Pitcher Grind Down
- Doug Fister – Fister has really pitched well for the Nationals this season. He is boasting a 2.65 ERA, a 1.05 WHIP, and a K/9 of 5.7. He certainly doesn’t waste any time on the mound as he is ready to throw the next pitch as soon as the ball hits his glove. Tonight he faces a Cubs’ offense that is ranked 29th against RH pitching this season and a team that strikes out at a 22% clip against righties. It looks like the wind is blowing in at Wrigley which only backs his cause even more. Rating = 8
Salaries: $8000 FD, $17199 DS, $17200 DD, $9000 DK, $98100 FF, $24500 SS, $16300 FTD
- Travis Wood – Wood is a great tournament play tonight, but an easy pitcher to avoid in cash games. He has great stuff and has all the makings of a great LH pitcher, but he struggles with consistency and he’s giving up way too many free base passes to his opponents. He has always had a nice K-rate which could pay off nicely in a GPP. Rating = 5
Salaries: $7100 FD, $12646 DS, $10900 DD, $6500 DK, $75700 FF, $17900 SS, $10900 FTD

Chicago Cubs
Even on a short slate, there aren’t any Cubs’ bats that stand out tonight. Fister has managed to keep both LHB’s and RHB’s in check this season and the wind is blowing in. Target the Fister side of this matchup.

Pitcher Grind Down
- Rick Porcello – Porcello is having another quality season for the Tigers. He has a 3.76 ERA with a 1.24 WHIP and a K/9 of 5.7. The good news is that Porcello should see plenty of run support with Martinez pitching opposite him, the bad news is that he is facing a quality Rangers’ offense in the hitter-friendly Globe Life Park. He may be in line for the win, but I expect him to give up a few earned runs in the process. Rating = 5
Salaries: $7000 FD, $12121 DS, $13400 DD, $7300 DK, $84800 FF, $20400 SS, $13400 FTD
- Nick Martinez – Martinez is not a recommended fantasy option tonight. He is facing a red hot Tigers’ offense in a very hitter-friendly ballpark. He is the underdog in a game that features a total of 10.0 runs. Rating = 2
Salaries: $5100 FD, $7778 DS, $8950 DD, $5300 DK, $43000 FF, $13000 SS, $8950 FTD

Detroit
J.D. Martinez – Martinez continued his incredible streak with another HR in last night’s win over the Rangers. He now has 17 hits (6 HR’s) and 16 RBI’s over his last 10 games. Those numbers would be good over an entire month of play. Continue targeting Martinez, especially on sites that have yet to adjust his price.
Additional Plays: Victor Martinez, Miguel Cabrera, Alex Avila
Texas
Shin-Soo Choo – One theme has been common throughout Porcello’s career and that’s that he has struggled against LH hitters. Choo has a .344 wOBA against RH pitching and his price is depressed across the industry.
Additional Plays: Elvis Andrus, Adrian Beltre, Alex Rios

Pitcher Grind Down
- Christian Friedrich – Friedrich gave up 4 earned runs to the Brewers in his first major league start since 2012. He is a young LHP that is not a highly touted prospect. He struggled in the minors and is expected to struggle in the majors as well. He is facing the Brewers again tonight and I expect a similar result. Rating = 3
Salaries: $4600 FD, $10845 DS, $8450 DD, $5000 DK, $67000 FF, $13000 SS, $8450 FTD
- Wily Peralta – Peralta has pitched well this season. In 15 starts this season, he has a 3.02 ERA with a 1.23 WHIP and a K/9 of 6.5. Even though this game is not in Coors, it is still in the hitter-friendly Miller Park. There are better options in Peralta’s price range. Rating = 5
Salaries: $7400 FD, $14222 DS, $13750 DD, $7200 DK, $98700 FF, $21400 SS, $13750 FTD

Colorado
Corey Dickerson – All of the Rockies’ numbers are inflated thanks to Coors Field, but it’s hard to ignore the .484 wOBA Dickerson has against RH pitching this season. Peralta has given up a .334 wOBA to LHB’s since the start of 2013.
Additional Plays: Charlie Blackmon, Troy Tulowitzki
Milwaukee
Carlos Gomez – The Brewers may be the stack of the night. Friedrich has not pitched well this season and many of these Brewers’ bats feast on LH pitching. It also doesn’t hurt that Braun, Lucroy, and Ramirez all got the day off yesterday and should be well rested for tonight’s contest.
Additional Plays: Jonathan Lucroy, Ryan Braun, Khris Davis, Aramis Ramirez

Pitcher Grind Down
- Adam Wainwright – Wainwright is making a nice case for the Cy Young. He is 10-3 this season with a 2.08 ERA and a K/9 of 8.2. He will have his hands full tonight though as the Dodgers are ranked 6th against RH pitching this season with a team .332 wOBA. While I do think he will pitch well here, I’m not sure I will be spending up to take him. Rating = 8
Salaries: $11000 FD, $23313 DS, $21050 DD, $11300 DK, $134100 FF, $30700 SS, $21050 FTD
- Josh Beckett – Beckett is having one of the best comeback seasons in the majors. After posting back to back seasons with an ERA over 4.50, he has posted a 2.28 ERA through his first 14 starts in 2014. Tonight he faces a Cardinals’ offense that is ranked 18th against RH pitching this season. Run support may be hard to come by though and his price has reached a season high on most sites. For the price, I think there are better options. Rating = 6
Salaries: $8600 FD, $18426 DS, $17850 DD, $9300 DK, $95800 FF, $27200 SS, $17850 FTD
Batter Grind Down
St. Louis / L.A. Dodgers
This game features the lowest total of the night at only 6.5 runs. Both of these pitchers have been dominant this season and I’ll likely be avoiding both offenses completely in this one.

Pitcher Grind Down
- Mike Leake – Leake has been good, but not great this season. He has a 3.59 ERA with a 1.19 WHIP and a K/9 of 6.5. He travels to San Francisco to take on a Giants’ offense that is ranked 16th against RH pitching. Leake is a decent option tonight, especially on DS where he is under $13k. Rating = 6
Salaries: $7800 FD, $12349 DS, $12500 DD, $7500 DK, $84300 FF, $20800 SS, $12750 FTD
- Ryan Vogelsong – In his last 5 starts, Vogelsong has given up a combined 19 earned runs while only striking out 25 batters. He’s not getting enough K’s to make up for the runs that he is giving up. While he has pitched well at home this season, I think he is a risky option tonight against the Reds who are finally at full strength. Rating = 5
Salaries: $5800 FD, $14432 DS, $13050 DD, $7400 DK, $64800 FF, $20500 SS, $13050 FTD
Batter Grind Down
Cincinnati
Joey Votto – Since the start of 2013 Vogelsong has given up a .338 wOBA to LHB’s. Votto has always hit RH pitching well and is swinging a hot bat with 10 hits over his last 10 games.
Additional Plays: Todd Frazier, Billy Hamilton, Jay Bruce
San Francisco
Pablo Sandoval – The Panda has a nice matchup against Leake who struggles against LHB’s. Pablo has really been good against RH pitching this season and also has a great track record off of Leake as he is 11/17 with 2 HR’s.
Additional Plays: Hunter Pence, Buster Posey
