The DFS Tournament Report is going to operate with a different format moving forward, as we’ve introduced a great new feature/tool here at RotoGrinders, ResultsDB, that provides daily congratulations to users on the homepage for their big wins.

Each week, we’ll highlight three of the winning lineups and look into their ownership correlations. To learn more about the ResultsDB, check out our forum post – Introduction to ResultsDB forum post.

You can access any date you wish to review past contests, but here are links to the ResultsDB for the past week:

August 23rd wilson1 Day

Sometimes your cash game lineup is just THAT good. Such was the case for wilson1 this past Wednesday, as his lineup not only took down all the major double ups but was the winning lineup in four different GPPs; the $175K Broken Bat, the $100K Walk-Off Home Run, the $75K Full Count, and the $10K Full Count. All told those four GPP wins were worth nearly $70K in prize money. Wilson1, whose RG username is mavs78, is currently #25 in the RotoGrinders TPOY race including being ranked in the top 100 of five different sports.

Let’s take a look at this cash game lineup that was good enough to take down the big money in some GPPs. It started with the pitching combo of Luke Weaver and Zachary Godley. The latter disappointed with just 12.45 fpts but the young phenom Weaver more than made up for it with 36.75 fpts. He utilized two Yankees in Gary Sanchez and Aaron Judge and the two were more than adequate with 35 fpts between them. The hottest hitter on the planet and the future father of CheeseIsGood’s children, Rhys Hoskins, put up 29 points to lead the way for the hitters on wilson1’s team but it was the amazing consistency of the lineup that stood out, as all of his hitters scored at least 12 fpts and the two Yankees were the only team he had more than one hitter from.

August 25th $444K Big 5 Championship

Speaking of having good days, that’s precisely what jpstaxx did on Friday, as he would take down two major GPPs and a Bracket Qualifier with his one lineup while going up against 26 max, 150 max, and 8 max limits in each of those contests. To be fair, jpstaxx did enter two lineups in the $275K Medium 5 Championship but get this… he entered the same lineup twice giving him a tie for first… with himself. The top score in the $444K Big 5 Championship was the big one though, as it netted him a six-figure payday of $100K.

What kind of single lineup can best the multiple entries of all the top dogs? One with solid but not great pitching from Julio Teheran and A.J. Cole that totaled nearly 45 fpts but at a discounted price that allowed him to pay up for some big bats. Some of those bats included standout performances from Giancarlo Stanton (43 fpts), Khris Davis (28 fpts), Justin Smoak (24 fpts), and Marcell Ozuna (21 fpts). And in a common theme we often see when a single entry player takes down a GPP, the lineup did not contain a massive team stack with three Marlins and two Dodgers his only pairings of players from the same team.

August 27th $80K Thunderdome

It wouldn’t be a ResultsDB Report without highlighting another big day from a RotoGrinders contributor and this time it comes from none other than Notorious, aka The Goat. In addition to having a huge day in PGA, the top 50 ranked Grinder took down the Single Entry MLB Thunderdome for $30K. His winning lineup was more than 30 points ahead of his nearest competitor and was also good enough to take down the $175K Walk-Off Home Run for another $25K in winnings (for what it’s worth it was his only entry in this $555 entry fee contest that had a 10 entry max). His lineup started with one of his favorite SP’s (if you’ve read the Grind Down enough you’d know this too) in Masahiro Tanaka who put up an impressive 33.55 fpts. The lineup was comprised of a White Sox stack of Abreu-Saladino-Davidson-Anderson-Garcia and those five hitters would put up a respectable 56 fpts between them. It was the three one-off’s though that would be the big difference makers, as Gary Sanchez, Giancarlo Stanton, and Starling Marte would combine for 62 fpts.

Congrats on the huge day Noto!!!
