Top line in great spot to secure first in their division

The Chicago Blackhawks have surrendered the most even strength HDCA/60 (14.15) over the past month. To make things worse, their goaltender Corey Crawford was taken out of last night’s game due to a groin injury. The Nashville Predators are one of the teams fighting for playoff seeding tonight, as a win would secure the top spot in their division. It all starts with Filip Forsberg, Viktor Arvidsson and Ryan Johansen. Look for them to convert on the plethora of scoring chances Chicago allows, and enter the playoffs on a high note.

Playoff Implications Abound For This Winger This Evening

There’s a log jam at the top of the Central Division which will see either the Nashville Predators, Winnipeg Jets or the St Louis Blues win the division and either play Colorado or Dallas on home ice in the first round of the play-offs. All Nashville has to do is win and they will win the division. The home ice advantage should help here especially against a Chicago team that beat the Dallas Stars on home ice last night. Viktor Arvidsson is the choice here as he has grabbed a team leading 33 goals while playing in just 57 games. Ryan Johansen and Filip Forsberg skate with him on the top line which should make this a very popular and productive line this evening.

Look For This Winger to Continue To Do Well This Evening

Just because the Blue Jackets eliminated the Montreal Canadiens does not mean that they wouldn’t like to move into the first wild card spot in the Eastern Conference to avoid playing the Tampa Bay Lightning in the first round. Don’t get me wrong, the Washington Capitals will be no picnic either as they are the reigning Stanley Cup Champions. Artemi Panarin has been instrumental in the team going 6-1 over the last seven games as he has racked up three goals and six assists over that time frame. He also leads the team with 57 assists and 85 points while his line mate in Cam Atkinson leads the team with 41 goals this season. Although Columbus is the away team they are still playing the Ottawa Senators who have given up 35 goals in their last 10 games.

This Top Line Should Have A Field Day This Evening

With this being the last day of the season and a lot of teams playing for nothing it is hard to not take a look at one of the top lines in the league over the last two weeks. The Red Wings have been out of the play-off picture for a while which prompted them to put Tyler Bertuzzi, Anthony Mantha and Dylan Larkin together as the team’s top line. Over the last two weeks the team has gone 6-1 which has been propelled by the 17 goals and 21 assists that the top line has collected. There is no reason that they won’t play this evening as they are not in the play-offs and should not rest anyone. The added bonus here is that they play a Buffalo team that has given up a league leading 44 goals in their last 11 games. Detroit is the home team which means that the top line will skate against whatever line that head coach Jeff Blashill desires. Larkin leads the team with 32 goals and 41 assists while Bertuzzi became the first player in team history to notch at least three points in four consecutive games.

Artemi Panarin

New York Rangers
4/05/19, 12:02 PM ET

This upcoming UFA is going to want to end the season with a bang.

Artemi Panarin is going to be looking to hit a home run this season with a new contract, so with two regular season games left and at least one round of the playoffs (hopefully), these are the final games for him to leave his mark and get ready to get a massive contract. The Columbus Blue Jackets control their own fate with regards to their playoff hopes, and they just have to win and they’re in. Panarin is playing on the top line with Cam Atkinson and Matt Duchene as they visit the New York Rangers. The Rangers have struggled over the last month as they’ve given up a 60.02 CA/60 which is the 7th most in the NHL and now take on a Blue Jackets team that needs to win.

Alexander Radulov

Dallas Stars
4/05/19, 10:58 AM ET

This winger leads the league in goals since March 1st.

You might be surprised to learn that since March 1st, Alex Radulov leads the league in goals with 12 in 15 games. He has put up 19 points in the same time frame and as the Dallas Stars ramp up for the playoffs, they are taking on a Chicago Blackhawks team that has nothing to play for and perhaps have checked out for the season. Radulov is playing alongside Tyler Seguin and Jason Dickinson on the Stars top line. Radulov and Seguin play on the top power play unit together which makes for a great mini-stack but having Dickinson as the other winger makes for a great salary saver.

Patrick Kane

This winger will be missed in the playoffs.

It is back-to-back seasons in which the Chicago Blackhawks have missed the playoffs and missing out on playoff versions of Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews is unfortunate. They’ll be playing together tonight on the top line with Drake Caggiula who makes for a very cheap third-wheel. Now, the matchup is tough against the Dallas Stars who are a fantastic defensive team and their goaltending has been great. Kane and Toews make for a great mini-stack as well, of course, but having a cheap winger helps make the full-line stack affordable. Over the last month, the Blackhawks have a 60.79 CF/60 which is the sixth-best in the NHL which helps mitigate the difficult matchup.

