MLB DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for Tuesday, May 21

Who is your favorite hitter to spend up for in cash games?

CheeseIsGood: Marcell Ozuna
squirrelpatrol: Matt Olson
stevietpfl: Marcell Ozuna
eys819: Matt Olson

Who is your favorite sneaky stack on the board and why?

CheeseIsGood: Angels – I will be focusing mostly on the Braves, Cubs, Astros, and Dodgers, but we also get a lot of cheap upside from the Angels against Cristian Javier. It is possible that his last start was the beginning of a turnaround, but even using full 2023-2024 data, he’s just not very good against lefties. In 466 plate appearances against lefties since the start of last season, he has allowed a .202 ISO on just 18.7% strikeouts and 11.4% walks. Add in a massive fly-ball rate to righties, and there are a lot of ways things can go bad on him. The Angels have a cheap trio of lefty power to build around, with Nolan Schanuel, Mickey Moniak, and Willie Calhoun, and then we can start adding in righty power, like Taylor Ward, Jo Adell, and Logan O’Hoppe.

squirrelpatrol: Athletics – Our current projections show Cal Quantrill with the 4th-highest pOWN% on FanDuel and the 3rd-highest pOWN% on DraftKings, giving us the opportunity to stack against Quantrill and gain some leverage with our lineups at the same time. Oakland will be largely overlooked with so many top offenses in play, but they have the 6th-highest ISO and the 7th-highest wOBA in the month of May. Brent Rooker (.259), Shea Langeliers (.262), and Zack Gelof (.246) all have good ISOs vs. RHP since the start of last season.

stevietpfl: Orioles – Outside of the Braves and Cubs, I don’t expect any other team to be “chalky.” I don’t think Baltimore is going to be a low-owned team, but I want to be overweight on them in this matchup. I think they have one of the highest ceilings on this slate. Lance Lynn has an 18% strikeout rate against lefties this season while allowing a .359 wOBA and .180 ISO. Baltimore is going to have 6-8 lefties in this lineup. Gunnar Henderson is one of my favorite hitters on this slate. Colton Cowser and Ryan O’Hearn are two of my favorite home-run plays.

eys819: Athletics – The A’s are actually near a league-average offense this season, with a 97 wRC+. They still strike out far too much, but that should not be an issue against Cal Quantrill and his 16.6% strikeout rate. The Rockies bullpen behind Quantrill is also one of the worst in baseball. Their 4.57 SIERA is the worst mark in MLB, and their 17.8% strikeout rate is also the lowest in the league.
