
Additional Plays: Matt Carpenter, Kolten Wong

Pitcher Grind Down
- Vance Worley – Worley enters tonight game fresh off of a complete game shutout of the San Francisco Giants that lowered his to 2.54 on the season. His rough 2013 seems to have soured his image a bit, but it was only three years ago when he posted an 11-3 record with a 3.01 ERA for the Phillies. He pitched quite well against the Diamondbacks earlier this season (7 innings, 4 hits, 3 runs and six strikeouts) but things will be a bit tougher tonight with this game in hitter friendly Chase Field. Rating = 5
Salaries: $6100 FD, $12700 DD, $7200 DK, $58100 FF, $21700 SS, $12700 FTD
- Chase Anderson – Anderson has been a pleasant surprise for the Diamondbacks this season, posting a 6-4 record and 3.34 ERA through 12 starts. He’s been particularly sharp lately, owning a 1.89 ERA and racking up 21 strikeouts in 19 innings over his last three starts. However, he’ll square off against a Pittsburgh team that ranks #7th in MLB in wOBA against right-handed pitching (.326 wOBA) and who knocked Anderson around when they met earlier this month. Anderson hasn’t been quite as effective at home this season, but it’s hard to completely ignore his recent success. Rating = 5
Salaries: $6700 FD, $13500 DD, $6600 DK, $95200 FF, $18800 SS, $13500 FTD

Pittsburgh
Gregory Polanco – Polanco collected two more hits last night and will square off against a pitcher who he’s 2 for 2 with a double and a homerun off of this season.
Additional Plays: Andrew McCutchen, Josh Harrison
Arizona
Didi Gregorius – Gregorius has posted a 1.027 OPS over the last week and owns a .377 wOBA against right-handed pitching.
Additional Plays: David Peralta, Paul Goldschmidt

Pitcher Grind Down
- Ervin Santana – Ervin Santana once again wins the “matchup lottery” today as he’ll face this San Diego Padres lineup for the second time this week, only this time in Petco Park. He dominated the Padres in his last outing, tossing eight shutout innings and fanning 11 batters and has now racked up double-digit strikeouts in each of his last two apperances. The Padres rank near the bottom of MLB in nearly every relevant hitting catagory and with Santana over his mid-season struggles, he’s one of the best options on the board tonight. Rating = 7.5
Salaries: $9000 FD, $16500 DD, $9100 DK, $105300 FF, $25100 SS, $16500 FTD
- Ian Kennedy – After missing a start due to an oblique injury, Kennedy will return to the mound tonight to take on the Atlanta Braves at Petco Park. He’ll bring a very respectable 3.66 ERA and 1.22 WHIP into tonight’s game and his 3.29 xFIP suggests an improvement is quiet possible. Surprisingly, his ERA sits a full point higher at home (4.18) than on the road this season. The potential for the oblique injury to linger is a concern, but the Braves rank #27th in MLB in wOBA against right-handed pitching and also strikeout with regularity (22.2% K%) and Kennedy has amassed 143 strikeouts in just 135.1 innings. Rating = 6.5
Salaries: $7600 FD, $15600 DD, $8300 DK, $97800 FF, $24000 SS, $15600 FTD

Atlanta
Freddie Freeman – If you’re a fan of BvsP than you’ll be a fan of Freddie Freeman today as he has crushed Ian Kennedy in his career to the tune of 5 for 8 with a double, a homerun and seven RBI’s. Freeman owns a .372 wOBA against right-handed pitching.
Additional Plays: Jason Heyward
San Diego
Santana rolled through this lineup last night and, with an over/under of just 6, there are better options out there.

Pitcher Grind Down
- Tsuyoshi Wada – Wada has had mixed results during his breif time with the Cubs, but all-in-all he’s been rather impressive. In three starts he’s posted a 3.38 ERA and struck out 13 batters in 16 innings and was extremely effective in the PCL, posting a 2.77 ERA and 9.50 K’s/9 for the Iowa Cubs . He’ll take on a Dodgers team today that is hitting just .230 against left-handed pitching this season, so he’s a viable option as a GPP flier if the price is right. Rating = 4.5
Salaries: $5800 FD, $10050 DD, $5900 DK, $71300 FF, $17600 SS, $10050 FTD
- Hyun-Jin Ryu – Ryu has bounced back from a terrible start in Detroit and recorded quality starts in each of his last three games. He sports a healthy 12-5 record to go along with a 3.44 ERA through twenty starts. He’ll likely be a popular pick today (and for good reason) but there are some red flags here; 1) The Cubs rank #4 in the league in wOBA against left-handed pitching and 2) He hasn’t been quite as good at Dodger Stadium. Rating = 6.5
Salaries: $8300 FD, $15950 DD, $9400 DK, $98400 FF, $26400 SS, $15950 FTD
Batter Grind Down
Chicago Cubs
Chris Coghlan – Coghlan has strung together three straight multi-hit games and it thriving in the #2 spot of the Cubs order. He owns a .318 batting average since the all-star break and sports a very impressive (yet limited sample size) .477 wOBA against left-handed pitching
Additional Plays: Anthony Rizzo, Starlin Castro
LA Dodgers
Hanley Ramirez – With Tulo on the shelf, Hanley takes over at the most dangerous shortstop in fantasy. He owns a .907 OPS against left-handed pitching this season and gets a crack at the Cubs unproved southpaw Tsuyoshi Wada.
Additional Plays: Yasiel Puig, Matt Kemp
