The RotoGrinders NHL Grind Down article will give you an in-depth analysis into the NHL schedule. This article will break down the numbers for every single game and give you analysis on which trends you can exploit. While matchups are a major factor in daily fantasy hockey there are plenty of other factors to consider such as injuries, salaries, and more.

The analysis should point you in the right direction, but it is still up to you to decipher the information and make your own selections. Hockey is an extremely high variance sport. The best choice is not always the right choice but following the trends will win you money over time.

Remember, these writeups are done prior to lineups being released, so make sure to check our Starting Lineups page to ensure the recommended options are playing.

As indicated in yesterday’s Grind Down a lot of teams that are out of the playoffs seem to be switching up their lines on a daily basis so checking line up page throughout the day may or may not give you an advantage in tonight’s contests. This last week is always crazy where DFS is concerned as there is not only that going on but the teams that have already clinched playoff spots may start resting players much like the Nashville Predators did the other night. With that said let’s get on to the analysis.

Buffalo is one of those dangerous teams because they have nothing to lose as they have been sitting in last place in the Atlantic Division for a few weeks now. Nashville took them for granted the other night as the Sabres put a 7-4 beat down on them in front of their own fans on Saturday night as the power play was responsible for more than half of the goals that they had scored. Jack Eichel makes for a decent one-off here as he has the team lead with 25 goals and 37 assists while skating on a line with Zemgus Girgensons and Jason Pominville while Ryan O’Reilly centers Sam Reinhart and Scott Wilson on the team’s second line. Kyle Okposo joins Eichel, O’Reilly and Reinhart from the third line to make up 80% of the team’s top power play unit that sees about 70% of the ice time when the Sabres draw a penalty. Add in defenseman Rasmus Ristolainen and you have all top five power play members occupying the top five spots in scoring over the last seven games. Ristolainen is the best the team has from the back line as he has 22 of his 39 points when quarterbacking the team’s top power unit. Look for Buffalo to give the Maple Leafs all they can handle but come up a little short this evening.
