Devin Vasselll (quad) available to play Thursday
Despite originally being listed as doubtful on the Spurs’ injury report, Vassell has now been upgraded from probable and will be available to play in Thursday’s matchup against the Denver Nuggets after missing extended time due to a right quad contusion, while Keldon Johnson was already downgraded from doubtful to out, as expected, with a sprained right ankle. The availability of Vassell will certainly help improve the Spurs’ depth at the forward positions, but Keita Bates-Diop appears to be the leading candidate to join the starting lineup since he logged 16 minutes in relief of Johnson in the second half of Wednesday’s loss.
As reported by: Paul Garcia via TwitterDillon Brooks (health protocols) ruled out Thursday
Brooks is a late addition to the Grizzlies injury report and won’t play in Thursday’s matchup against the Los Angeles Lakers as he’s entered the NBA’s health and safety protocols. Ja Morant is currently the only other Memphis player in the protocols, but he had already been ruled out with a sprained left knee. In Brooks’ absence, De’Anthony Melton will rejoin the starting lineup alongside Tyus Jones in the backcourt, and if he manages to see anywhere near the workload, he was seeing with Brooks sidelined earlier in the season, he becomes one of the top value options on the entire slate at his price tag across the daily fantasy industry. The Grizzlies will have the services of Kyle Anderson off the bench following his multiple game absence, but the minutes he absorbs will be more than offset by unavailability of Brooks, Brandon Clarke, and Ziaire Williams this evening.
As reported by: Shams Charania via TwitterHassan Whiteside (glute) available to play Thursday
Whiteside has officially been upgraded from questionable and will be available to play in Thursday’s matchup against the Philadelphia 76ers after missing two games due to a left glute contusion. Instead of turning to Eric Paschall to pick up the vacated frontcourt minutes in the second unit while Whiteside was sidelined, Utah Jazz head coach Quin Snyder instead opted to go small with Rudy Gay manning the five-spot and allocated more playing time to the members of the starting lineup. However, if Snyder doesn’t rely as much on his starters this time around or if Rudy Gobert gets in foul trouble, Whiteside could be an intriguing tournament option at his price tag across the daily fantasy industry this evening.
As reported by: Tony Jones via TwitterDevin Vassell (quad) upgraded to probable Thursday; Keldon Johnson (ankle) officially out
Vassell was originally listed as doubtful on the Spurs’ injury report, but he’s now listed as probable for Thursday’s matchup against the Denver Nuggets after missing extended time due to a right quad contusion, while Johnson was downgraded from doubtful to out, as expected, with a sprained right ankle. The availability of Vassell will certainly help improve the Spurs’ depth at the forward positions, but Keita Bates-Diop appears to be the leading candidate to join the starting lineup since he logged 16 minutes in relief of Johnson in the second half of Wednesday’s loss.
As reported by: Tom Osborn via Twitter Other tagged players: Keldon JohnsonKyle Anderson (back) upgraded to questionable Thursday
The Grizzlies released their initial injury report and Anderson is the only player with a change in injury status as he’s currently listed as questionable for Thursday’s matchup against the Los Angeles Lakers after missing multiple games due to back soreness. If Anderson can return to the lineup for tonight’s contest, his presence in the second unit should relegate at least one or two of Santi Aldama, Xavier Tillman, John Konchar, or Killian Tillie from the rotation entirely since head coach Grizzlies head coach Taylor Jenkins would preferably like to lean on his primary seven rotation players with Ja Morant, Brandon Clarke, and Ziaire Williams all still sidelined with their respective ailments.
As reported by: Evan Barnes via TwitterPaul George (elbow) ruled out Wednesday
As expected, following his late addition to the Clippers’ injury report, George has been ruled out and won’t play in Wednesday’s matchup against the Boston Celtics due to a right elbow contusion, while Nicolas Batum will make his return from over a two-week-long absence from COVID-19 and the NBA’s health and safety protocols. Batum will be subject to a currently unspecified minute restriction in tonight’s contest, but he will still take George’s place in the starting lineup alongside Marcus Morris at one of the forward positions. Additionally, head coach Tyronn Lue will start Terrance Mann over Luke Kennard on the wing, but with George sidelined, both players figure to see plenty of action regardless of starting lineup this evening.
As reported by: Ohm Youngmisuk via TwitterLuka Doncic (ankle) available to play Wednesday
Doncic has officially been upgraded from questionable and will be available to play on Wednesday’s matchup against the Memphis Grizzlies despite dealing with an ankle injury he appeared to aggravate late in Tuesday’s loss. However, there haven’t been any reports of a potential minute restriction for Doncic, so he should be expected to handle his usual minute allotment as the Mavericks starting point guard this evening.
