Million Dollar Musings, Part II - Hitters: Opening Day, March 30
CheeseIsGood, a two-time winner of a $1,000,000 first place prize in DFS, is here to give you his musings on the upcoming MLB DFS slate. Whether you are looking for the top pitchers or the best stacks, Cheese has you covered with an extensive deep dive into his MLB DFS picks.
Welcome back! I am thrilled to be here with you for another season of baseball musings and other random topics. Whether you are a returning reader or a newcomer, I am excited to have you here!
This season, we will be following a similar format to previous years. We will begin most days’ MLB DFS picks by analyzing the pitchers and discussing the key stats that I use to narrow down my player pool for each day’s games. Then, we will move on to the batters, looking for high-upside stacks, individual power hitters, and value picks.
For those who are new to my approach, I recommend checking out a few primers I curated in previous seasons, which provide an overview of the pitching and hitting stats that I consider when making my selections:
Pitching Stats Primer
Hitting Stats Primer
Occasionally, I may delve into other topics related to the state of the game or recent trends that we are seeing throughout the season. If there is something specific you would like me to cover in a future article, feel free to reach out to me in the RotoGrinders Discord.
For those who are short on time or prefer a concise summary, I will always provide my world famous Cliff Notes at the end of both the pitching and hitting sections, summarizing my thoughts for the day in a well wrapped package.
Please note that while some of the words I use may be unfamiliar to you (or spell check), they are all real words! Don’t be a grammar jabroni, and we’ll get along fine. So without further ado, let’s dive in and get started!
Opening Day Hitting: MLB DFS Picks on FanDuel & DraftKings
Bird’s Eye View
On most days, we will be looking to filter out the teams and players in tough spots facing tough pitchers. But today, there are so many good pitchers, that unless you want a very small, and likely chalky player pool, you’re going to need a few bats against better pitchers.
But for a starting point, let’s look at the teams facing the bottom tier of pitchers:
Atlanta Braves at Patrick Corbin
Minnesota Twins at Zack Greinke
TB Rays vs Eduardo Rodriguez
Milwaukee Brewers at Marcus Stroman
Cincinnati Reds vs Mitch Keller
SD Padres vs German Marquez
Boston Red Sox vs Kyle Gibson
Baltimore Orioles vs Corey Kluber
KC Royals vs Jorge Lopez
