Pitcher Grind Down
- Brandon McCarthy – McCarthy has not been a great fantasy option this season. He owns a 5.13 ERA with a 1.34 WHIP. While the Astros do strike out often, they have been a much better offensive team ever since George Springer bat got hot. There are better options than McCarthy in his price range tonight. Rating = 4
Salaries: $5700 FD, $12606 DS, $13950 DD, $6800 DK, $55400 FF, $19000 SS, $11100 FTD
- Dallas Keuchel – Keuchel has been one of the best pitchers in baseball over his last 6 starts. Just look at his price on DraftStreet which is the sharpest pricing site in the industry. Keuchel has lowered his ERA to 2.50 on the season and has a K/9 of 7.7. It can be hard to target Astros’ pitchers, but I think Keuchel is in play tonight. Rating = 7
Salaries: $7700 FD, $20487 DS, $17500 DD, $9800 DK, $124600 FF, $28400 SS, $12700 FTD
Batter Grind Down
Arizona
Paul Goldschmidt – Goldschmidt has always hit southpaws well and this season is no different. He has a .419 wOBA against LH pitching and makes a nice upside play in a tournament.
Additional Plays: Aaron Hill
Houston
Dexter Fowler – Fowler is often overlooked in this lineup, but he is having a very nice season. He has a favorable matchup against McCarthy and has hit RH pitching to a tune of a .364 wOBA this season.
Additional Plays: George Springer (if back in the lineup)

Pitcher Grind Down
- Julio Teheran – Teheran has been one of the best pitchers in baseball this season, but the Coors Field factor is more than enough to avoid him tonight. Coors is the best hitter’s park in baseball and I will continue to suggest avoiding all pitchers against the Rockies at home. Rating = 4
Salaries: $8900 FD, $17487 DS, $17350 DD, $10400 DK, $140000 FF, $29200 SS, $14600 FTD
- Tyler Matzek – The Rockies will call up the LHP Matzek for his first major league start tonight. So far in the minors this season he has a decent K-rate, but an ERA over 4.00. He’s an easy avoid tonight against the Braves who are ranked 2nd against LH pitching this season with a team .360 wOBA. Rating = 1
Salaries: $3000 FD, $11311 DS, $8150 DD, $ DK, $ FF, $ SS, $ FTD
Batter Grind Down
Atlanta
Evan Gattis – The Braves are my favorite team to target tonight so don’t be afraid to stack them up in both cash games and GPP’s. Gattis is the top play as he has an incredible .630 wOBA against LH pitching this season.
Additional Plays: Jason Heyward, B.J. Upton, Freddie Freeman, Chris Johnson, Andrelton Simmons
Colorado
Corey Dickerson – Dickerson has been terrific against RH pitching all season long. He has a .451 wOBA against righties and has really excelled at Coors.
Additional Plays: Justin Morneau, Charlie Blackmon, Troy Tulowitzki
Oakland at LA Angels

Pitcher Grind Down
- Tommy Milone – Milone has really struggled on the road this season. He has a 5.40 ERA with a 1.44 WHIP in 6 road starts. Tonight he faces the Angels who are ranked 7th against LH pitching. I’ll be avoiding Milone tonight with all of the other top aces on the mound. Rating = 3
Salaries: $5800 FD, $11724 DS, $10500 DD, $6700 DK, $74900 FF, $18600 SS, $10300 FTD
- Jered Weaver – Weaver has really pitched well at home this season. In 7 starts at Angel Stadium, he has a 2.79 ERA with a 1.03 WHIP and a K/9 of 8.1. The issue here is that he is facing an A’s offense that is ranked 5th against RH pitching. Rating = 6
Salaries: $7400 FD, $16942 DS, $15300 DD, $8200 DK, $101300 FF, $23500 SS, $12800 FTD
Batter Grind Down
Oakland
Brandon Moss – Moss is only 1/11 against Weaver in his career, but that is an extremely small sample size and Moss is having a breakout season. He has a .387 wOBA against RH pitching this season and has multi-HR upside.
Additional Plays: Coco Crisp
LA Angels
Mike Trout – Trout has been swinging a hot bat with 13 hits (2 HR’s) over his last 10 games. He has a .450 wOBA against LH pitching this season and should be treated as one of the top OF options on the board tonight.
Additional Plays: Albert Pujols, Howie Kendrick
NY Yankees at Seattle

| Masahiro Tanaka | Vegas Moneyline | Chris Young | Vegas Over/Under | ||||||

Pitcher Grind Down
- Masahiro Tanaka – Tanaka is second to only Yu Darvish as the top pitcher tonight. He has not been phased by the majors one bit as evidenced by his 2.02 ERA and his K/9 of 9.6. While the Mariners have a lot of LHB’s in their lineup, they still aren’t great against RH pitching. They are ranked 23rd against RH pitching this season with a team .303 wOBA. Rating = 9
Salaries: $10900 FD, $24909 DS, $20150 DD, $12400 DK, $158900 FF, $32800 SS, $17500 FTD
- Chris Young – Young’s ERA and WHIP are low, but he is averaging just over 4 strikeouts per 9 innings. That’s just not going to get it done in daily fantasy baseball. Young will also have a hard time getting any run support with Tanaka pitching opposite him. Rating = 3
Salaries: $5500 FD, $10461 DS, $12500 DD, $6300 DK, $71400 FF, $16700 SS, $10100 FTD
Batter Grind Down
NY Yankees
Jacoby Ellsbury – Ellsbury is still pretty cheap across the industry and I like the matchup against the RHP Young. Ellsbury has always hit RH pitching well and is a threat to steal second every time he reaches first.
Additional Plays: Brett Gardner
Seattle
Avoid all Mariners’ hitters tonight. Tanaka has held both LHB’s and RHB’s under a .270 wOBA this season.

Pitcher Grind Down
- Tanner Roark – Roark is coming off of a huge outing against the Padres in which he struck out 11 batters over 8 shutout innings. Tonight he travels to San Francisco to take on the Giants who are ranked 15th against RH pitching this season. He is in play for tournaments, but isn’t my favorite cash game play. Rating = 5
Salaries: $6400 FD, $14605 DS, $14800 DD, $8500 DK, $114100 FF, $23500 SS, $11600 FTD
- Matt Cain – Cain pitched well in his first game back and threw 96 pitches so it doesn’t look like we have to worry about him being on a pitch count. Tonight he faces a surging Nationals’ offense that has caused trouble for this Giants’ pitching staff in this series. I like the price on Cain, but this Nationals’ offense does concern me a bit. Rating = 5
Salaries: $7300 FD, $15654 DS, $16750 DD, $7700 DK, $83400 FF, $21600 SS, $11000 FTD
Batter Grind Down
Washington
Adam LaRoche – LaRoche has a .423 wOBA against RH pitching this season and is a nice value play at 1B.
Additional Plays: Ian Desmond
San Francisco
Pablo Sandoval – The Panda has struggled against LH pitching this season, but is hitting righties well with a .347 wOBA. He offers salary cap relief at 3B.
Additional Plays: Hunter Pence
