Pitcher Grind Down
- Ubaldo Jimenez – Ubaldo has had 2 quality starts this season and 8 starts that weren’t so great. On the season he has a 4.98 ERA with a 1.54 WHIP and a K/9 of 8.2. Tonight he faces an Astros’ offense that has really turned a corner ever since George Springer started hitting. Ubaldo could make a deep GPP play, but is a risky option in cash games. Rating = 5
Salaries: $6100 FD, $15976 DS, $12150 DD, $8200 DK, $68500 FF, $18500 SS, $13200 FTD
- Brad Peacock – Peacock is a high strikeout pitcher, but he also has an ERA over 5.00 and a WHIP over 1.60. He has a less than appealing matchup against the Orioles who are ranked 10th against RH pitching this season with a team .320 wOBA. Rating = 3
Salaries: $5500 FD, $10916 DS, $10650 DD, $7100 DK, $71400 FF, $16400 SS, $10200 FTD

Baltimore
Chris Davis – This is the 3rd day in a row that Davis has made the recommended plays. He’s been a letdown the last 2 days, but has another terrific matchup tonight against Peacock who has given up a .380 wOBA to LHB’s.
Additional Plays: Nelson Cruz, Manny Machado
Houston
George Springer – If it weren’t for Edwin Encarnacion, Springer would be having the best month of any player in baseball. So far in the month of May, Springer is batting .322 with 9 HR’s. He is locked in right now and should be targeted in all leagues.
Additional Plays: Jason Castro, Jose Altuve

Pitcher Grind Down
- Ryan Vogelsong – Vogelsong has finally found his 2012 form. He’s given up 1 run or less in 5 of his last 6 starts. His ERA is now down to 3.20 and he has a respectable K/9 of 7.4. I think he is a viable fantasy option moving forward, but I will not be targeting him tonight against the Cardinals who have been heating up against RH pitching. A couple of weeks ago they were ranked near the bottom of the league and they are all the way up to 13th against RH pitching. Rating = 4
Salaries: $6100 FD, $13845 DS, $14550 DD, $9800 DK, $81600 FF, $23200 SS, $10800 FTD
- Jaime Garcia – Garcia has been a serviceable LHP in the bigs throughout his career. Over the last 3 seasons he has an ERA under 4.00 with a WHIP close to 1.30. He has a decent K-rate and a pretty decent matchup against the Giants who are ranked 17th against LH pitching. He’s a cheap option on FD and is a large favorite. Rating = 6
Salaries: $5500 FD, $15334 DS, $13150 DD, $9200 DK, $97800 FF, $22400 SS, $10500 FTD
Batter Grind Down
San Francisco
Buster Posey – Posey has been ice cold of late, but maybe a matchup against a LHP can get him going again. Posey has had an OPS over .900 against southpaws over the last 3 seasons.
Additional Plays: Hunter Pence
St. Louis
Matt Adams – Adams got the day off yesterday, but should be back in the lineup tonight against Vogelsong who has given up a .328 wOBA to LHB’s this season. Adams has been crushing RH pitching all season long (.370 batting average with an OPS of .924) and he’s a nice value play at 1B.
Additional Plays: Allen Craig, Matt Holliday, Matt Carpenter

Pitcher Grind Down
- Tony Cingrani – Cingrani hasn’t been great this season, but he has an extremely high K-rate and great upside. If this game were being played in a different ballpark, he would be in play, but Chase Field is one of the more hitter friendly ballparks in baseball. The total for this game is a bit too high to target either pitcher. Rating = 4
Salaries: $7700 FD, $17684 DS, $15200 DD, $8300 DK, $88300 FF, $20300 SS, $14300 FTD
- Josh Collmenter – Collmenter is one of those pitchers that has good numbers, but no one ever seems to take a second look at him. He has a 3.91 ERA with a K/9 of 5.6. While the Reds are still missing Joey Votto, I think their offense gets things going in this series. Rating = 4
Salaries: $5000 FD, $9503 DS, $12150 DD, $6500 DK, $67400 FF, $15700 SS, $ FTD
Batter Grind Down
Cincinnati
Billy Hamilton – Hamilton’s price is cheap enough across the industry that all he really needs to do to reach value is get on base once and steal 2nd. I like the matchup against Collmenter and think this is a great time to buy low on the speedster.
Additional Plays: Jay Bruce, Devin Mesoraco
Arizona
Paul Goldschmidt – It doesn’t matter if you have been playing DFS for years or if you just started this season, you likely know that taking Goldschmidt against lefties is a winning strategy. Goldy is batting .378 with an OPS of 1.07 against southpaws this season.
Additional Plays: Martin Prado, Aaron Hill, A.J. Pollock

Pitcher Grind Down
- Matt Shoemaker – This will be Shoemaker’s 4th start of the season. So far he has a 3.19 ERA with 20 K’s over 22 innings of work. He is a slight favorite tonight against the Mariners, but this Mariners’ lineup is littered with LHB’s to throw at the RH Shoemaker. He’s a below average option tonight. Rating = 4
Salaries: $5000 FD, $NA DS, $8700 DD, $NA DK, $NA FF, $NA SS, $NA FTD
- Brandon Maurer – Maurer is not a recommended fantasy option. He has an ERA close to 7.00 and a bad matchup against the Angels who are ranked 9th against RH pitching with a team .320 wOBA. Avoid Maurer in all leagues. Rating = 2
Salaries: $4000 FD, $8915 DS, $9450 DD, $5500 DK, $40000 FF, $13000 SS, $10000 FTD
Batter Grind Down
LA Angels
Albert Pujols – Pujols just keeps humming along this season. He’s batting .264 with an OPS of .880 against RH pitching and draws a terrific matchup against the struggling Maurer who has not been great against RHB’s this season.
Additional Plays: Mike Trout
Seattle
Robinson Cano – Cano is batting .325 against RH pitching this season with an OPS of .814. The HR’s haven’t been there for Cano this season, but it’s only a matter of time. I like the matchup against the inexperienced Shoemaker.
Additional Plays: Kyle Seager

Pitcher Grind Down
- Gerrit Cole – Cole has been a very reliable fantasy option this season. He is sporting a 3.76 ERA with a 1.34 WHIP and a K/9 of 8.4. He has a tough matchup against the Dodgers who are ranked 3rd against RH pitching, but his high K-rate puts him in play for tournaments. Rating = 6
Salaries: $8100 FD, $15715 DS, $15350 DD, $9700 DK, $102100 FF, $23000 SS, $12500 FTD
- Dan Haren – Haren may be one of the better pitching options on the board tonight. There are few aces taking the mound and Haren has really pitched well at home this season. In 4 starts at Dodger Stadium, he has a 2.39 ERA with a 1.03 WHIP. He’s a decent favorite against the Pirates who are ranked 16th against RH pitching. Rating = 7
Salaries: $7800 FD, $17556 DS, $14900 DD, $9500 DK, $83400 FF, $21800 SS, $15100 FTD
Batter Grind Down
Pittsburgh
Andrew McCutchen – Cutch has been good against RH pitching all season and has a decent matchup against Haren who has given up a .337 wOBA to RHB’s. Cutch also has 2 HR’s off of Haren in his career.
Additional Plays: None
LA Dodgers
Adrian Gonzalez – Gonzalez continues to crush RH pitching this season. While Cole has held both LH and RH batters in check this season, Gonzalez seems to relish facing tough pitchers.
Additional Plays: Yasiel Puig