Cheap Blackhawk brings down cost of high-upside stack

Drake Caggiula is nothing to get excited about, but he is cheap and makes the team’s top line of Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane affordable. Caggiula has picked up an assist in back to back games and in the game prior to that, he did have four shots on goal. While Drake does not see power play time, he is a cheap filler and has shown some occasional flashes of upside. The Blackhawks and Stars should play at a nice pace tonight in this wide-open affair.

Sam Steel

Dallas Stars
4/05/19, 9:44 AM ET

Anaheim rookie has been outstanding since call-up

If looking for a cheap option at center, take a look at young Sam Steel who has seven points (4G, 3A) in eight games since his call-up in the second half of the season. Sam is centering two skilled wingers in Rickard Rakell and Jakob Silfverberg and seeing top power play minutes as the Ducks look to give their youngsters more run. Steel has picked up at least a point in five of his last six games and is a great source of salary relief.

Mark Stone

Vegas Golden Knights
4/04/19, 12:56 PM ET

This winger has struggled on his new team.

It has certainly taken time for Mark Stone to establish himself on the Vegas Golden Knights and it is obvious that he is still not quite comfortable. Considering the upgrade as linemates, his 4 goals and 10 points in 17 games leaves a lot to be desired. However, Vegas is still a dominant possession team with their 55.66 CF% and 61.64 CF/60 both ranked fifth over the last month. In addition, their opponent the Arizona Coyotes have struggled with a 22nd ranked 47.71 CF% and 59.07 CA/60. Stone will be playing with two others who have their first season in Vegas in Max Pacioretty and Paul Stastny.

Timo Meier

New Jersey Devils
4/04/19, 12:56 PM ET

This third-year winger has been fantastic this season.

In his third season in the NHL, Timo Meier has taken a huge step forward. He has put up career-best offensive numbers across the board with 30 goals, 36 assists and 66 points besting his previous highs of 21, 15 and 36. He’s spent most of the season playing on the San Jose Sharks top line with Logan Couture and Joe Pavelski and with the trio healthy and back together again, I expect this line to dominate the Edmonton Oilers tonight. The Sharks have been solid from a possession standpoint over the last month as their 55.24 CF% ranks 6th in the NHL. However, their goaltender Martin Jones has been terrible and that is the storyline as the Sharks head to the playoffs.

Sidney Crosby

Pittsburgh Penguins
4/04/19, 12:55 PM ET

This centre is having a sneaky-great season.

Sidney Crosby is quietly having a very good season. He’s tied for 8th in NHL scoring with 95 points in 77 games which is good for top 6 in points per game. This point total is the best for Crosby in five years and shows that he doesn’t seem to be slowing down at all with his age — despite him being just 31 years old. The Pittsburgh Penguins are hosting the Detroit Red Wings — a team that has struggled immensely recently. The Red Wings have the 30th ranked CF% with a 43.61 rate and their 64.14 CA/60 sits as the third-worst mark over the last month.

Victor Olofsson

Vegas Golden Knights
4/04/19, 12:19 PM ET

Top line rookie in prime spot to produce

Though Buffalo has been a disaster after their hot start, they provide some salary relief and upside tonight against an Ottawa team on the tail end of a back to back with a goalie making his first career start. Olofsson is averaging around 18 minutes of ice time in his four games with the Sabres. In the process, Victor has a goal and an assist with 13 shots on goal. At a cheap price across the industry (DratKings – $3,800 & FanDuel – $3,500), Olofsson is a great option in all formats.

Ryan O'Reilly

Nashville Predators
4/04/19, 10:15 AM ET

This center continues to drive his team in their divisional race

Ryan O’Reilly was acquired by the St. Louis Blues for practically peanuts in the offseason considering how dominant for the Blues. He’s centering the top line with Brayden Schenn and Vladimir Tarasenko on his wings. The Blues started off the season horrendously but have completely turned things around and are actually chasing their division lead with just 3 games to go. They’ve put up a solid 53.33 CF% over the last month which ranks 8th and a road game against the Chicago Blackhawks is a chance for them to continue this run.

Ryan Strome

Anaheim Ducks
4/04/19, 10:15 AM ET

This winger seems to have finally settled in on his newest team

Playing on the top line in New York seems to be working out so far for Ryan Strome. He’s playing alongside Chris Kreider and Mika Zibanejad and has put up some solid offensive numbers as of late. Since March 1st, Strome has 8 goals and 12 points in 16 games which is a great scoring stretch for him. Tonight the Rangers host the Ottawa Senators — a team that over the last month has a league-worst 41.62 CF% and also a league-worst 67.42 CA/60.
