CheeseIsGood, a two-time winner of a $1,000,000 first-place prize in DFS, is here to give you his musings on the upcoming MLB DFS slate. Whether you are looking for the top pitchers or the best stacks, Cheese has you covered with an extensive deep dive into his MLB DFS picks.

Happy Tuesday! It is a very interesting 11-game slate, with a slew of good, but not great, pitchers that is leading to a very jumbled slate on both sides of the ledger. We have two spend-up aces, but then it turns into a tangled web of MLB DFS picks. I’ll find a few favorites here and there, but for the most part, I’m going to be spreading out a good bit tonight.

Tuesday Pitching: MLB DFS Picks on FanDuel & DraftKings

We have an interesting pitching slate, with two high-priced aces followed by some jumbled groups of OK, but not outstanding, pitchers. I’m going to sort things into three buckets based on DK pricing.

TWO SPEND-UP ACES

Max Scherzer at A’s – 27.7% K, 6.8% BB, 4.04 ERA, 3.75 SIERA
Framber Valdez at Orioles – 26% K, 6.1% BB, 3.07 ERA, 3.44 SIERA

UPPER MID-TIER PITCHING

Julio Urias at Diamondbacks – 22.8% K, 5.6% BB, 4.69 ERA, 4.11 SIERA
Lucas Giolito vs. Giants – 25% K, 8.3% BB, 4.36 ERA, 4.18 SIERA
Tanner Bibee vs. Blue Jays – 23.9% K, 8.8% BB, 3.14 ERA, 4.31 SIERA
Logan Gilbert vs. Padres – 23.9% K, 4.5% BB, 3.86 ERA, 3.82 SIERA
Mitch Keller vs. Braves – 25.4% K, 7.3% BB, 4.35 ERA, 3.88 SIERA
Yusei Kikuchi at Guardians – 24.6% K, 7% BB, 3.67 ERA, 4.01 SIERA

CHEAPER OPTIONS

Clarke Schmidt at White Sox – 21.8% K, 6.3% BB, 4.35 ERA, 4.22 SIERA
Kutter Crawford vs. Royals – 24.6% K, 5.8% BB, 3.62 ERA, 3.84 SIERA
JP Sears vs. Rangers – 22.2% K, 5.6% BB, 4.07 ERA, 4.52 SIERA
Wade Miley vs. Rockies – 17.5% K, 7.2% BB, 3.01 ERA, 4.85 SIERA
Grayson Rodriguez vs. Astros – 25.6% K, 9.8% BB, 6.09 ERA, 4.15 SIERA
Jameson Taillon at Mets – 20.2% K, 7.4% BB, 5.36 ERA, 4.62 SIERA
Touki Toussaint vs. Yankees – 21.6% K, 15.3% BB, 3.92 ERA, 5.19 SIERA

Do We Max Out The Framber?

max-scherzer-800x480

Max Scherzer at A’s – 27.7% K, 6.8% BB, 4.04 ERA, 3.75 SIERA
Framber Valdez at Orioles – 26% K, 6.1% BB, 3.07 ERA, 3.44 SIERA

Framber Valdez threw a no-hitter on just 93 pitches last week, and even with some unusually shaky starts prior to that, I would say that Valdez is the better real-life pitcher than Max Scherzer. But, of course, this is not real life.

Scherzer is the higher-strikeout pitcher, and those strikeouts have been much steadier, up near the 30% mark since the start of June. Both Valdez and Scherzer have trustable pitch counts with innings upside, and Scherzer has the preferred matchup on this slate.

I love Valdez, and he’s absolutely still in the primary pool, but Max Scherzer is my SP1.
