If you haven’t already heard, SuperDraft is back with its $125,000 Red Zone GPP! The contest has been one of the best values in the DFS industry through the first two weeks of the NFL season. It looks to stay that way for the third week in a row — as of Thursday afternoon only 560 out of 7350 entries are filled. If you aren’t familiar with SuperDraft’s unique Multiplier format and scoring, catch up here.
Every week we review one of the top lineups in SuperDraft’s biggest GPP and then we break down a few of our favorite plays.
Here are the Multiplier plays I’m looking at for SuperDraft’s Week 3 contests:
QB Kyle Allen 2x – Not too long ago, it was Kyle Allen who had beat Kyler Murray out of the starting QB job at Texas A&”(player-popup #matt-murray)M. Murray”:/players/matt-murray-34513 transferred to Oklahoma as a result, and we all know how the story played out from there. On Sunday, Allen might have a chance to beat Murray again. This time, as the starting quarterback for the Carolina Panthers. Cam Newton status is questionable after reaggravating an ankle injury from the preseason. All signs point towards Netwon sitting this one out, as the former MVP hasn’t practiced all week. Allen started Week 17 last season, completing 16 of 27 passes for 228 yards and 2 touchdowns.
QB Mason Rudolph 1.7x – Mason Rudolph is another QB filling in for an injured veteran. Rudolph stepped in for Ben Roethlisberger who suffered a season-ending injury in the second quarter. Throwing for 112 yards and 2 touchdowns, Rudolph played well enough to give the Steelers a shot at winning, but they would fall two points short in a 28-26 loss to the Seahawks. The 49ers defense looks improved from last year, but they can still give up plenty of fantasy points to quarterbacks.
RB Darwin Thompson 2x – Both Lesean McCoy and Darren Williams sat out of practice on Thursday. Their statuses remain questionable, but even if just one of them plays, that could be enough for Thompson to meet value. Keep tabs on the KC running back situation between now and kickoff.
RB Christian McCaffrey 1x – As we saw reviewing Week 2’s winning lineup, it’s not necessary to choose a running back with a large multiplier in order to win SuperDraft’s $125K GPP. McCaffrey was unusually quiet in Week 2, but he should bounce back against Arizona. I actually like him more of Kyler Allen is quarter, as I expect Allen to use McCaffrey early and often in low-risk, efficient passes. In Week 1 McCaffrey racked up 39.90 fantasy points without a multiplier.
Devin Smith 1.95x – Michael Gallup, Dak Prescott no. 2 target, is out for several weeks. Devin Smith is the next man up. Smith played virtually every play in Week 2 once Gallup left the game and even recorded a touchdown. Don’t be surprised to find him in the end zone again versus the Miami Dolphins.
Nelson Agholor 1.65x – Carson Wentz receiving corps have turned into a corpse. Alshon Jeffery and Desean Jackson are both expected to sit out against Detroit. TE Dallas Goedert is listed as day-to-day and didn’t practice Thursday. Aside from Zach Ertz, Wentz doesn’t have a reliable target outside of Agholor. To add to the lure, Detroit has been eaten alive against slot receivers in weeks 1 and 2.
Darren Waller 2x – Waller isn’t as clear cut of a play as he was last week against Kansas City. At 47% owned and a 2x multiplier, Waller only scored 18.60 fantasy points (with the multiplier being applied). His 63 yards against the Chiefs keeps his multiplier at 2x.
