Sports Info Solutions: MLB DFS Advice for Wednesday, June 20th
America’s pastime and daily fantasy sports are a perfect fit with an overload of data and statistics to analyze before making your lineup selections.
Because of the amount of information available to the DFS player, it can be a bit overwhelming, so I’ve tried to help you out by recommending a number of well-priced options by using Sports Info Solutions’ “SIS Model 3”.
SIS Model 3 gives DFS players an edge when setting their lineups as it uses the most expansive and accurate wealth of baseball data to create a tested DFS algorithm. You can learn more about the development of the algorithm in the RotoGrinders Marketplace.
Pitching Option
David Price, Boston (FD Price $8600)
Price’s record is good, but isn’t spectacular (8-4, 3.76 ERA, 8.74 K/9), however, we do like his road splits. Away from Fenway Park he’s amassed a 5-2 record, 3.58 xFIP, 9.44 K/9. He’s won his last four starts, including beating Houston and Seattle on the road. He faces a Twins team ranked 23rd against LHP with a .297 wOBA and 24th in runs scored (67).
Hitting Options
C/1B) Greg Bird, New York Yankees (FD Price $3100)
Facing Felix Hernandez used to mean fighting off 95 mph fastballs, but now his most effective pitches are the change up and curveball and Bird can hit off-speed pitches. Bird also owns a .331 wOBA against RHP.
2B) Joseph Wendle, Tampa Bay (FD Price $2300)
Wendle has been fairly productive this season with a .299 wOBA, but he’s been better on the road (.326 wOBA) and his affordability allows us better options elsewhere.
3B) Isiah Kiner-Falefa, Texas (FD Price $2800)
Kiner-Falefa has improved his productivity every month, from a .289 wOBA in April, to .311 in May and .327 in June. Pitcher Jakob Junis has struggled in June (.384 wOBA). Junis has been particularly ineffective against RHP at home (.596 SLG, .392 wOBA).
SS) Elvis Andrus, Texas (FD Price $3600)
Another right-handed hitter to face Junis, Andrus is batting .300 with a .378 wOBA.
OF) Christian Yelich, Milwaukee (FD Price $4000)
We saved our budget elsewhere to get a hitter like Yelich in our lineup. He’s been solid all season (.290 BA, 9 HR, 31 RBI, 47 runs), including a .361 wOBA which rises to .379 wOBA against RHP.
OF) Michael Conforto, New York Mets (FD Price $3700
Since rumors of a possible demotion, Conforto has batted a solid .296 with a pair of home runs and a 1.074 OPS. He’s 4-for-8 in the first two games of this series with Colorado at Coors Field.
OF) Brett Gardner, New York Yankees (FD Price $3200)
Gardner has been productive against RHP this season with a .344 wOBA. He’s always hit Hernandez well (.361 BA, .939 OPS).
UTIL) Eric Thames, Milwaukee (FD Price $3800)
Thames is back from injury and always a threat against RHP with a .386 wOBA and all nine of his home runs this season.
Stacking Option
When it comes time to draft a fantasy baseball team in DFS, stacking is a widely accepted strategy. There’s a reason: it works. If you want to win big, you will need a gigantic score, and stacking makes it easier to rack up the points because the scoring of batters in a given lineup is interrelated. Batters reaching base allows the hitters down the line to drive them in, creating something of a snowball effect.
Milwaukee Brewers
Two of our top options on Wednesday are Yelich and Thames. Travis Shaw has had success against Chad Kuhl and Lorenzo Cain has been hitting in June (.374 wOBA) and could make a solid four-player stack. Check the weather in Pittsburgh before taking this option.
