Pitcher Grind Down
- Ryan Vogelsong – Vogelsong had a terrific month of May. In 6 starts he posted a 2.29 ERA with a K/9 of 7.8. He also held batters to a .227 batting average over that stretch. He is getting more respect from Vegas than I expected him too as Vegas has this game set as a pick ‘em. He’s certainly not the safest cash game play, but the Reds are ranked 20th against RH pitching and are still missing their best hitter in Joey Votto. Rating = 5
Salaries: $6100 FD, $14502 DS, $14100 DD, $9300 DK, $82400 FF, $22800 SS, $11200 FTD
- Tony Cingrani – I keep waiting for Cingrani to turn the corner and never look back. He is an extremely talented LHP and it’s only a matter of time before he starts to show it on the mound. On the season he has an ERA over 4.00, but he does have a K/9 of 8.4. He is facing a Giants’ offense that is ranked 17th against LH pitching this season. Rating = 6
Salaries: $7500 FD, $16446 DS, $15500 DD, $7600 DK, $77900 FF, $18500 SS, $14100 FTD

San Francisco
Hunter Pence – Pence was a triple shy of the cycle last night and draws another solid matchup tonight against Cingrani who has given up a .323 wOBA to RHB’s. Pence has been terrific against southpaws this season with a .420 wOBA.
Additional Plays: Buster Posey, Angel Pagan
Cincinnati
Devin Mesoraco – Mesoraco blasted another HR in last night’s win over the Giants. He has been crushing both LH and RH pitching this season and has a favorable matchup tonight against Vogelsong who has given up a .373 wOBA to RHB’s.
Additional Plays: Jay Bruce, Brandon Phillips, Billy Hamilton

Pitcher Grind Down
- Daisuke Matsuzaka – Dice-K has actually pitched pretty well this season. He owns a 2.45 ERA with a 1.17 WHIP (very impressive considering the fact that he’s walked 20 batters in 29 innings of work) and has 32 K’s over 29 innings of work. I never thought I would say this, but I actually think he makes a decent play against the Cubs tonight, especially on FD where he is only $4,200. Rating = 5
Salaries: $4200 FD, $14245 DS, $10250 DD, $7300 DK, $NA FF, $13000 SS, $NA FTD
- Edwin Jackson – Jackson has been a tough read this season. After shutting out the Brewers, he got blasted by the Padres, and then turned around and pitched well against the Giants in San Francisco. He is extremely inconsistent, but does draw a nice matchup against the Mets who are ranked 26th against RH pitching with a team .290 wOBA. Rating = 6
Salaries: $6700 FD, $14858 DS, $13950 DD, $9000 DK, $68800 FF, $23300 SS, $12200 FTD

NY Mets
David Wright – Wright is starting to heat up with multi-hit games in 3 of his last 7. He has a nice matchup against Jackson who has given up a .320 wOBA to RHB’s this season.
Additional Plays: Daniel Murphy, Lucas Duda
Chicago Cubs
Starlin Castro – Even though Dice-K has been good this season, that doesn’t mean that he isn’t susceptible to a blow up every now and then. I will likely have some exposure to the Cubbies in tournaments tonight. Castro has a .344 wOBA against RH pitching this season.
Additional Plays: Anthony Rizzo, Luis Valbuena

Pitcher Grind Down
- Bud Norris – Norris has lowered his ERA and WHIP this season, but his K-rate has also gone down. I typically like to avoid pitchers in hitter’s park and that’s the case with Norris tonight. The total for this game is set at 9.0 runs and there are better options on the board. Rating = 3
Salaries: $6100 FD, $9895 DS, $11000 DD, $6500 DK, $71000 FF, $16700 SS, $10800 FTD
- Nick Martinez – Martinez has a 2.75 ERA with a 1.51 WHIP this season. He’s a decent prospect, but I don’t like the matchup tonight against the Orioles who have a ton of power in their lineup. Rating = 3
Salaries: $4200 FD, $8941 DS, $8700 DD, $6400 DK, $69000 FF, $13000 SS, $9500 FTD
Batter Grind Down
Baltimore
Adam Jones – I have a feeling Jones is going to fly under the radar tonight as he has been pretty awful against RH pitching with a .250 wOBA this season. That said, he has always hit RH pitching well throughout his career and I like the matchup against the rookie Martinez.
Additional Plays: Chris Davis, Manny Machado
Texas
Shin-Soo Choo – Mr. Choo has been pretty quiet over the last 2 weeks, but still has a .356 wOBA against RH pitching. His price has come down across the industry and he has a terrific matchup against Norris who has given up a .375 wOBA to LHB’s this season.
Additional Plays: Mitch Moreland, Leonys Martin, Adrian Beltre

Pitcher Grind Down
- Adam Wainwright – Wainwright is looking to bounce back after getting shelled by the Giants in his last start. Wainwright still owns an impressive 2.32 ERA this season with a 0.91 WHIP and a K/9 of 8.6. While the Royals strike out fewer times than any team in baseball, they are only ranked 25th against RH pitching. Wainwright is just a notch below Strasburg as the top pitching option tonight. Rating = 9
Salaries: $10900 FD, $24555 DS, $21200 DD, $12600 DK, $133400 FF, $31000 SS, $20100 FTD
- Jason Vargas – Vargas owns a 3.39 ERA with a 1.23 WHIP and a K/9 of 6.9. While he has had his struggles at home, he is facing a Cardinals’ offense that is ranked 29th against LH pitching with a team .283 wOBA. He’ll likely have a tough time picking up the win with Wainwright pitching opposite him and there are better options in his price range. Rating = 5
Salaries: $6100 FD, $14878 DS, $10900 DD, $8100 DK, $85800 FF, $21000 SS, $11500 FTD

St. Louis
Allen Craig – The wOBA machine loves Craig tonight as he has a .380 wOBA against LH pitching. He is facing the lefty Vargas who has given up a .333 wOBA to RHB’s this season.
Additional Plays: Yadier Molina, Matt Holliday
Kansas City
You can safely avoid all Royals’ batters tonight. Wainwright has held both LHB’s and RHB’s under a .280 wOBA this season.

Pitcher Grind Down
- Garrett Richards – Richards has given up 13 earned runs in his last 3 starts, 5 of which came against this Astros’ offense. The Astros are playing with much more confidence at this point in the season and are no longer an auto pick whenever a pitcher is facing them. Richards has terrific stuff though and should be looked at as a solid GPP play. Rating = 5
Salaries: $7000 FD, $17444 DS, $14500 DD, $9200 DK, $80600 FF, $23800 SS, $12100 FTD
- Jarred Cosart – Cosart’s numbers are slowly getting better as the season progresses. He now owns a 4.18 ERA with a 1.38 WHIP and a K/9 of 6.0. He is a slight underdog in what is expected to be a high scoring affair. I have a hard time taking pitchers against the Angels when they are fully healthy. Rating = 4
Salaries: $6000 FD, $10970 DS, $11400 DD, $6600 DK, $70700 FF, $14300 SS, $9600 FTD
Batter Grind Down
LA Angels
Albert Pujols – Pujols has a .369 wOBA against RH pitching this season and faces the RHP Cosart who has given up a .323 wOBA to RHB’s.
Additional Plays: Kole Calhoun
Houston
Jason Castro – Castro is a nice value play at Catcher tonight. He has good power against RH pitching and is facing Richards who has really struggled in his last few starts. He strikes out often, but is in play on the sites that don’t negate for K’s.
Additional Plays: George Springer, Jon Singleton
