NHL DFS Picks: DraftKings Expert Survey for Tuesday, November 5
Who is your favorite skater to spend up for in cash games?
Moneyball16: William Nylander
boggslite: Nathan MacKinnon
Joda: Nathan MacKinnon
What is your preferred tournament format (e.g. large-field, single-entry) to play on this slate? How do you plan to beat that field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?
Moneyball16: Large-field tournaments – With no basketball tonight and some huge contests, I expect more inexperienced players to be reading this, so I’ll keep it more general. Make lineups that can tell a story that leads to you winning a GPP. If a player puts up a score that will be very helpful towards winning, what does that mean for the players on his line or power-play unit? Every goal comes with around 1.7 assists, so there is a lot of correlation. On an 11-game slate, there will probably be someone who hits a 3-point bonus and the score that comes along with that. Often, when there is one 3-point bonus, there is another from the same team. Stacking and correlation are much more important in NHL DFS than in NBA DFS.

boggslite: I’m playing large-field tournaments with all the focus being on NHL DFS since there are no NBA games. With 11 games on the slate and many different matchups to exploit, I’m expecting ownership to be spread out among the tournaments. I’ll likely have a narrow pool of goalies focused around Connor Hellebuyck, Ilya Sorokin, and Jeremy Swayman at their respective price points. I will also take advantage of the great value to be had from players coming back from injury, notably Artturi Lehkonen and Macklin Celebrini, who open up a lot of value.
Joda: Large-field tournaments are preferred; after all, that is where the massive prize pools are this evening. We have some clear chalk with the Colorado Avalanche, but with 11 games on the slate, there are plenty of ways to differentiate. One team that is likely to be overlooked is the Vancouver Canucks. The Anaheim Ducks have not been taking many penalties this season, but last season, they were head and shoulders above the rest of the league, taking 5.32 penalties per 60 minutes. We have yet to see the Canucks tap into their full potential, and they have some value pieces like Conor Garland and Jake DeBrusk that will help to get away from wingers with higher pOWN%.
