Pitcher Grind Down
- Tyson Ross – The Rockies only managed to muster up 1 earned run against Ian Kennedy last night, but I expect a much better outing from them tonight. The total for this game is set at 10.5 runs and I have a hard time seeing the Rockies struggle two nights in a row. Rating = 3
Salaries: $7400 FD, $16868 DS, $15750 DD, $8700 DK, $108800 FF, $24500 SS, $16400 FTD
- Franklin Morales – Even though this Padres’ offense is the worst in baseball, they are actually in a pretty decent spot tonight. Morales is a below average LH pitcher that will be pitching in the most hitter-friendly ballpark in baseball. Avoid both pitchers in this one. Rating = 3
Salaries: $5100 FD, $8308 DS, $9850 DD, $5200 DK, $55500 FF, $13000 SS, $ FTD
Batter Grind Down
San Diego
Chase Headley – Headley has a nice game last night in Coors. He went 4/5 with 2 RBI’s and 2 runs. He’s one of the cheapest 3B options available and should be able to easily pay off his salary.
Additional Plays: Tommy Medica, Carlos Quentin, Rene Rivera
Colorado
Corey Dickerson – Dickerson had a rough game last night, but should bounce back nicely tonight. He is leading the Rockies with a .466 wOBA against RH pitching this season and should be batting 5th again tonight.
Additional Plays: Troy Tulowitzki, Justin Morneau, Wilin Rosario

Pitcher Grind Down
- Brad Hand – Hand will be making his 4th start of the season. Over the last 3 years, he has posted an ERA of 4.45 and he has been very vulnerable to RH batters. The Diamondbacks may not hit LH pitching well as a team, but have a few bats in their lineup that feast on LH pitching. I’m expecting a lot of runs scored from the D-Backs tonight. Rating = 3
Salaries: $5000 FD, $11622 DS, $8650 DD, $5500 DK, $61000 FF, $13000 SS, $NA FTD
- Vidal Nuno – Nuno will be making his first start as a member of the Diamondbacks. While he will now be pitching in the NL, I’m not sure that his prospects have changed much. He owns a 5.42 ERA on the season with a 1.44 WHIP. This may be the night to spend up on pitching as there are few value options that have good matchups. Rating = 4
Salaries: $5400 FD, $9099 DS, $11100 DD, $5900 DK, $49800 FF, $13900 SS, $11100 FTD
Batter Grind Down
Miami
Giancarlo Stanton – Stanton had the worst fantasy outing possible last night (if you play on a site that negates for strikeouts). He went 0/4 with 4 strikeouts. You have to move on from that though and look at his matchup tonight against Nuno. Stanton crushes LH pitching and should be considered the top overall play in the OF.
Additional Plays: Jarrod Saltalamacchia
Arizona
Paul Goldschmidt – This game features two of the best hitters in baseball against LH pitching in Stanton and Goldschmidt. Both make terrific plays. Goldy has a .432 wOBA against southpaws this season and has to be one of the odds on favorites to hit a HR tonight.
Additional Plays: Martin Prado, Aaron Hill

Pitcher Grind Down
- Madison Bumgarner – This game should be a pitcher’s duel. Bumgarner has a 3.09 ERA on the season with a 1.20 WHIP and a K/9 of 9.6. I expect him to pitch well tonight, but this A’s offense likes to make it tough on opposing pitchers. They like to work the count and they draw more walks than any team in baseball. At his price point, I think it makes more sense to pay a little extra for Tanaka or Teheran. Rating = 7
Salaries: $9200 FD, $19242 DS, $17800 DD, $9800 DK, $95800 FF, $27400 SS, $18400 FTD
- Sonny Gray – Gray makes a nice play on multi-pitcher sites. There are better option on single pitcher sites just because there is no guarantee that he will see any run support with Bumgarner on the mound for the Giants. Gray has pitched well at home throughout his career and is coming off of his best start in a month. It also doesn’t hurt that the Giants’ bats have been ice cold of late. Rating = 7
Salaries: $8600 FD, $17362 DS, $15400 DD, $8100 DK, $95800 FF, $23400 SS, $15400 FTD
Batter Grind Down
San Francisco / Oakland
With Bumgarner and Gray on the mound, I suggest avoiding all bats in this game. I wouldn’t be surprised if this game ends up being 2-1.

Pitcher Grind Down
- R.A. Dickey – Once again Dickey takes the mound and once again, he’s a deep GPP option at best. His K-rate is down this season (averaging 7.5 per 9 innings) and he has given up at least 2 earned runs in each of his last 10 starts. Tonight he faces an Angels’ offense that is ranked 7th in wOBA against RH pitching this season. Rating = 4
Salaries: $7500 FD, $14609 DS, $13350 DD, $7800 DK, $76300 FF, $21100 SS, $13350 FTD
- Tyler Skaggs – Skaggs is an interesting play tonight. He’s had 4 quality starts in his last 7 outings and has a pretty decent matchup against the Blue Jays who have struggled to score runs on the road this season. It also doesn’t hurt that Edwin Encarnacion may be out of the lineup again tonight. Rating = 5
Salaries: $6300 FD, $12807 DS, $13450 DD, $7400 DK, $77900 FF, $20400 SS, $13450 FTD
Batter Grind Down
Toronto
Jose Reyes – I’m not too high on the Blue Jays’ bats tonight, but I think Reyes is in play. His stolen base potential does go down against a lefty, but Reyes hits LH pitching well and Skaggs is not a pitcher that you need to avoid taking hitters against.
Additional Plays: Melky Cabrera
LA Angels
Josh Hamilton – The sample size is small, but Hamilton has hit Dickey’s knuckleball well in the past. Hamilton has a .331 wOBA against RH pitching and has a nice chance to homer as Dickey has already given up 16 HR’s on the season.
Additional Plays: Kole Calhoun, Mike Trout

Pitcher Grind Down
- Phil Hughes – After a nice start to the season, Hughes is starting to fall back into old habits. He’s given up a combined 17 earned runs over his last 3 starts. While the Mariners’ offense has not hit RH pitching well on the season, they’ve been much better of late. Hughes is a nice GPP option, but is too risky to use in cash games. Rating = 5
Salaries: $6900 FD, $14799 DS, $13700 DD, $8800 DK, $78600 FF, $22000 SS, $14100 FTD
- Chris Young – Young doesn’t strike out a ton of batters, but he has pitched well at home this season. In 8 starts at Safeco, he has posted a 2.19 ERA with a 1.11 WHIP. I typically avoid Young and move on, but this Twins’ offense is zapped of power recently and Vegas expects a low scoring game with the total set at 7.0 runs. He’s in play on multi-pitcher sites. Rating = 5
Salaries: $6300 FD, $15757 DS, $13800 DD, $6500 DK, $103200 FF, $20200 SS, $13800 FTD
Batter Grind Down
Minnesota
There really aren’t any options that stand out on the Twins tonight. Target batters in some of the games with higher run totals.
Seattle
Robinson Cano – Cano faces his former Yankee teammate for the first time. I have a feeling that Cano will get the better of Hughes here. Cano has a .379 wOBA against RH pitching this season and is catching Hughes at the right time.
Additional Plays: Kyle Seager
