Lineup update: Nets will start Irving, Shamet, Harris, Green and Jordan Wednesday
The Nets will go ahead and start Jordan to matchup with Embiid, his first start in several months. Shamet gets the start to help out with ball handling, while Green and Harris stay at the wings as expected. Claxton will likely play the rest of the center minutes off the bench, but there’s a chance they go small off the bench now that Dwight Howard was ruled out for the 76ers.

Garrett Temple (hamstring) will be on a minutes restriction Wednesday
Temple will be limited to around 15-20 minutes according to coach Donovan.

Bamba was downgraded from questionable with a hip injury to out, and will miss the game against the Chicago Bulls. With Khem Birch no longer on the team, Bamba had been playing minutes in the 18-24 range as the backup center behind Wendell Carter Jr. Now that he’s not available, Carter will have to pickup a few more minutes, while Robert Franks will likely play again after he played 15 minutes in his team debut last game. Chuma Okeke remains questionable, but he could help out as a small ball five. It’s likely that Carter Jr takes the few extra minutes and ends up being a worthwhile play.

As expected, Lonzo was downgraded from doubtful to out and will miss the game against the New York Knicks. Coach Stan Van Gundy mentioned that James Johnson will give it a go. With no Nickeil Alexander-Walker either, the Pelicans will be short in the backcourt yet again. Eric Bledsoe will get the start at point guard, Wes Iwundu will start next to him, and Kira Lewis Jr. will play off the bench to handle the ball. With Johnson available, he should reclaim his role off the bench, and will likely play minutes in the mid twenties. With no Lonzo, this will be the Zion Williamson show; he averages 1.50 FPM per CourtIQ with Lonzo and NAW off the floor, up from his average of 1.31. Brandon Ingram will be a good complement to him, but in a tough matchup against the Knicks, it’s likely Zion or bust for the Pelicans.

While Allen returns to his usual starting lineup spot, Nance Jr. will be playing off the bench as Wade remains in the starting lineup. Garland is also available to take his starting role, moving Matthew Dellavedova to the bench and likely not getting past minutes in the mid 20’s.

The Cavs will get one of their guards back as they play the Charlotte Hornets. Sexton was downgraded to out due to his groin injury, while Garland was upgraded to available to play through his ankle injury. With Garland back, Dellavedova will be the biggest loser as he had played 34 minutes last game, but won’t be able to this game as he comes off the bench. With Jarrett Allen and Larry Nance Jr. returning to the Cavs, it’s likely that the Cavs stay in bigger lineups. Dean Wade is starting at the 3, and Issac Okoro is starting at the 2, so Garland will likely play the bulk of the guard minutes, with Delly and Okoro helping fill out minutes as well. Now that the Cavs have a crowded frontcourt, it’ll be tough to play anyone as the minutes are muddled. Garland is probably the best play as he has the safest hold on his minutes.

Birch will get his first start with the Raptors against the San Antonio Spurs, according to coach Nurse pregame. Nurse mentioned that the Raptors would be playing lineups much bigger than usual, which makes sense due to the dearth of ballhandlers they have. Birch will now be a great value if he ends up getting starter minutes, and he is a cheap salary across the industry. Once the Raptors announce their new lineup, it’ll be good to see how Nurse will approach the game.

Sexton and Garland are game-time decisions against the Charlotte Hornets, but luckily this is the first game of the slate so we should have the news sooner. If both player sit, Delly would likely be forced into big minutes, along with Issac Okoro

Despite Love playing 31 minutes and Delly playing 34 minutes in the Cavs last game, coach Bickerstaff declared that both will still be on a minutes restriction against the Charlotte Hornets. Although this may be just coachspeak, it likely means that neither player will get in the high 30s. As Jarrett Allen and Larry Nance Jr. have returned, both players minutes may go down anyways.

Temple is listed as available to play against the Orlando Magic. He’s missed eight games with a hamstring injury, but now is back. He may play some spot minutes off the bench, but is not a lock to have minutes and shouldn’t be considered on tonight’s slate.

On the second half of a back-to-back, the Thunder will be without a few contributors against the Golden State Warriors. Dort will miss the back half after a career high performance yesterday; he’ll sit due to a shoulder injury. Poku, Muscala, and Deck will all miss their second straight game. Hall is questionable after playing 15 minutes yesterday. With no Dort or Poku, the Thunder will look to replace their minutes with a variety of players. Svi Mykhailiuk should enter the starting lineup and will be a good play at a cheap salary, while Poku should be replaced by Darius Bazley yet again. CourtIQ shows us a few interesting trends. With Dort, SGA, Horford, and Poku off the floor, Isaiah Roby sees the biggest bump: he averages 1 FPM, up from his 0.88 average. Theo Maledon also will be a better play now that Dort is out; in 160 minutes, he has a 27% usage which leads the team. Dort’s absence may go unnoticed on tonight’s 11 game slate, but it shouldn’t as some value may be attainted from the Thunder.

Turner and McDermott both popped up as questionable on the injury report due to ankle injuries as the Pacers prepare to play the Houston Rockets. Turner has missed the last four games, while McDermott hurt his ankle in the Pacers game last night. The Pacers have been starting Domantas Sabonis at center, with Justin Holiday as a small-ball power forward. McDermott has been coming off the bench since the Pacers went to the new lineup. If Turner ends up sitting, Sabonis and Caris Levert show big bumps in production; per CourtIQ, Levert averages 1.18 FPM, up from his 1.03 average, while Sabonis is at 1.33 FPM, up from his 1.24 average. If McDermott ends up sitting, it would be more minutes for Justin Holiday, Edmond Sumner, and Jeremy Lamb off the bench.

After being listed as probable earlier in the day with a knee injury, Rozier was upgraded to available to play against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Rozier missed yesterday’s game but is back today, while PJ Washington will miss his second straight game due to his ankle sprain. LaMelo Ball, Gordon Hayward, and Malik Monk are all out still as well. Rozier willjump back into the starting lineup alongside Devonte’ Graham, and may have to play heavy minutes as the Hornets don’t have many ballhandlers other than Graham and Brad Wannamaker. With Washington sitting today, Bismack Biyombo will get another start, with Jalen McDaniels and Miles Bridges playing at the forward positions. Coach Borrego usually runs his starters for heavy minutes, so it’s likely Rozier, McDaniels, and Biyombo are good plays at various price points, while Graham and Bridges get some run as well.

Portis will get the start in place of Giannis, as he has the last few games. Tucker will come off the bench in his first game back.

On the second half of a back-to-back, the Heat will be missing at least one regular as they prepare to take on the Denver Nuggets. Dragic will be held out due to rest, while Butler is questionable with an ankle tweak that he had last night. With no Dragic and no Victor Oladipo, the Heat will have some guard minutes that need to be filled. Kendrick Nunn has been starting in place of Oladipo, and should have to again. Dragic has been playing off the bench, so those minutes will likely go to Tyler Herro, along with a few to Nunn. Gabe Vincent may re-enter the rotation and play a few spot minutes as well. From a production standpoint, Bam Adebayo gets a slight bump; he averages 1.33 FPM per CourtIQ with Dragic and Oladipo (and Kelly Olynyk) off the floor. Herro and Nunn would be good plays as well as Butler. If Butler ends up sitting, there would be a huge source of minutes and usage that would open up. Bam and Herro get even bigger bumps up per CourtIQ, along with Nunn. Trevor Ariza and Andre Iguodala would also have to play more minutes to help fill out at the wings. Butler’s absence looms large ahead of tonight’s slate.
