MLB Player Props Today
- Nestor Cortes o4.5 strikeouts
- Matt Olson o1.5 total bases
- Javier Baez less than 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs
Nestor Cortes o4.5 strikeouts (-135), DraftKings
Entering play on Saturday, Nestor Cortes has eclipsed this market number in five of his last six starts, with his lone miss being a 4-strikeout performance against the Oakland Athletics. On the season, the Tampa Bay Rays rank 15th in strikeout percentage against left-handed pitching, making this far from a problematic matchup for Cortes. According to props.cash, the Rays have struck out five times or more against Yusei Kikuchi, Chris Sale, and Eduardo Rodriguez this season. Expect Cortes to continue the trend of southpaws having success against this Tampa Bay lineup – take the over.
Matt Olson o1.5 total bases (+115), DraftKings
Matt Olson has not had a stellar beginning to the new campaign, but he has an excellent bounce-back opportunity on Saturday, following back-to-back days without a hit. Though Olson has struggled overall this year, he still owns a .255 batting average, .997 OPS, and a 164 wRC+ against right-handed pitching. Jose Berrios, today’s opponent on the hill, has allowed a .313 opponent batting average and posted a 4.72 FIP against left-handed batters this year. At plus money, this is a nice value on Olson to collect two total bases.
MLB DFS Pick’em
Javier Baez less than 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs, PrizePicks
Javier Baez has been swinging the bat well of late, but today, he has an extremely difficult matchup against Bryce Miller. Much of Baez’s success this season has come against left-handed pitching, with far less success against right-handed pitching – against which he has a .235 batting average, .599 OPS, and a 69 wRC+. In a small sample size to begin Miller’s MLB career, right-handed batters have a .074 batting average against him and a 37.0% strikeout rate. Do not expect much production from Baez in this spot.
