Daily Batter Breakdown: Saturday, July 18th
Welcome to the Daily Batter Breakdown. Whenever there are at least eight games on the night slate, I’ll break down some of the best top tier hitters to target based on matchup.
The biggest split taken into account will be left/right, but each player card will also show park factors, player salaries on FanDuel and DraftKings among other sites, and then a description of why I’ll be targeting him.

| 0.988 | $3,600 | $9,050 | $4,100 | $73,500 | |||
Victor Martinez
Without Miguel Cabrera, Martinez is hitting third in the Tigers’ lineup and is still fairly cheap across the industry. He has homered in three of his last five games and while he has struggled against righties this year he has a .358 wOBA against them in his career. Tillman has not been good against anyone in a while, especially righties but has a worse career number against lefties. I would expect to see these numbers regress soon and Martinez is a solid option.

Casey McGehee
McGehee is one of the cheapest guys out there on almost every site. He hits in the middle of the lineup for the Marlins with Stanton out and will hit against Chad Billingsley tonight with the Marlins actually being a favorite against the Dodgers. Billinsgley has not been good against anyone including righties and while he only has a .316 career wOBA against righties, the cheap price allows you to grab some of the better pitchers on the slate.
| Kolten Wong | ||||||
| Daily Breakdown | Avg | OPS | HR% | wOBA | |||

| 0.893 | $3,100 | $6,800 | $3,800 | $58,900 | |||
Kolten Wong
Bartolo Colon keeps on trucking and while he has been solid this season he has not been a shut down guy lately. The Cardinals are a decent sized favorite today with a solid over/under against the Mets and Wong should continue leading off. The price is nice for him and he has a .358 wOBA against RHP this year which is much improved over the last few years. Look out for a Long Wong Dong tonight.
| Kris Bryant | ||||||
| Daily Breakdown | Avg | OPS | HR% | wOBA | |||

| 1.004 | $3,400 | $10,150 | $4,900 | $86,700 | |||
Kris Bryant
Manny Banuelos has solid stuff but the Cubs are decent sized favorites today against the lefty. I could see actually using both Cubs’ hitters and Banuelos in certain formats if the pitcher is cheap enough as he should rack up the strikeouts and give up a decent amount of long balls. Bryant has not hit lefties for great average but he does have four homers against them and a .393 wOBA which is a very solid mark.
| Adeiny Hechavarria | ||||||
| Daily Breakdown | Avg | OPS | HR% | wOBA | |||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Left/Right Splits | 0.264 | 0.642 | 0.30% | 0.279 | |||

| PARK-1 | PARK-LR | FD | DD | DK | FF | SS | FTD |
| 0.930 | $2,300 | $5,650 | $3,100 | $55,700 | |||
Adeiny Hechavarria
Hechavarria should lead off again today and with his price minimum on FanDuel and close to the minimum on DraftKings, he gives you room to grab Price/Kluber while still putting up a guy with SB upside and multiple hit upside who is leading off at a weak SS spot. Hechavarria does not do anything spectacular on offense, but he also is a part of a sneaky upside offense tonight who will face off against a guy in Billingsley who has been not great so far.
| J.D. Martinez | ||||||
| Daily Breakdown | Avg | OPS | HR% | wOBA | |||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Left/Right Splits | 0.308 | 0.902 | 5.84% | 0.387 | |||

| 0.988 | $4,400 | $10,950 | $5,200 | $92,900 | |||
J.D. Martinez
Martinez is on fire. He is absolutely destroying right-handed pitching and with Chris Tillman allowing a .405 wOBA to righties so far this year and Martinez’ 21 homers and a massive wOBA against right-handers, he makes a great play here today. I like stacking him with the other Martinez if you can, as the Tigers’ offense even without Cabrera is showing signs of life in the one game sample out of the All-Star break.
| Jorge Soler | ||||||
| Daily Breakdown | Avg | OPS | HR% | wOBA | |||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Left/Right Splits | 0.268 | 0.696 | 0.00% | 0.308 | |||

| PARK-1 | PARK-LR | FD | DD | DK | FF | SS | FTD |
| 1.004 | $2,500 | $7,000 | $3,300 | $44,700 | |||
Jorge Soler
Soler is incredibly cheap on both sites, and while he has been absolutely terrible this year, he is still one of the top prospects in the game and needs to be respected. I would only use him in GPPs, but he has shown us multiple times that he has dual HR GPP upside and with a green pitcher such as Banuelos on the mound, I would not be surprised to see Soler get it going today.
| Anthony Gose | ||||||
| Daily Breakdown | Avg | OPS | HR% | wOBA | |||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Left/Right Splits | 0.271 | 0.701 | 0.97% | 0.313 | |||

| 0.988 | $2,500 | $7,300 | $3,100 | $53,400 | |||
Anthony Gose
Gose is hot with multiple hits in the last game out of the All-Star break and stolen base upside against righties. Gose is hitting righties at a .335 wOBA and a good OBP which will give him opportunities to steal bags. I like most of the Tigers today except for the lower part of the lineup and I still like Gose even if he is hitting ninth.
| Josh Hamilton | ||||||
| Daily Breakdown | Avg | OPS | HR% | wOBA | |||

| 0.895 | $2,800 | $7,050 | $3,100 | $58,700 | |||
Josh Hamilton
Hamilton’s price is so cheap, and I like gambling on proven hitters with massive upside in GPPs whose price is extremely low and can help me grab some of the best pitching options on the board. Hamilton’s career has been derailed by certain things but he still has a few homers this year against righties and he gets to hit against a guy in Scott Feldman who he knows extremely well.
