Pitcher Grind Down
- Eric Stults – This is a matchup between two below average LH pitchers and Vegas, like myself, is expecting a high scoring game. Stults struggles in his starts away from Petco and I hate his matchup against Goldschmidt and the D-Backs. Rating = 2
Salaries: $5500 FD, $8343 DS, $11500 DD, $5500 DK, $50700 FF, $13000 SS, $10900 FTD
- Wade Miley – Miley has the better matchup of the two starters in this game, but is still not a recommended fantasy option. He has an ERA over 7.00 at home this season and the Padres’ offense is finally starting to get healthy. Rating = 3
Salaries: $5800 FD, $13491 DS, $13350 DD, $5600 DK, $73100 FF, $16300 SS, $10400 FTD

San Diego
Carlos Quentin – As long as old man Quentin is in the lineup tonight, he makes a terrific value play in the OF. He’s batting .389 on the season with 2 HR’s and has a favorable matchup against Miley who is giving up a .341 wOBA to RHB’s.
Additional Plays: Jedd Gyorko, Chris Denorfia, Chase Headley
Arizona
Paul Goldschmidt – The D-Backs are in a terrific spot tonight against the LHP Stults and Goldschmidt will likely be one of the most popular plays at 1B. He has terrific power against southpaws and Stults is giving up a .386 wOBA to RHB’s this season.
Additional Plays: A.J. Pollock, Aaron Hill, Martin Prado, Cody Ross

Pitcher Grind Down
- Max Scherzer – Scherzer continues to go about his business this season with a 2.59 ERA (most of the damage coming in his last start) and a K/9 of 10.6. Scherzer is typically one of the top cash game pitchers on the board, but the fact that this game is on the road against the A’s with Gray on the mound makes him a better play on multi pitcher sites than he is on single pitcher sites. The upside is there, but he may have a tough time picking up the win. Rating = 8
Salaries: $11000 FD, $21199 DS, $20000 DD, $11100 DK, $125800 FF, $29900 SS, $18100 FTD
- Sonny Gray – Gray has been terrific this season with a 1.99 ERA and a K/9 of 7.2. He has a tough matchup against the Tigers who are ranked 6th against RH pitching this season, but I think he pitches well here. He will likely fly under the radar with all of the other top pitching options available which makes him an even better tournament play. Rating = 7
Salaries: $8600 FD, $17147 DS, $16250 DD, $9400 DK, $102600 FF, $26800 SS, $15100 FTD
Batter Grind Down
Detroit / Oakland
With Scherzer and Gray on the mound, this game could easily end up being a 1-0 or a 2-1 ball game. Avoid all hitters here and target some of the higher totals.

Pitcher Grind Down
- Alfredo Simon – Simon has pitched very well this season with a 2.31 ERA and a 1.01 WHIP, but should be avoided in all leagues tonight. Not only does he face a Dodgers’ offense that is ranked 4th against RH pitching this season, but he will see little to no run support with Greinke pitching opposite him. Rating = 3
Salaries: $6200 FD, $12972 DS, $14850 DD, $7100 DK, $59800 FF, $23300 SS, $NA FTD
- Zack Greinke – If you can only pick one starter tonight for cash games, Greinke is my best recommendation. He is a big favorite against a Reds’ lineup that is still missing Joey Votto. Greinke has been close to unhittable at home this season and has a terrific K-rate. Little downside with Greinke tonight, but he comes with double-digit strikeout upside. Rating = 10
Salaries: $9800 FD, $20498 DS, $20600 DD, $10600 DK, $123400 FF, $28000 SS, $18400 FTD
Batter Grind Down
Cincinnati
This Reds’ offense is struggling right now and I expect that to continue tonight against Greinke and the Dodgers.
LA Dodgers
Adrian Gonzalez – Gonzalez is batting .311 against RH pitching this season with an OPS of 1.00. He may go overlooked tonight against the RHP Simon as there are plenty of viable options at 1B.
Additional Plays: Hanley Ramirez, Yasiel Puig, Andre Ethier

Pitcher Grind Down
- Jered Weaver – Weaver has really pitched well for the Angels this season. He is sporting a 2.85 ERA with a 0.99 WHIP and a K/9 of 6.8. I typically don’t like to take RH pitchers against the Mariners whose lineup is littered with LH batters, but Weaver is getting love from Vegas as a -140 favorite with the total set at only 7.0 runs. Weaver is certainly in play on multi-pitcher sites. Rating = 6
Salaries: $7600 FD, $19719 DS, $16350 DD, $10400 DK, $118600 FF, $26000 SS, $13800 FTD
- Roenis Elias – Elias is a talented young LHP that has a 3.68 ERA on the season and a K/9 of 8.1. I still like his price on FD, but it has come up on most of the other sites. Tonight he faces an Angels’ offense that is ranked 7th against LH pitching this season with a team .334 wOBA. Elias is a better GPP play than a cash game play. Rating = 5
Salaries: $5800 FD, $11572 DS, $10900 DD, $7200 DK, $75500 FF, $18800 SS, $11500 FTD

LA Angels
Albert Pujols – Pujols has already hit 14 HR’s this season, most of which have come in the last month of play. He has always had great power against LH pitching and is sporting an OPS of .832 against southpaws this season.
Additional Plays: Howie Kendrick
Seattle
Robinson Cano – Cano continues to rake this season. He’s batting .325 against RH pitching and has 15 hits over his last 8 games. He’s also hit Weaver well in his career going 13/33 with an OPS of .848.
Additional Plays: Dustin Ackley

Pitcher Grind Down
- Jake Arrieta – Arrieta threw 94 pitches in his last start and it looks like we no longer have to be worried about a pitch count. He’s pitched very well with a 2.33 ERA in his first 4 starts this season. This game has an extremely low total and a few runs either way could be enough for the pitcher to pick up the win. I like him as a sneaky tournament play tonight against the Giants who have been average against RH pitching this season. Rating = 5
Salaries: $5600 FD, $11782 DS, $10950 DD, $6400 DK, $67700 FF, $17300 SS, $11500 FTD
- Tim Hudson – Hudson is the biggest favorite on the mound tonight at -180. On the season he has a 2.13 ERA with a 0.89 WHIP. His K’s have been down a little, but the Cubs’ 22.6 K-percentage against RH pitching may help with that. Hudson is one of the top cash game plays available tonight on both single and multi-pitcher sites. Rating = 8
Salaries: $7000 FD, $14976 DS, $18350 DD, $8700 DK, $109100 FF, $26500 SS, $15400 FTD
Batter Grind Down
Chicago Cubs
Tim Hudson has held both LH and RH batters under a .290 wOBA this season. While this Cubs’ offense has had it’s bright spots, they are still ranked 27th against RH pitching as a team and can safely be avoided tonight.
San Francisco
Pablo Sandoval – The Panda is finally starting to heat up. Over the last 7 days, he is batting .360 with a 1.22 OPS. He hit a HR off of Samardzija yesterday and this could be one of the last days where he is listed at such a cheap price.
Additional Plays: Hunter Pence
