J.J. Barea will play in Game 3; Dirk Nowitzki will start
Barea said that he will play against the Thunder in Game 3. He has not been named the starter at this time so we should have another update coming from the Mavericks. His starting spot will likely hinge on the availability of Deron Williams. Raymond Felton played great in Game 2 and will likely start at SG once again. Felton is likely to have a ton of ownership coming off a game where he played 42 minutes. Barea’s ownership could be the difference in a tournament tonight. Nowitzki has been confirmed as the starter and is a viable tournament option at home.

Dirk Nowitzki (knee) expected to start Thursday; David Lee (foot) a game-time decision
Nowitzki is expected to start against the Thunder in Game 3. Dirk should only be used in tournaments because he has not performed well against in this series. Nowitzki sees an uptick of 2.8 fantasy points at home compared to the road and his ownership levels could be under 30% because of the recent struggles. With only three games on the slate, higher ownership levels are the norm but Nowitzki is not expected to be chalky. David Lee is still a game-time decision and we should have an update soon with the Mavericks playing in the first game of the night.

Deron Williams was not able to finish Game 2 and appears to not be ready for tonight’s game. Raymond Felton and Devin Harris stepped up in a huge way to pull out the Game 2 victory and we should see Felton starting once Williams is ruled out. Felton is a fine cash game option but could be faded in tournaments with his ownership expected to be high. Harris is also a viable tournament play and could be the lowest owned Mavericks guard. At the time that this was published, Barea was on track to play but he has now been confirmed. Barea’s injury history could keep his ownership levels low but if he named the starter later, it could spike the ownership.

The Hawks have listed Schroder as questionable for Game 3. Schroder only played 20 minutes and if he misses the game it could bring Kirk Hinrich back into the rotation. Hinrich only played one minute in Game 2 but could see 10-12 minutes as Teague’s backup. Jeff Teague has proven that he is a viable tournament option in this series and only saw a dip in production because of the blowout on Tuesday. If Teague plays over 32 minutes he should be able to slightly exceed expectations. Kent Bazemore played in Game 2 and also logged 30 minutes, we should see him playing 30+ minutes on Friday if the Celtics can keep it close.

Batum had an MRI today and looks doubtful to play in Game 3. “I wouldn’t be at all optimistic (Batum) will be ready to play by Saturday afternoon, “ said Hornets Coach Steve Clifford. Jeremy Lin will likely replace Batum in the starting line but the Hornets have really struggled when Lin has to guard Dwyane Wade in this series. Lin will need for Linsanity to strike again if the Hornets want to have a shot at winning Game 3. Looking at it from the Heat’s perspective, Wade should be considered an elite option in all league formats due to injuries. Kemba Walker has struggled all series long but that was expected with the Heat ranked 1st in DvP and 5th in DRE vs. PGs for the season. Walker will be the focal point of the offense if Batum is ruled out but is not viable for cash games due to the matchup.

Dallas is listing J.J. Barea, Dirk Nowitzki, David Lee and Deron Williams all as questionable for their game tonight against the Thunder. Barea had previously been listed as doubtful so this upgrade means he’ll likely play tonight. Williams and Nowitzki will almost certainly play and it wouldn’t be surprising to see Lee take the court as well in this pivotal Game 3. Barea playing would be a hit to the value of Devin Harris and Raymond Felton – we’ll update the status of these four later tonight when more information becomes available.

Ian Mahinmi "good to go" tonight
The struggling Pacers center will take the court tonight for their playoff game as he told media he is “good to go” – he could make for an excellent GPP option tonight as he’ll most certainly be under-owned after putting up just 18 FanDuel fpts in the teams two playoff games thus far but the risk of reinjury and/or not playing well is there.

Raptors Head Coach Casey stated Terrence Ross would be available to play tonight. While there were times during the season that Ross was an excellent DFS option, tonight will not be one of those nights as his playing time has dipped drastically of late (he’s played just 24 minutes in their first two playoff games). With DeMarre Carroll back in the fold and getting healthier, that’s not bound to change – expect no more than 10-15 minutes tonight barring some unforeseen circumstances.

“Based on how I feel now, I probably couldn’t play,” Curry said after practice on Wednesday. Shaun Livingston is expected to start and is playable in all formats if Curry is ruled out, we should know more tomorrow after shootaround. Andre Iguodala and Klay Thompson remain elite targets as well against the Rockets. Draymond Green’s salary has spiked to $9,400 on DraftKings which limits his upside.

Dirk Nowitzki has been added to the injury report due to a sore knee. He is expected to play but we won’t know his status until after tomorrow’s shootaround. If Nowitzki misses the game Charlie Villanueva will likely replace him in the lineup. Villanueva is not a strong DFS option but is a viable tournament play in the event Nowitzki is ruled out. J.J. Barea mentioned he is trying to play but the Mavs have listed him as doubtful for now. Look for an injury update tomorrow on the Mavericks.

Williams was questionable coming into tonight’s game but has been ruled out. Mo Williams was not a viable DFS option even when he played. Kyrie Irving should be considered a strong cash game option coming off a spectacular Game 1. He will have heavy ownership in tournaments as well but with only three games on the slate, it’s not the worst thing to deal with.

Olynyk did not play in Game 2 and is listed as questionable for Game 3 with a shoulder injury. As we mentioned for Game 2, Amir Johnson did not have a ton of tournament upside but still was a strong cash game play by hitting 26 fpts in 20 minutes. Johnson is averaging 27.02 fpts against the Hawks this season and scores an extra 2.1 FP/Game at home compared to the road. Marcus Smart is expected to practice after playing 30 minutes in Game 2. The starting unit was not effective for Celtics on Tuesday and they will look to rebound on Friday. Smart is in a time-share with Evan Turner who ended up playing 33 minutes off the bench on Tuesday. Turner did have 31 fpts in Game 1 so he does have potential upside needed to suceed in GPPs.

Montiejunas is expected to remain in the starting lineup against the Warriors. He only played 15 minutes in Game 2 and will likely not exceed 18 minutes in Game 3. This makes him a low-end option but he does deserve some tournament consideration on DraftKings. His price should remain under $3k (Game 2: $2,500) making him a cheap contrarian play with limited downside. Montiejunas does play better at home, averaging 15.70 fpts in 11 home starts since All-Star break. He has also scored 30+ fpts in two home victories as a starter and deserves a look in a must-win game for Houston.

Williams was not able to finish the Mavericks Game 2 victory making him a risky DFS option for Game 3. J.J. Barea who did not play on Monday is making progress in practice and is optimistic he can return. An MRI revealed a slight tear but the Mavs guard was quoted as saying, “I’m doing everything I can to get back in there tomorrow.” He is also a risky option but will likely start if he does play. In 17 starts this season Barea is averaging 26.4 FanDuel fpts and will feed off the home crowd’s energy in his return from injury. If Williams is ruled out, Barea’s ceiling grows exponentially. David Lee is considered doubtful and has not playing in this series so far.

The Pacers released their injury report for Thursday’s game and only C Ian Mahinmi is listed and he’s considered questionable. If he’s unable to go, Myles Turner and Lavoy Allen should see a significant uptick in playing time. We’ll update the status of Mahinmi tomorrow after the morning shoot around.
