Sunday Night Football Betting Picks: Cowboys at Eagles

Ben DiNucci makes the start for the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday Night Football at the Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles are massive home favorites against the injury-ravished Cowboys but cannot take the game lightly because the top spot in the lowly NFC East hangs in the balance every week. Here are a sports betting preview and Sunday Night Football betting picks for the Dallas Cowboys at Philadelphia Eagles.

Cowboys at Eagles SNF Betting Preview

The Cowboys suffered what could be the final blow to their disappointing season when Andy Dalton was concussed by a vicious hit from Jon Bostic in Week 7. Replacing Andy Dalton will be rookie Ben DiNucci, making his first start out of James Madison University by way of Pitt. We don’t have much to say about DiNucci. He ran the ball often in college (122 rushes in 2019) and should be on the run a lot behind a weakened offensive line. The Cowboys will return Zack martin and Joe Looney in what feels like a bit of “too little too late…”

The Eagles are not very healthy, either, but return a couple of weapons to Carson Wentz for Sunday. Jalen Reagor will make a return in a very timely fashion after the Birds lost DeSean Jackson (again) to injury in Week 7. Dallas Goedert began the week unlikely to play and somehow is off injured reserve and ready to suit up for Sunday night. Goedert will likely be heavily featured and makes for an interesting single-game DFS play in those formats.

Ben DiNucci is an even larger downgrade to a Cowboys offense littered with weapons. DraftKings Sportsbook makes this clear with the following receiving props for the trio of stud receivers — Amari Cooper (O/U 54.5), CeeDee Lamb (O/U 44.5), Michael Gallup (O/U 23.5). While the Gallup prop feels especially low — the books are projecting a very rough night for the Cowboy offense. Anybody else interested in playing the Eagles D/ST in the Captain spot on DraftKings as 10.5-point favorites?

The Eagles’ backfield will continue to be split amongst a few players with Boston Scott taking the lead role. Scott played nearly 74% of snaps against the Giants in Week 7 and figures for a potentially monster performance as a big home favorite against a Cowboys’ defense allowing 26.0 fantasy points per game to the position.

The Eagles opened the week at 7.5-point favorites. Writing these articles on the day of the game has been killing me lately with smaller margins. That said, I can’t fathom a world where a nickel of my money backs the Cowboys. With the worst scoring defense in the NFL (34.7 PPG) and ceding 6.0 yards per play, Sunday night is going to be a long night for Cowboys’ fans.

Sunday Night Football Betting Picks

Already showing my hand above, I want to get action down on the Eagles on Sunday morning. Over on DraftKings Sportsbook, I can grab the Eagles at 10.5 points. The line could move a bit more as other online sports betting sites show a larger spread.

Philadelphia needs a win to remain atop the division and is getting a bit healthier as the Cowboys are falling apart. After trading Everson Griffen to the Lions — the white flag may be up on Monday morning. I will lay the 10.5 points. Good luck!

SNF Betting Pick: Philadelphia Eagles -10.5 (DraftKings)

Cowboys and Eagles Player Props

Boston Scott Over 81.5 Rushing + Receiving Yards (-112)

The aforementioned lead man of the Eagles’ backfield in the absence of Miles Sanders, Boston Scott accumulated 92 total yards against the Giants in Week 7. The Eagles face one of the worst defenses in the NFL — especially against opposing rushers. Scott will be heavily featured and should pick up a few additional touches if the Eagles look to bleed the clock away. I love the over on this prop. Buy at DraftKings for a 2-yard discount.

Ezekiel Elliott Under 67.5 Rushing Yards (-110)

Use our FanDuel promo code to get these odds!

Elliott will likely struggle to find attempts tonight as the game progresses if the game script goes as the betting line projects. Zeke saw 12 attempts in a blowout loss against the Redskins in Week 7 for only 45 rushing yards. Tony Pollard saw 8 carries and 10 carries in the previous game after Dak was lost. The Cowboys might be easing up on their massive (ill-advised) investment with a capable runner in Pollard to share the load. Given the likelihood that the Cowboys will face a stacked-box all night, I don’t know that Zeke will find any room to wiggle. I will take the under.

First Touchdown Picks

Here are my first touchdown picks for Sunday Night Football at DraftKings Sportsbook. DraftKings Sportsbook offers an opt-in promo for players to bet on a first touchdown and receive site credit (up to $20) if that player scores a touchdown at any point but doesn’t score first. I will be speculating on all Eagles tonight.

Boston Scott +500

Jalen Reagor +1200

Dallas Goedert +1400
