NFL Week 2 Fantasy Football Running Back Rankings
The first week of the NFL season is in the books, and it’s time to see what’s in store for fantasy football in Week 2.
It’s easy to think of running back as the cornerstone of any lineup, expecting a certain number of points on a week-to-week basis from the position. Variance sneaks up on us, and what looked like a killer lineup Thursday morning doesn’t look so hot come Monday. I had high expectations for RB Rachaad White, for example, and even though he had seventeen carries, he wasn’t able to do much with them.

Fantasy Football Running Back Notes
The LA Rams stunned the Seattle Seahawks in Week 1, initially falling behind 13-7 but then playing an impeccable second half on both sides of the ball to win 30-13. They’ll face a stiffer test when they welcome the San Francisco 49ers Sunday. The 49ers are coming off a blowout win over the Steelers, with which Christian McCaffrey had plenty to do. McCaffrey should be able to expose this fraudulent Rams defense.
As dynamic as he is and as great as he looked Week 1, Austin Ekeler falls down the rankings a fair bit this week. Ekeler is not only dealing with an ankle injury, but he is also mourning the loss of his agent, Cameron Weiss, who succumbed to cancer at the age of 38. Then there is the rushing defense of the Tennessee Titans, a unit that held Jamaal Williams to 45 yards on 18 carries (or 2.5 yards per attempt).
For all the speculation of Tank Bigsby eating into the work of Travis Etienne, the latter showed up in Week 1 with 77 yards and a touchdown on eighteen carries. He tacked on another five receptions and 27 receiving yards. He and the Jaguars will be hosting the Chiefs in what is (as of this writing) the only game with a total over 50 points. The Jaguars are only three-point underdogs, so this should be a high-scoring, tightly contested affair.
The Miami Dolphins surrendered over 230 yards in rushing production to the Chargers in Week 1. Rhamondre Stevenson and Ezekiel Elliott may be splitting carries, but both Austin Ekeler and Joshua Kelley had big numbers (with a score apiece) in Week 1 against the Dolphins. Like the Jaguars, the Patriots are three-point home dogs.
Good luck in Week 2!
