Pitcher Grind Down
- Miguel Gonzalez – Gonzalez has been decent on the year with a sub 4.00 ERA, but has allowed a lot of baserunners (1.41 WHIP). He does not strikeout enough batters (6.89 K/9) to help fantasy value and allows way to many home runs (17 in 17 starts). He does not make a good fantasy start today. Rating = 4
Salaries: $6100 FD, $NA DS, $12150 DD, $6300 DK, $82400 FF, $19000 SS, $12150 FTD
- Roenis Elias – Elias has been a bit hit or miss on the year and has an overall 4.41 ERA. Prior to a great start against the Mets in his last outing, he had allowed 16 earned runs in his 3 previous starts combined. He now has to take on a lot of good RH bats of the Orioles and should be avoided today. Rating = 4
Salaries: $6300 FD, $ DS, $13250 DD, $7600 DK, $65400 FF, $22000 SS, $13250 FTD
Batter Grind Down
Baltimore
Adam Jones – It is a Jones day as he gets to take on the young lefty starter. He has a ridiculous .517 wOBA against lefties on the year and is in a great spot to go deep today.
Additional Plays: Nelson Cruz Steve Pearce Delmon Young
Seattle
Robinson Cano – The biggest bat on this Mariners team is clearly in play today against Gonzalez who is allowing lefties a wOBA of .358 on the year. His home run problems should arise again today and Cano is my best bet to go yard for the Mariners.
Additional Plays: Kyle Seager Kendrys Morales*

Pitcher Grind Down
- Edinson Volquez – Volquez has a decent 3.86 ERA on the year, but now has to go into Coors and take on some of their good lefty bats in the best hitters park in the league. He is an easy avoid today. Rating = 3
Salaries: $6800 FD, $NA DS, $13850 DD, $6300 DK, $91800 FF, $20600 SS, $13850 FTD
- Franklin Morales – Morales has been awful for the Rockies on the year and has a 5.21 ERA with a 1.56 WHIP. Even though this Pirates offense has devastated the DFS community, I think Morales gets rocked today. Avoid him in all formats. Rating = 2
Salaries: $5400 FD, $ DS, $9850 DD, $5500 DK, $62700 FF, $13000 SS, $ FTD
Batter Grind Down
Pittsburgh
Andrew McCutchen – All the numbers all series long have pointed to Cutch tearing the cover off the ball in Coors. He has down absolutely nothing. Hopefully this will frustrate some people and will be a bit less owned, but has a great matchup against Morales who has allowed a wOBA of .400 to RH bats.
Additional Plays: Jordy Mercer Josh Harrison Russell Martin Neil Walker
Colorado
Corey Dickerson – Any time the Rockies are in Coors against a righty, Dickerson becomes a great play. He continues to mash righties for a wOBA of .447 and, unlike the Pirates, Dickerson has been hitting well recently (5 extra base hits in last 4 games).
Additional Plays: Charlie Blackmon Carlos Gonzalez Nolan Arenado

Pitcher Grind Down
- Eric Stults – Stults has been awful this year. He has a 5.00 ERA on the year, a 3-12 record and a 1.46 WHIP. He is an easy avoid even against the strikeout heavy Braves squad. Rating = 3
Salaries: $5700 FD, $NA DS, $9650 DD, $6600 DK, $55800 FF, $15000 SS, $9650 FTD
- Mike Minor – Minor has the best matchup on the board today, but is coming off a few terrible performances against poor teams such as the Marlins, Cubs, Astros, and Mets. He now holds a 5.32 ERA on the season, but is still in play due to the Padres being his opponent. I still would not put him in play in cash games today. Rating = 6
Salaries: $6600 FD, $ DS, $12100 DD, $7400 DK, $61000 FF, $20300 SS, $12100 FTD
Batter Grind Down
San Diego
The total is still set at 7’ with Stults on the mound for the Padres. That screams that Minor has a decent start today and I will be avoiding the Padres bats.
Atlanta
Justin Upton – There are a few OF that have unbelievable matchups and Upton is right up there. He has a wOBA of .476 against LH pitching and gets Stults who has struggled against RH batters (.369 wOBA).
Additional Plays: B.J. Upton Chris Johnson

Pitcher Grind Down
- Scott Kazmir – Kazmir continues to dominate teams each and every start. He has allowed only 3 earned runs in his last 4 starts since getting hit hard by the Mets. In those 4 starts he has also faced the Blue Jays and Tigers. He still has a sub 1.00 WHIP, with a 2.32 ERA on the year. He backs this up with a decent 8.25 K/9. The game today has a very high total, but a lot should be put up by this A’s offense. He is a great option today and my favorite starter. Rating = 9
Salaries: $9300 FD, $NA DS, $19300 DD, $9000 DK, $140800 FF, $28000 SS, $19300 FTD
- Miles Mikolas – Mikolas has struggled in his first 4 starts of the year and has a 7+ ERA. He now has to step in against a high-powered offense as a huge underdog. Avoid him in all contests. Rating = 2
Salaries: $5300 FD, $ DS, $8950 DD, $5200 DK, $58000 FF, $13000 SS, $ FTD
Batter Grind Down
Oakland
Brandon Moss – We all know the numbers at this point, but Moss crushes right handed pitching. He is a top 1st base option today.
Additional Plays: Coco Crisp Jed Lowrie Stephen Vogt* John Jaso
Texas
Kazmir has been too hot of a pitcher. Rios is a decent GPP play, but I will be avoiding them today.
LA Dodgers at San Francisco

Pitcher Grind Down
- Hyun-Jin Ryu – Ryu has a 3.39 ERA on the year and a 1.21 WHIP. He has been good, but faces a tough opponent in the Giants who have put up 8 total runs in 9 innings against Ryu. Due to this, his value is dropped and there are better options at his price point today. Rating = 5
Salaries: $8200 FD, $NA DS, $15700 DD, $9300 DK, $95400 FF, $25800 SS, $15700 FTD
- Jake Peavy – Getting back to the NL is exactly what Peavy probably needs to turn his season around. In the AL, he was terrible this year with 4.72 ERA and 1.43 WHIP. He continues to K at a 7.26 K/9 rate which should increase now that he gets to face a pitcher each game. I will be avoiding him today, but he could go out and try to prove his worth against the Dodgers.
Salaries: $6500 FD, $ DS, $12650 DD, $ DK, $64200 FF, $17000 SS, $12650 FTD
Batter Grind Down
LA Dodgers
Adrian Gonzalez – Peavy has allowed lefties to hit him very well this year (wOBA of .370) and AGON has a good history against Peavy (4/11, 2 home runs).
Additional Plays: Yasiel Puig Carl Crawford Dee Gordon
San Francisco
Buster Posey – As I stated above, this Giants team has hit Ryu very hard this year. Posey should be in the thick of it today if that trend continues as a top catching option any time he faces a lefty.
Additional Plays: Hunter Pence Pablo Sandoval
