Advanced NBA Ratings Matchups

Shown below are the matchups for each team’s expected starter against their opponent’s expected starter at that position. For the offensive player show, his offensive rating is listed along with his opponent’s defensive rating. The final column is the average of the offensive and defensive rating.

For example, if Ty Lawson is in the far left column. He’s the expected starter for Denver. If they are facing Golden State, the “Prob Defender” would be Stephen Curry. Lawson’s offensive rating (points scored per 100 possessions) would be listed under Off-Rate. Curry’s defensive rating (points allowed per 100 possessions) would be listed under Def-Rate. The average would be those two ratings added up and divided by two. A higher average is better for the player (i.e, more points per 100 possessions).
