Million Dollar Musings: Tuesday, May 2

CheeseIsGood, a two-time winner of a $1,000,000 first-place prize in DFS, is here to give you his musings on the upcoming MLB DFS slate. Whether you are looking for the top pitchers or the best stacks, Cheese has you covered with an extensive deep dive into his MLB DFS picks.
Happy Tuesday! We have a good old fashioned barn burner of a slate tonight. We’ve got aces and shiny new toys on the pitching side, and we’ve got Coors Field hiding a lot of great offenses on the hitting side.
I will skip the shenanigans and jump right in to this slate to see if we can find some MLB DFS picks beyond the obvious.
Tuesday Pitching: MLB DFS Picks on FanDuel & DraftKings

This is a super fantastical pitching slate with a strong top tier of aces, a mid-tier that I’ll be skipping, and then three of the best young pitching prospects in the league at a discount. Here’s the bird’s eye view:
ACES FOR WINNING
Gerrit Cole vs. Guardians
Zac Gallen at Rangers
Hunter Brown vs. Giants
Joe Ryan at White Sox
Julio Urias vs. Phillies
I BELIEVE THAT CHILDREN ARE OUR FUTURE
Mason Miller vs. Mariners
Bryce Miller at A’s
Tanner Bibee at Yankees
ON ANY OTHER DAY
Jon Gray vs. Diamondbacks
Michael Wacha vs. Reds
Freddy Peralta at Rockies
Matt Strahm at Dodgers
Patrick Sandoval at Cardinals
GIVE ME A GALLEN OF COLE

Gerrit Cole vs. Guardians – 31.9% K, 6.5% BB, 3.10 ERA, 2.89 SIERA
Zac Gallen at Rangers – 28.4% K, 6.1% BB, 2.48 ERA, 3.17 SIERA
Hunter Brown vs. Giants – 27% K, 8.5% BB, 1.78 ERA, 3.40 SIERA
Joe Ryan at White Sox – 25.7% K, 7% BB, 3.42 ERA, 3.83 SIERA
Julio Urias vs. Phillies – 24.4% K, 5.8% BB, 2.51 ERA, 3.67 SIERA
The numbers listed above are combined 2022-2023 stats. If we just use 2023 data, Zac Gallen jumps way to the top with a 36.2% K rate and just 3.5% walks on the young season, and Joe Ryan jumps up to an even level with Gerrit Cole at 29.3% strikeouts.
The first thing I’m doing here is saying a quick goodbye to Julio Urias. He just doesn’t have the strikeout ability or current form to compete with these other aces tonight. The FD salary is a nice discount on Urias, but on a one-pitcher site, I am either paying up or going even cheaper.
FD has done a good job with the pricing, putting Cole, Gallen, and Ryan all above $11k and Hunter Brown at $10,200. However, we still find so many cheap bats that it’s not all that difficult to play an $11k pitcher. On DK, we see a much bigger gap between Cole and everyone else.