As reported by: Mavs PR via TwitterWill Barton (illness) will start Wednesday
Even after being a midday addition to the Nuggets’ injury report, Barton has been cleared to play and will start in Wednesday’s matchup against the New Orleans Pelicans despite dealing with an illness. Meanwhile, Bones Hyland has cleared the NBA’ health and safety protocols and will be available off the bench after missing the Nuggets previous three games. The acceleration of Hyland through the health and safety protocols was thought to be an insight into the potential playing status of Barton, but even with Barton starting with no reported minute restriction, Hyland figures to be thrust immediately into a sizable role for an already depleted Nuggets squad this evening.
As reported by: Harrison Wind via TwitterHassan Whiteside (glute) ruled out Wednesday
Whiteside has officially been downgraded from questionable and won’t play in Wednesday’s matchup against the Minnesota Timberwolves due to a left glute contusion that has now forced him to miss two consecutive games. Instead of turning to Eric Paschall to pick up the vacated frontcourt minutes in the second unit last time out, Utah Jazz head coach Quin Snyder instead opted to go small with Rudy Gay manning the five-spot and allocated more playing time to the members of the starting lineup. However, if Snyder doesn’t rely as much on his starters this time around Jordan Clarkson and Joe Ingles could see their minutes allocations rise significantly over their normal averages this evening.
As reported by: Eric Walden via TwitterHamidou Diallo (face) will play Wednesday
Diallo has officially been upgraded from questionable and will play in Wednesday’s matchup against the Washington Wizards after missing the previous game due to a facial fracture, while Cory Joseph remains listed as probable with right knee inflammation but is fully expected to return from a one-game absence. The availability of Diallo and Joseph should relegate Josh Jackson from the regular rotation once again and Saban Lee has already been assigned to the G-League following serviceable daily fantasy performance in 20 minutes of action off the bench in Monday’s loss.
As reported by: Keith Langlois via TwitterTyrese Maxey (illness) will play Wednesday
As expected, Maxey has been cleared to play and will start in Wednesday’s matchup against the Charlotte Hornets after missing one game due to a non-COVID related illness. He’ll replace Shake Milton at point guard in the starting lineup, and with no reports of a potential minute restriction, should be expected to handle his usual minute workload in tonight’s contest. Not only will the return of Maxey send Milton to the bench following his solid daily fantasy performance in 35 minutes of action last time out, but it will also more than likely relegate Isaiah Joe from the rotation again despite his continued solid play in limited opportunities.
As reported by: Rich Hofmann via TwitterDean Wade (calf) active Wednesday
Wade has officially been upgraded from questionable and will be active for Wednesday’s matchup against the Chicago Bulls after missing extended time due to a strained right calf. However, with the Cavaliers active roster at full strength, there’s no guarantee Wade even finds himself in head coach J.B. Bickerstaff’s regular rotation on a nightly basis, and if he isn’t a DNP-CD, it’s difficult to envision him commanding significant playing time in the second unit.
As reported by: Chris Fedor via TwitterJaylen Brown (hamstring) remains out Wednesday
Brown was included in the Celtics’ initial injury report and as expected, won’t play in Wednesday’s matchup against the Los Angeles Clippers due to lingering right hamstring tightness that has already forced him to miss extended time. In his absence, Dennis Schroder should continue starting at the point guard position alongside Marcus Smart in the backcourt, and he’s managed to be effective for daily fantasy purposes over the Celtics’ previous three games. Additionally, Boston will have the services of Al Horford in tonight’s contest despite being the second leg of a back-to-back set, so his presence in the rotation could have a negative affect on the projected fantasy values of Robert Williams and Enes Freedom this evening.
As reported by: Jay King via TwitterBones Hyland (health protocols) available to play Wednesday; Will Barton (illness) questionable
Despite being listed as doubtful on the Nuggets’ injury report, Hyland has cleared the NBA’ health and safety protocols and is expected to be available for Wednesday’s matchup against the New Orleans Pelicans after missing the previous three games, while Barton has been added to the injury report and is currently being listed as questionable with an illness. The acceleration of Hyland through the health and safety protocols could be an insight into the potential status of Barton, and if he’s unable to suit up for tonight’s contest, Hyland figures to be thrust immediately into a sizable role for an already depleted Nuggets squad this evening.
As reported by: Mike Singer via Twitter Other tagged players: Will BartonPrecious Achiuwa (shoulder) downgraded to questionable Wednesday
Achiuwa is a late addition to the Raptors’ injury report and is currently listed as questionable for Wednesday’s matchup against the Oklahoma City Thunder due to lingering right shoulder tendinitis. Toronto is still without OG Anunoby and Khem Birch, so if Achiuwa is unable to suit up, Chris Boucher could see a season-high in minutes, though that isn’t necessarily saying much considering he has typically been held to low-to-mid teens in terms of minutes this season. It’s unlikely Boucher will join the Raptors’ starting lineup for tonight’s contest, as head coach Nick Nurse should turn to Svi Mykhailiuk to start alongside Gary Trent Jr. on the wing, but this will keep Boucher in a high-usage role off the bench with the upside in minutes and production needed for large-field daily fantasy tournament formats this evening.
