Fun Chalk Days
It’s always fun to play Kyle O’Quinn chalk days, but it makes too much sense to fade tonight. It doesn’t sound like Kanter is going to play, and the Knicks could be without Beasley as well. With Kanter and Porzingis off the floor, O’Quinn is averaging 1.23 fantasy points per minute, which is a .06 bump on his season average. The Magic rank 26th in defensive efficiency against centers this season, and O’Quinn is averaging 22.7 fantasy points in three meetings this season, despite averaging only 18.4 minutes per game in those matchups.
Marc Gasol will play Sunday; Memphis will start Simmons, Selden, Brooks, Martin and Gasol
Gasol will play after testing his groin in warm-ups, a big plus to a Memphis team that is already set to be without Tyreke Evans, JaMychal Green, Andrew Harrison, Chandler Parsons and MarShon Brooks. Jarell Martin should still be expected to see upwards of 30 minutes given the front-court injuries and his ability to play both the 3 and 4, while Selden could see a little extra run as the starting SG with Harrison, Parsons and Brooks out of the rotation. Dillon Brooks also picks up some value and is a viable value target for late-slate contests.
As reported by: Eric HasseltineKevon Looney to start at center on Sunday
This is a surprise, but Looney still isn’t all that appealing of a DFS target with Durant, Draymond and Klay all currently healthy. Looney’s price also started to climb as he became a more integral part of the rotation with Golden State banged up and hasn’t yet fallen to a level that meets his current outlook. Don’t expect Looney to suddenly take on a big minutes total, but it’s possible he ends up in the 22-26 range if all goes well.
As reported by: Anthony SlaterMarShon Brooks ruled out for Sunday; Marc Gasol remains questionable
We’re still waiting on the most crucial Memphis news of the night, but MarShon Brooks has been officially ruled out which leaves the Grizzlies fairly thin on the wing. Chandler Parsons is also out in addition to Tyreke Evans, Andrew Harrison and JaMychal Green, so the Grizzlies may have some trouble keeping this one competitive. Jarell Martin is the top value target on the Memphis side with Dillon Brooks and Wayne Selden also squarely in the conversation.
As reported by: Grizzlies PRLonzo Ball officially ruled out for Sunday
Ball will miss his second consecutive contest, which should allow Josh Hart to pick up another big workload after the rookie saw 35 minutes in his return to action on Friday. With Ball and Ingram out, Kyle Kuzma should continue playing monster minutes on the wing with Hart, KCP, Randle and Lopez all likely to be relied upon heavily.
As reported by: Tania Ganguli Other tagged players: Josh HartElfrid Payton, Devin Booker, Alex Len all out Sunday
With Payton still out, Tyler Ulis should continue logging minutes in the mid 30s at PG with Shaq Harrison providing depth behind him. Ulis’ mid-range price tag makes him a worthwhile GPP gamble as he’s been filling the stat sheet lately, and it’s possible Harrison could see extra run if this one gets out of hand late.
Draymond Green, Klay Thompson will play Sunday; Omri Casspi ruled out
Green and Thompson will both play, as expected. Casspi remains out and he wasn’t going to factor heavily into the rotation anyway. Durant remains the top target on the GSW side while Green and Thompson are better suited as tournament targets.
As reported by: Warriors PRTorrey Craig to start in place of Wilson Chandler on Sunday
Craig will pick up the start for Chandler and is likely to end up in the 20-30 minute range against the Bucks this evening. Expect the other four starters to continue logging major minutes while Mason Plumlee and Trey Lyles also figure to help fill Chandler’s void.
As reported by: Harrison WindAndre Iguodala will not play Sunday
Steve Kerr has relayed that Andre Iguodala won’t suit up tonight against the Suns. He also missed yesterday’s games which allowed Kevon Looney and Nick Young to see upwards of 20 minutes off the bench, and with Pat McCaw out we should see Young push for minutes in the mid 20s off the bench even with Klay Thompson probable to play.
As reported by: @Con_ChronJohn Henson will play Sunday; Thon Maker ruled out
Henson will play Sunday against the Nuggets and will not be on a minutes restriction, so he should step into his normal allotment of minutes with the chance to see a few extra thanks to Maker’s absence. Tyler Zeller should shift back into a bench role after playing 28 minutes in a spot start against the Lakers. This is one of the more appealing games to stack on this slate.
As reported by: Harrison Wind Other tagged players: Thon MakerRicky Rubio will play Sunday
Rubio will play after previously being considered a game-time call. It seems likely that he’ll assume his typical role in the rotation so not much changes here. Expect him to see minutes in the low-to-mid 30s with Dante Exum eating up whatever he leaves behind.
As reported by: Jerry ZgodaDerrick Rose available to play Sunday
Rose is available to play, although the line “we’ll see if they need me or not” doesn’t inspire a ton of confidence that he’s going to see more than his typical workload. Tyus Jones should see all the playing time he can handle while Jamal Crawford’s court time also takes a minor uptick with Jeff Teague out.
As reported by: Jerry ZgodaWilson Chandler (nasal fracture) ruled out for Sunday
The Nuggets will now be down Chandler in addition to Gary Harris, so we should continue to see Barton, Murray, Millsap and Jokic record inflated minute totals with Devin Harris, Mason Plumlee, Torrey Craig and Trey Lyles all candidates to see some extra run. Harris ended up playing 34 minutes against OKC (the game did go to OT) with Chandler leaving after 23 minutes, so it’s absolutely possible he ends up right in that range again in terms of court time. He’s the preferred value target of the bunch.
As reported by: Gina Mizell Other tagged players: Devin HarrisJeff Teague ruled out Sunday; Tyus Jones to start at PG, Derrick Rose still questionable
With Teague out, Jones becomes a viable punt play industry wide while Jamal Crawford is likely to see a little extra court time on top of some extra ball-handling responsibility. Jones has had ups and downs as a starter in Teague’s place this year, but Jimmy Butler’s continued absence does elevate Jones’ floor/ceiling. The match-up with Utah isn’t great regardless of how you slice it, but the $4,100 tag on DraftKings and the minimum price tag on FanDuel are really hard to ignore. It’s likely Jones pushes for 32-35 minutes of court time while we’ll see the offense run through the likes of Andrew Wiggins and Karl-Anthony Towns a little more often. Jones’ ceiling will see a small uptick if Derrick Rose is ruled out.
As reported by: Jon Krawczynski Other tagged players: Tyus Jones, Derrick RoseDwight Powell (knee) and Dirk Nowitzki (ankle) will play Sunday
Powell and Nowitzki will both play and presumably start in Sunday’s matchup with the Cleveland Cavaliers after popping up in the Dallas Mavericks’ game notes as questionable with their respective ailments. The Mavericks are still without J.J. Barea for at least two more games, and head coach Rick Carlisle has really limited the playing time of most of his starters in recent games as he attempts to get a longer look at younger players at the end of the regular rotation. In fact, Dennis Smith Jr. has logged 26 minutes or fewer in four of the last five games, despite Barea being unavailable for a majority of those contests, as minutes have been diluted at the guard and wing positions amongst Dorian Finney-Smith, Yogi Ferrell, Aaron Harrison, and even Kyle Collinsworth at times. So, it goes without saying that the Mavericks are a difficult team to trust in daily formats for this final stretch of the regular season.
