Jarrett Allen (left foot strain) ruled out Tuesday
Allen has officially been ruled out and will not play in tonight’s game against the Phoenix Suns due to a strained left foot, despite never appearing on the Brooklyn Nets’ injury report until today. The Nets are already without Quincy Acy for Tuesday’s contest, meaning that Tyler Zeller will likely enter the rotation and see most of the backup center minutes behind Timofey Mozgov. The Nets and head coach Kenny Atkinson are notorious for rolling with deep rotations, limiting most core players to less than 30 minutes per game. However, With Allen and Acy unavailable, Rondae Hollis-Jefferson and Trevor Booker become virtual locks to eclipse that 30-minute plateau, especially if DeMarre Carroll is eventually ruled out, who remains questionable and a game-time decision with an ankle injury.
As reported by: the Brooklyn Nets via TwitterMassive Upside, As Usual
We all know that Westbrook has massive upside any time he takes the court. I actually think he will be a little bit under-owned tonight (relatively speaking, since it’s a four game slate). The logical pay-up spot is with Drummond tonight, as he has a great matchup and is a bit cheaper, but Westbrook has that GPP-winning upside. He draws a tough matchup with Milwaukee, which will keep the ownership down, and he did struggle shooting the ball against them last year. Despite that, he still managed a triple-double in one of the meetings, and we know there is 70+ point potential here. Don’t sleep on him with your GPP roster builds.
GPP Upside in the Frontcourt
I have made a general rule to simply avoid the Milwaukee big men, but I might have to make an exception for that tonight, especially in GPPs, for two reasons: A) It’s a four game slate and B) Greg Monroe is going to be out for a while. That thins out the options up front for Jason Kidd, and Thon Maker appears to be capped at around 20 minutes per game despite being the starter. Henson should be the beneficiary here, and we have seen him show flashes of upside in the past. I’ll buy in while the price is still low.
Access to a High Total Game
The Suns/Nets tilt currently has an over/under sitting at 231 points, and that is a certifiable whopper of a game total. The problem is that the rotations for these teams are a mess, so it’s difficult to get access to safety along with the upside. However, that is not a concern with Booker. His minutes are by far the safest on the Phoenix team, he leads the squad in usage rate at 29%, and he is fresh off a 34/6/6 game against the Blazers over the weekend. He should thrive in this up tempo game and will be a staple of my lineups tonight.
The Burn Wounds Have Healed
Avery Bradley was a popular DFS target in each of his first four games this season. After three subpar outings, everyone was quick to jump off the bandwagon. We should have noted the high shot volume and the lack of peripheral stats that Bradley usually brings to the table. It was only a matter of time before he turned it around and that’s exactly what he’s done in the last three games, scoring 32, 31, and 33 fantasy points. He should keep it rolling in a favorable matchup tonight against the Lakers.
This Power Forward Should be in Line for a Big Workload
The Pacers’ frontcourt is banged up right now. Myles Turner has already been ruled out of tonight’s game and it sounds like Domantas Sabonis is going to be a game-time decision. Even if Sabonis plays, Young should be locked into 30+ minutes in a favorable matchup against the Kings. If Sabonis is ruled out, there’s a chance Young could play 36-38 minutes, which would make him a lock and load cash game option. The Kings are currently ranked 24th in defensive efficiency and 28th in rebounding differential.
There is Only One Center on my Radar
Andre Drummond is averaging 1.28 FP/min this season, which is the third best of any starter tonight (trailing only Russell Westbrook and Giannis Antetokounmpo). The only issue Drummond has had this year has been foul trouble and that shouldn’t be an issue tonight against Brook Lopez, who shoots a lot of jump shots and doesn’t attack the glass. The Lakers play at the fourth fastest pace and are ranked 20th in rebounding differential. Drummond has a good shot of posting his first 20-point, 20-rebound game of the season.
Zach Randolph (sore foot) questionable for Tuesday
Randolph has officially been listed as questionable on the Sacramento Kings’ injury report for tomorrow’s game against the Indiana Pacers with a sore left foot. Randolph was rested for Sunday’s contest along with George Hill but there may have been more to his absence than the Kings initially let on. Should Randolph be ruled out, Skal Labissiere can be expected to draw the start at power forward for the second time in as many games. However, Labissiere only saw 22 minutes of action in his previous start, adding some cause for concern with his daily fantasy outlook on Tuesday’s slate. The actual main beneficiary of Randolph’s absence in the frontcourt looks to be Willie Cauley-Stein, who has averaged 28 minutes per game and been the Kings’ most consistent performer from a fantasy standpoint by a longshot.
As reported by: James Ham via TwitterMarc Gasol (ankle) will play Monday
Gasol will play in tonight’s game against the Charlotte Hornets’ after previously being listed as questionable on the Memphis Grizzlies’ injury report with a left ankle injury. The Grizzlies are already without Gasol’s running mate in the frontcourt, JaMychal Green, and would have likely been forced to deploy Jarell Martin and Brandan Wright in the starting lineup if Gasol was unable to suit up this evening. Given the likelihood that Memphis wouldn’t have allowed Gasol to play if he would be limited in any way, he should still be fired up in all formats with confidence. As for Chandler Parsons, he has been transitioning to more of a small-ball power forward role with Green sidelined but has yet to eclipse 18 minutes of action in any game thus far, minimizing his floor and capping his ceiling, essentially removing him from consideration in daily fantasy formats.
