Finding Paydirt: Week 2 NFL Touchdown Picks — Win 2 Months of RG Premium & More Prizes!
Touchdowns, while extremely variant, make or break daily fantasy success and swing thousands of dollars every Sunday. Every weekend, players wait anxiously for the players on their roster to find paydirt. The purpose of the contest is to provide an opportunity for the RotoGrinders community to come together to sweat our touchdown picks together. Did I mention there will be prizes?
Happy Friday, Grinders! We are back for Week 2 after an eventful Week 1 in the NFL. The NFL provided 51 touchdowns for our contest purposes (DK Main Slate less the cut list). The afternoon started relatively slowly but picked up during the tail end of the 1 PM EST window. Will offense become more explosive in the second week? Who did well?
The Leaderboard
Please read below for all of our rules and prizes. This is our initial leaderboard after Week 1. We saw a lot of traction for Michael Pittman, Marquise Brown, and Saquon Barkley. We will have three weeks for our first segment but the seasonal tally will be kept for the first sixteen weeks. Good luck in Week 2!
Finding Paydirt Rules and Prizes
Very simple. Each week, I will publish Finding Paydirt on Friday morning — highlighting my favorite touchdown pick for the running back, wide receiver, and tight end position. To participate in the contest, you simply need to read the article and leave your three picks in the comments section. So, easy, right? You will take Jonathan Taylor, Davante Adams, and Travis Kelce! Easy!
Not so fast, friends! There is a catch. Each week, we will run the contest for Sunday’s DraftKings Main Slate (1:00 PM and 4:00 PM games). However, to make things a bit more interesting, I will be cutting the top five priced running backs and wide receivers as well as the top three priced tight ends. Everyone else on the slate is in play.
Each week I will post an updated leaderboard with the total touchdowns accumulated that week and for the season.
So, simply put, read the article, check the cut list, make your three picks in the comments, win prizes! What are the prizes? Read below.
The following prizes will be awarded to players based on their touchdown total for each four-week segment:
First Place – 2 months of RotoGrinders NFL Premium
Second Place – RotoGrinders T-shirt and hat
Third Place – 2 weeks of SAO Premium
The following prizes will be awarded to players based on their touchdown total for the first 16 weeks of the NFL season:
First Place – One month of RotoGrinders Combo Premium
Second Place – RotoGrinders Swag Pack
Third Place – One month of SAO Premium
Now, let’s get into this week’s cut list.
The Week 2 Cut List
Your selections must be on the DraftKings Main Slate and cannot be any of the players below. These players are the top five at both RB and WR and the top three at TE.
Running Back | Wide Receiver | Tight End |
Jonathan Taylor | Davante Adams | Mark Andrews |
Alvin Kamara | Cooper Kupp | Darren Waller |
Christian McCaffrey | Deebo Samuel | George Kittle |
Saquon Barkley | Ja’Marr Chase | |
Joe Mixon | Tyreek Hill |
Now that we have cut the top-priced players, let’s make our Week 2 picks.
NFL Week 2 Touchdown Picks
Nick Chubb – RB – $7,100
While Nick Chubb might not be a chalky option on the DFS streets, he damn sure should be chalky in the comments section of the article. The Browns are favored against the Jets. The same Jets that will continue to start Joe Flacco behind a tattered offensive line. Let me introduce you the Jets played by Charlie Brown and great football decisions played by… well, the football.
The Jets defense looked pretty solid last week before finally breaking in the second half. The levy can only handle so much water. Chubb received 22 carries in a win against the Panthers while stablemate, Kareem Hunt, scored two touchdowns. I don’t anticipate that will be a trend.
FanDuel Sportsbook offers the best odds at the time of this writing. Jones is -120 to score a touchdown on FanDuel.
Mike Evans – WR – $6,800
Will Mike Evans be popular on DraftKings? FanDuel? The impact of Chris Godwin missing time is muddling up what seems to be a great time to invest in a Tom Brady target. Will Julio Jones get a bump?
I am going to lean towards the side of safety with regard to Evans and just assume that any time Tom Brady has a throwing opportunity in the red zone he is going to look for Evans. Evans saw 7 targets last week and an end zone target. I anticipate that Evans will be able to box out defensive backs from the Saints in an effort to fall in the end zone. While the Saints’ defense is pretty good, somebody has to score.
At the time of this writing, we don’t have prices on the Tampa Bay side of the touchdown market.
Tyler Higbee – TE – $4,200
Gross. Tyler Higbee checks in for us at a tight end position that feels like a punt each week for this contest. Higbee saw 11 targets in the Week 1 opener for a whopping 5 catches and 39 yards. Yuck.
Higbee’s average depth of target was just over one yard. I am not exaggerating. He dropped a few passes as well as Matt Stafford struggled to throw the ball to anyone but Higbee and Kupp. The Falcons should be a softer matchup for the Rams who look to get right after being embarrassed in the season’s opener.
For the best price, bet Tyler Higbee at +195 to score a touchdown on FanDuel Sportsbook.
Thanks for checking out this week’s article. Leave your touchdown picks in the comments for a chance at winning monthly and seasonal prizes.
