The Wild Card round of the MLB Postseason came and went in quick fashion, with each of the four early-week series resulting in a sweep. On Saturday, the Division Series round gets started, beginning with a matchup between the Texas Rangers and Baltimore Orioles at 1:03 p.m. ET from Camden Yards. Three other games are on tap for later in the day, ending with a Hollywood affair between the Arizona Diamondbacks and Los Angeles Dodgers.

During the regular season, we went 103-63-6 (62.6%) across our last 172 recommendations in this article. We were 120-59 (67.2%) on pitcher prop recommendations.

MLB Player Props Today

Andrew Heaney u4.5 Hits Allowed (-140), BetMGM

By all accounts, it does not appear that Andrew Heaney will have a particularly long leash in Game 1, but that is only one reason to like the under in this spot. Playing at Camden Yards during the regular season, Baltimore had a significantly worse offensive slash line against left-handed pitching than they did against right-handed pitching. Moreover, a couple of key contributors in the Baltimore lineup, including Gunnar Henderson, have been much less productive against southpaws so far in 2023. Dane Dunning, Martin Perez, and the rest of the Texas bullpen are rested and should be available this afternoon at the first sign of true trouble. There are a number of different ways in which the under could cash here.

Spencer Strider u17.5 Outs Recorded (-120), DraftKings

Not counting his last two regular season outings in which the Atlanta Braves had little to play for, Strider has eclipsed this market number in six of his last seven meaningful starts. Included in that sample are two 7.0 inning performances against the Philadelphia Phillies during the middle of September. Though it can be tempting to look at those recent numbers and think that Strider is likely to repeat that performance on Saturday, it is far more likely that Strider is pulled before completing six innings in Game 1 due to Atlanta having a rested bullpen and a scheduled day off tomorrow before playing Game 2 on Monday. The under is the smart way to approach this prop in the series opener.

MLB DFS Pick’em

Ranger Suarez Less Than 3.5 Strikeouts, PrizePicks

Ranger Suarez is in a tough position on Saturday against an Atlanta Braves offense that led baseball in OPS and ISO against left-handed pitching during the regular season. However, with a day off scheduled for Sunday in this series, it is possible that Suarez will only be asked to get through a couple of frames in Game 1. Philadelphia has arguably the deepest bullpen remaining in the postseason. Following two strong performances from Zack Wheeler and Aaron Nola in the Wild Card round earlier this week, everyone in the Phillies’ arm barn is available and rested going into the weekend. This is a low market number, but it is likely low for a reason.
