How do you plan to beat the field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?
CheeseIsGood: This is a wide-open pitching slate at all different price ranges. My lean is to go with some of the mid-range and cheaper pitchers in order to stack up the high-upside offenses. I’ll certainly be thrilled to play Tyler Glasnow, Joe Ryan, or Ranger Suarez, but I’ll have more of the guys like Logan Webb, Garrett Crochet, and then down to Andrew Abbott and maybe even Robert Gasser. I am willing to go over the field on Texas, as I don’t really think we see extreme ownership here. The rest of my top tier includes the Royals, Orioles, Dodgers, and Braves. They are all so expensive that I’m not overly concerned with their popularity.
squirrelpatrol: I’ll continue spreading out my exposure to pitchers as far as possible in multi-entry contests while paying up for the top offenses. A few years ago, I remember seeing pitchers like Chris Sale and Max Scherzer have K props at 10.5. Today, we have 24 starting pitchers on the board with strikeout props, and every single one of them is favored to get 4, 5, or 6 strikeouts.
boggslite: This slate favors the elite offenses, which will have me looking to save salary at pitcher, especially on DK. I would love to play Tyler Glasnow and Ranger Suarez but won’t force them into lineups, with the Rangers at Coors Field and the Royals and Orioles drawing great matchups. Guys like Logan Webb, Bryan Woo, and Jon Gray have enough upside that it’s worth the risk targeting them, and the savings they provide will allow you to load up on bats.
ebeimfohr: I have found the best path for me to winning on these big slates, and it is often agreed to by our SimLabs. It is to target really strong offenses that project similarly to the other top offenses but are coming in with lower pOWN% for a certain reason. Maybe they’ve been underperforming, they’re more expensive, or the matchup seems a bit worse. But these elite offenses are so powerful in baseball right now that when the Orioles are projecting for low ownership, or the Dodgers, etc., they make for equally elite tournament options. Especially tonight, where I am interested in quite a few different pitchers, I can get access to those pitchers and the high-upside tournament bats.
Alex Sonty: I’m fading the Rangers at Coors in at least two of my three lineups — targeting Royals, Dodgers, and Brewers in strong power spots that the field will likely ignore too much.
