Sports Info Solutions: MLB DFS Advice for Sunday, July 1st
America’s pastime and daily fantasy sports are a perfect fit with an overload of data and statistics to analyze before making your lineup selections.
Because of the amount of information available to the DFS player, it can be a bit overwhelming, so I’ve tried to help you out by recommending a number of well-priced options by using Sports Info Solutions’ “SIS Model 3”.
SIS Model 3 gives DFS players an edge when setting their lineups as it uses the most expansive and accurate wealth of baseball data to create a tested DFS algorithm. You can learn more about the development of the algorithm in the RotoGrinders Marketplace.
Pitching Option
J.A. Happ, Toronto (FD Price $9400)
There is a reason Happ is the target of multiple rumors as baseball heads toward the trade deadline … he’s pitching very well this season (10-3, 3.62 ERA, 9.84 K/9). He’s particularly tough on lefties (.184 wOBA).
Hitting Options
C/1B) Brad Miller, Milwaukee (FD Price $2600)
Now back in a pennant race thanks to the trade that brought him from Tampa, Miller’s bat has sprung to life. He’s hitting .324 in June with a .406 wOBA. He’ll face the Reds’ Matt Harvey, who despite a solid effort last time out against Atlanta, still has trouble against LHB (.378 wOBA).
2B) Ketel Marte, Arizona (FD Price $2900)
The switch-hitting Diamondbacks’ shortstop is batting .245 with a .303 wOBA overall, but that jumps to .298 and a .369 wOBA against LHP. Meanwhile, opposing starter Derek Holland allows RHB to produce at a .361 wOBA pace.
3B) Travis Shaw, Milwaukee (FD Price $3400)

A solid lefty to throw up against Harvey has been gold this season and Shaw has hit all 14 of his home runs and 43 of his 47 RBI against RHP. Shaw owns a .379 wOBA against right-handers.
SS) Nick Ahmed, Arizona (FD Price $2900)
Here is another affordable Diamondbacks middle infielder who has value against LHP only. He owns a .368 wOBA against lefties and a .261 wOBA against righties. Opposing starter Holland allows RHB to produce at a .361 wOBA clip.
OF) Shin-Soo Choo, Texas (FD Price $3800)
Choo has produced well this season as the Rangers’ leadoff hitter, with a high OBP (.396), 15 home runs and a .382 wOBA. All but one of those home runs is against RHP where he owns a .405 wOBA. Choo has been hot in June (.347 BA, 1.087 OPS, .459 wOBA).
OF) Brian Anderson, Miami (FD Price $2900)
Anderson has been a solid addition to the Marlins outfield, batting .292 with a .343 wOBA. He had a good June batting .301, with a season-high .168 ISO and a .362 wOBA. He goes up against the Mets’ Steven Matz, who has yielded 10 of his 13 home runs at home to RHB (.359 wOBA).
OF) Curtis Granderson, Toronto (FD Price $2700)
He’s not the 40-homer guy he was back in 2011-12 with the New York Yankees, but he’s still dangerous against RHP (.374 wOBA). Granderson is swinging a hot bat in June (.288, .305 ISO, .391 wOBA).
UTIL) Eric Thames, Milwaukee (FD Price $4200)
We go back to the well one more time, to add another LHB against Harvey. Thames, now healthy after missing six weeks with a torn ligament in his left thumb, smashed home runs in two of the first three games of the series with the Reds and owns a .366 wOBA against RHP.
Stacking Option
When it comes time to draft a fantasy baseball team in DFS, stacking is a widely accepted strategy. There’s a reason: it works. If you want to win big, you will need a gigantic score, and stacking makes it easier to rack up the points because the scoring of batters in a given lineup is interrelated. Batters reaching base allows the hitters down the line to drive them in, creating something of a snowball effect.
Milwaukee Brewers
Add the hot-hitting Jesus Aguilar (10 HR, .449 wOBA in June), to Miller, Shaw and Thames for an explosive stack opportunity.
