Week 1 left more questions than answers at the running position. RB duos like the ones in Denver, Green Bay and Cleveland are sure to give fantasy owners headaches all season long. We did get to see some of the true bell cows shine though. Jonathan Taylor looked like, well, Jonathan Taylor rushing for 161 yards on a whopping 31 carries. You love to see that kind of volume if he’s on your team. It was also good to see fantasy football legends like Christian McCaffry and Saquon Barkley return to health and the endzone in week 1. Injuries are certainly part of the game, but football fans definitely hope the two of them can stay healthy this season as they are truly some of the most exciting players to watch when they’re on the field. Let’s take a look at how FanDuel ranks the RBs heading into week 2.

What it often comes down to, is which guy is going to score the touchdowns and catch the passes (in PPR formats). It’s a toss up for a lot of these teams. In Philly for example, all three running backs scored a rushing TD in week 1. So did the quarterback, which he does often. That doesn’t bode well for Miles Sanders going forward. He looked great in week 1; leading the RB room in carries and gaining 7.4 yards per attempt. He’s a talented player and he put on a great showing last week, but there’s so many potential candidates to steal his touchdowns it’s going to limit his ceiling as the season progresses. There’s a lot of names on this list. Here’s a few that I really like in week 2.

Saquon Barkley

Barkley looks like he’s officially back. The Giants put in some major work upgrading their 30th ranked Offensive Line from a season ago and it certainly paid dividends on Sunday. Barkley feasted behind the new front and new Head Coach Brian Daboll certainly looks like he wants to make him the focal point of this offense.

Carolina struggled with the Browns two-headed rushing attack allowing over 200 yards on the ground a week ago. I expect Barkley to find similar success and he’ll be a big part of the Giants passing game as well. Expect big things for #26 this week.

Joe Mixon

Now here’s a guy Chris Collinsworth voice that is heavily involved in everything the Bengals do. A true complete back. Mixon took all but one of the carries for the Cincinnati backfield and was the second leading receiver on the team with 7 catches. He will be involved early and often against a Cowboys defense who I expect to be on the field a lot this week.

The Bengals are going to be able to control the ball and the time of possession for most of this game due to the Cowboys inability to seemingly do anything on offense. That means a whole lot of touches for Joe Mixon. Big day for that guy.

Antonio Gibson

Gibson looked like many people thought he was going to look a season ago. He was effective on the ground at 4.1 yards a carry and was a weapon in the passing game catching 7 passes for 72 yards. That’s big time production in PPR formats. This week he gets a Lions defense who had all sorts of trouble stopping the Eagles run game. Poised to lead the charge on that front, Gibson should have a big day toting the rock. If he can manage to find the endzone, and catch a few passes along the way, look for another solid performance.
