Pitcher Grind Down
- Danny Salazar – We continue to believe that Salazar will turn things around and a stint in the minors may have helped him this year. He has an overall 5.12 ERA, but came back to allow only 1 earned run to the Twins last week. His strikeouts will always be there (10.45 K/9), but he needs to keep baserunners off the base pads today (1.64 WHIP). If he can do that, he makes a great option, but a lot of risk is involved today. Rating = 5
Salaries: $7100 FD, $NA DS, $12750 DD, $7200 DK, $83500 FF, $21700 SS, $12750 FTD
- Bruce Chen – Just when we thought old man Chen was done, he makes two decent starts in a row. He will try to make it three against a lefty heavy offense of the Indians. He has an overall 5.80 ERA and 1.63 WHIP on the year. He will likely only make it to the 5th inning and could be in store for a lot of runs against him. Avoid. Rating = 3
Salaries: $6000 FD, $ DS, $9850 DD, $5900 DK, $77100 FF, $13400 SS, $9850 FTD
Batter Grind Down
Cleveland
Carlos Santana – Santana is an extremely hot bat at the moment. In his last 5 games, he has 4 home runs, 3 doubles and 11 hits overall. He is one of my favorite plays on the day and should be used across the board.
Additional Plays: Michael Brantley Ryan Raburn Yan Gomes Mike Aviles
Kansas City
Salvador Perez – Perez makes a decent GPP option today against Salazar who has allowed a wOBA of .373 against righties on the year. Perez has hit righties for over .300 and a wOBA of .355.
Additional Plays: Alex Gordon Billy Butler

Pitcher Grind Down
- Jacob Turner – Turner has made 18 appearances on the year and has a very high 6.03 ERA and 1.59 WHIP to show for it. He will not go deep into games as 82 pitches is his highest count in his last 10 appearances. He is not a fantasy option in any format today. Rating = 3
Salaries: $5200 FD, $NA DS, $9150 DD, $5700 DK, $69100 FF, $13600 SS, $9150 FTD
- Collin McHugh – McHugh has not made a start since July 6th and will be looking to regain that great form he had early in the season. It is always tough to start a guy who is coming off a two month stint on the DL, but we did see what he is capable of early in the year. The Marlins strike out the most in the league against RH pitchers, making him a decent GPP option. Rating = 6
Salaries: $7100 FD, $ DS, $17000 DD, $7900 DK, $65900 FF, $22800 SS, $ FTD
Batter Grind Down
Miami
Christian Yelich – Yelich has a wOBA of .349 against RH pitching this year. He makes a good option as he has multi hit games in 5 of his last 8 games.
Additional Plays: Giancarlo Stanton Jarrod Saltalamacchia
Houston
Jose Altuve – A lot of the Astros bats are in play today, but Altuve continues to be the most consistent. Leading off for the Astros, Altuve takes on Turner who has allowed righties to hit for a .337 AVG on the year.
Additional Plays: Chris Carter Jason Castro Jonathan Singleton

Pitcher Grind Down
- Jacob deGrom – This matchup pits two young pitchers against each other today. deGrom has been very good in his last 6 starts as he has allowed only 7 earned runs during that time. He has a nice 8.81 K/9 to add to his fantasy value today as well. He has a tough matchup against a lot of power bats in a hitters park which depresses some of that value today. His price has also risen to a point where he is in play against better matchups, but only for GPPs today. Rating = 6
Salaries: $8000 FD, $NA DS, $15400 DD, $9500 DK, $123700 FF, $27200 SS, $15400 FTD
- Jimmy Nelson – Nelson has now made 3 starts and has given up 3, 6 and 0 earned runs. He will look to attempt to shut down the poor offense of the Mets today in Miller Park where he has made his last two starts. He is a big favorite today and continues to be cheap, making him a decent GPP option. Rating = 6

NY Mets
Lucas Duda – Duda is really heating up and has crushed righties all year. On the year, he has a .401 wOBA against righties and has 3 home runs in his last 5 games.
Additional Plays: Curtis Granderson David Wright
Milwaukee
Carlos Gomez – Gomez has had a great year and will look to continue it against the young righty today. He has a .396 wOBA against righties this year, but makes a GPP only option for me today, due to Degrom’s recent pitching.
Additional Plays: Jonathan Lucroy Ryan Braun

Pitcher Grind Down
- Adam Wainwright – There is a real lack of pitching options today, especially for a full Sunday slate. We have one of the top aces on the board going today against one of the worst offenses. The only problem is Waino’s 6.00 ERA in 3 starts against this Cubs squad. If you think this continues, than his salary is way too high to pay up for. I think Wainwright will turn that around today as a big favorite on the board. His 2.02 ERA and .95 WHIP is just too good to get hit hard against this Cubs squad again. He is the best pitcher on the board today. Rating = 9
Salaries: $10300 FD, $NA DS, $20950 DD, $10500 DK, $127500 FF, $29500 SS, $20950 FTD
- Kyle Hendricks – Hendricks really impressed in his recent outing against the punchless Padres. He went 7 innings of 5 hit ball with 5 strikeouts. I will be waiting to play him until after this start as a start against the Padres is almost meaningless these days. He is very cheap, so if you want to roll the dice, he could make a good GPP option today. Rating = 6
Salaries: $5600 FD, $ DS, $13950 DD, $6700 DK, $64000 FF, $17600 SS, $13950 FTD
Batter Grind Down
St. Louis
Matt Adams – Adams is a nice option today as he is coming off a 4 RBI game with a triple and a double. He continues to mash righties for a wOBA of .403 on the year and will look to get to the young righty today.
Additional Plays: Matt Carpenter Matt Holliday
Chicago Cubs
Luis Valbuena – Clearly, some of these Cubs have hit Waino hard. Rizzo is a great GPP option today, but is so high priced, that he is tough to play against Wainwright. A nice cheaper option is the lefty Valbuena who is 7/17 with 5 extra base hits against Waino.
Additional Plays: Anthony Rizzo

Pitcher Grind Down
- Rick Porcello – Porcello has been a bit up and down on the year and has a 3.42 ERA and a 1.16 WHIP to show for it. He now has to take on a hot hitting Angels squad that is top ten in the league in wOBA against RH pitching. Due to the matchup, Porcello is a tough start. Rating = 5
Salaries: $7300 FD, $NA DS, $14400 DD, $6800 DK, $93400 FF, $21200 SS, $14400 FTD
- Hector Santiago – Santiago has been in and out of the bullpen this year, but will be making a start against the Tigers today. He has a 4.02 ERA on the year and an 8.29 K/9. This matchup is very tough for him as the Tigers have so many good RH power bats that will be tough for Santiago to avoid today. Rating = 3
Salaries: $5800 FD, $ DS, $11400 DD, $6100 DK, $72500 FF, $16000 SS, $11400 FTD
Batter Grind Down
Detroit
Victor Martinez – It is funny to put someone other than Miggy here against a lefty. Miggy is a top option today as well, but for a bit cheaper, VMart is crushing against lefties. He has a wOBA of .497 against them and should be in line for plenty of RBI opportunities.
Additional Plays: Miguel Cabrera Torii Hunter J.D. Martinez Austin Jackson
LA Angels
Kole Calhoun – I continue to enjoy playing Calhoun against RH pitching and he gets a decent matchup against Porcello today. Calhoun is hitting .297 with a SLG of .507 against righties on the year. Hitting leadoff, he is in line to score a runs with Trout behind him each time he gets on base.
Additional Plays: Mike Trout