As reported by: Rob Fischer via TwitterFrank Kaminsky (illness) will play Monday
Kaminsky has been cleared to play in tonight’s game against the Memphis Grizzlies after previously being listed as questionable on the Charlotte Hornets’ injury report with an illness that had forced him to miss one game. His return will essentially remove Treveon Graham from the rotation, though he still might pick up a few minutes of action while Michael Kidd-Gilchrist works his way back into game shape, however, Kidd-Gilchrist saw 23 minutes in the last game after seeing just 14 in his first two games back after dealing with a personal issue. The matchup with Memphis is far from ideal for Kaminsky so he can be easily avoided in daily fantasy formats given the workload concerns coming off of an illness.
As reported by: Charlotte Hornets PR via TwitterMarc Gasol (ankle) warming up with the intent to play Monday
Gasol is warming up in an attempt to play in tonight’s game against the Charlotte Hornets after previously being a late addition to the Memphis Grizzlies’ injury report with a left ankle injury. The Grizzlies are already without Gasol’s running mate in the frontcourt, JaMychal Green, and will likely be forced to deploy Jarell Martin and Brandan Wright in the starting lineup if Gasol deems himself unable to suit up this evening. Memphis could also roll with their version of a small-ball lineup more often, utilizing James Ennis at power forward, allowing Dillon Brooks or Tyreke Evans more playing time with the starting unit at the small forward spot. In fact, Evans has seen a massive usage rate differential of +9.0% with Gasol and Green off the court this season and leads Memphis with an elite 33.9% usage rate in the aforementioned scenario. Needless to say, Evans would become a great tournament option, if Gasol is ruled out, for an affordable price tag across the industry. As for Chandler Parsons, he has been transitioning to more of a small-ball power forward with Green sidelined but has yet to eclipse 18 minutes of action in any game thus far, minimizing his floor and capping his ceiling, essentially removing him from consideration in daily fantasy formats.
As reported by: Ronald Tillery via TwitterJ.J. Redick (back) ruled out Monday; Dario Saric will start
Redick has been ruled out and won’t play in tonight’s game against the Houston Rockers after previously being listed as questionable on the Philadelphia 76ers’ game notes due to lower back tightness that has now forced him to miss two consecutive games. With Markelle Fultz out indefinitely, Dario Saric will remain in the starting lineup, moving Ben Simmons to small forward and Robert Covington over to shooting guard, while Nik Stauskas should also enter the rotation and could have been a candidate to start if head coach Brett Brown didn’t decide to roll with his big starting five for the second time in as many games. T.J. McConnell will continue to handle basically all of the backup point guard minutes with Fultz sidelined and saw 31 minutes of action on Saturday, making him an intriguing value option now that Redick is officially unavailable as well.
As reported by: Jessica Camerato via Twitter Other tagged players: Dario SaricJonathan Isaac (illness) officially available to play Monday
Isaac officially available to play in tonight’s game against the New Orleans Pelicans after previously being listed as questionable on the Orlando Magic’s game notes with an illness that forced him to miss Sunday’s contest. With Isaac able to suit up, his availability is a knock to the projected value of guys like Terrence Ross and Jonathan Simmons, as the Magic should be expected to go with small ball lineups less often, especially in this matchup with the twin towers of New Orleans. That said, Simmons still does carry some appeal tournaments should the trend continue of him cutting into D.J. Augustin’s playing time with the starters and also being a primary ballhandler in the second unit.
As reported by: John Denton via TwitterManu Ginobili (rest) "probably out" Monday
Ginobili is “probably out” for rest purposes, according to San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich, for tonight’s game against the Boston Celtics as the Spurs are on the second night of a road back-to-back set. Ginobili typically sees around 20 minutes per night, as he has for the past couple seasons, and now that he is almost definitely out (he’s out), wing players like Kyle Anderson, Danny Green, and Rudy Gay will likely pick up the slack. That said, even if by some unforeseen turn of events Ginobili is available to play, he should not be expected to see his normal complement of minutes. With Kawhi Leonard, Joffrey Lauvergne, and Tony Parker all still sidelined with their respective injuries, LaMarcus Aldridge will continue to be relied upon to carry the load on the offensive end for San Antonio in what sets up to be a positive matchup in the rebounding department even though Aron Baynes will draw the start at center for Boston, while Dejounte Murray may have some sneaky upside in an excellent individual matchup with Kyrie Irving defense most of the night.
As reported by: Jabari Young via TwitterJonathan Isaac (illness) likely to play Monday
Isaac is currently going through his pregame shooting routine and is now likely to play in tonight’s game against the New Orleans Pelicans after previously being listed as questionable on the Orlando Magic’s game notes with an illness that forced him to miss Sunday’s contest. With Isaac looking on track to play, his availability is a knock to the projected value of guys like Terrence Ross and Jonathan Simmons, as the Magic should be expected to go with small ball lineups less often, especially in this matchup with the twin towers of New Orleans. That said, Simmons still does carry some appeal tournaments should the trend continue of him cutting into D.J.
