Week 8 Fantasy Football Quarterback Rankings

The top four QBs in the Week 8 Fantasy Football Quarterback Rankings remain intact, as the elite QBs keep hold of their top spots. However, there’s a fair amount of movement in the second-tier fantasy football QBs this week. Jared Goff and Justin Herbert get great matchups in primetime this week while many teams struggle to find their footing under center, struggling with injuries and rolling out backups.

Week 8 Quarterback Rankings

1. Jalen Hurts – He has the highest ceiling of any QB week in and week out, the only thing that could hold him back this week in an amazing matchup against the Commanders is a potential blowout.

2. Patrick Mahomes – We can almost copy and paste what was said about Hurts. He doesn’t have the same rushing upside, but Mahomes gets a wonderful matchup against Denver.

3. Lamar Jackson – He had his best game of the year last week and is the third elite fantasy football QB to draw a fantastic matchup.

4. Josh Allen – The Bills have been struggling, and this is the toughest matchup of the top-tier QBs.

5. Justin Herbert – A great matchup for Herbert and the Chargers against the lowly Bears on Sunday Night Football.

6. Jared Goff – This is the highest Goff has been ranked all year. He’s always been better at home and draws a top-tier matchup against the Raiders.

7. Tua Tagovailoa – The Dolphins offense looked beatable against the Eagles, but they should have a much easier time against the Patriots.

8. Trevor Lawrence – Despite playing injured, Lawrence looked like his dynamic self last game.

9. Matthew Stafford – The matchup is incredibly tough against Dallas, but I still trust Stafford to sling the ball a ton, especially without Kyren Williams.

10. Kirk Cousins – As long as Jordan Addison and T.J. Hockensen remain good to go, Cousins is a great mid-tier fantasy football QB.

11. Brock Purdy – I trust him to rebound against Cincinnati after the first two losses of his career. However, there’s a significant drop to tier 3 behind Cousins.

12. Russell Wilson – The Broncos will likely get torched by the Chiefs, and Russ will probably get sacked 5+ times. Still, he’ll also have plenty of opportunity to launch the ball in the second half, with the Broncos probably down big.

13. Geno Smith – Geno has been great, but this matchup is very tough.

14. Derek Carr – If Carr can’t perform against a lowly Colts defense, get rid of the offensive coordinator and try Jameis or Taysom, sheesh.

15. Kenny Pickett – The Steelers QB has been really good in the fourth quarter this year when he is allowed to run around and sling the ball. Something to monitor in case they start throwing the ball more.

16. Sam Howell – He struggled last week in a great matchup, but I’m going to blame the wind.

17. Jordan Love – He’s looked more lucky than good, and Minnesota’s defense looked pretty competent against the 49ers.

18. Joshua Dobbs – Dobbs looks to hold onto the starting job for one last week.

19. Baker Mayfield – I don’t have many nice things to say about Baker. Hopefully, the Bills offense plays well, so he has to throw a lot.

20. Deshaun Watson – Who knows what’s going on with this guy? Don’t play him unless you absolutely have to.

21. Gardner Minshew – It’s a tough matchup against the Saints, but he also just put up a huge fantasy score against the Browns.

22. Mac Jones – He will have to throw a lot to keep up with the Dolphins.

23. Desmond Ridder – Don’t look now, but Ridder has been a competent option recently.

24. Raiders QB – No, thank you.

25. Tyson BagentREALLY, no thank you.

26. Tyrod Taylor – Don’t even think about it.

Fantasy Football QB Notes

Jalen Hurts, Lamar Jackson and Patrick Mahomes round out a strong top-tier while Josh Allen is likely closer to tier two alongside Justin Herbert, Jared Goff and Tua Tagovailoa. There’s a pretty large drop-off after Cousins this week, so I’d do whatever I could to make sure I can start one of the top 10 Week 8 Fantasy Football Quarterbacks. There’s an even bigger drop-off after Geno Smith this week, so it’s imperative to be active on the waiver wire for season-long leagues in Week 8. Most of the lower-tier Week 8 fantasy football QBs have tough matchups, so I’ll likely be sticking with the top-tier options for DFS.
