Cam Reddish (Achilles) officially out Wednesday
As expected, Reddish has officially been downgraded from doubtful and won’t play in Wednesday’s matchup against the Boston Celtics due to right Achilles soreness that has now forced him to miss two straight games, while John Collins is still being evaluated for a concussion and will be a game-time decision for tonight’s contest. In Reddish’s absence, Tony Snell will likely be the main benefactor of additional playing time once again and is still a candidate to join the starting lineup at small forward as he had seen more minutes than Solomon Hill off the bench in each of the previous three games. If Collins is unable to suit up, it would likely allow one of Bruno Fernando or Onyeka Okongwu to join the rotation to absorb the backup center minutes whereas Hill and Danilo Gallinari would handle a majority of the power forward minutes this evening.
As reported by: Brad Rowland via TwitterJerami Grant (rest) listed out Wednesday
Grant is a new addition to the Pistons’ injury report and is now listed out for Wednesday’s matchup against the New Orleans Pelicans due to rest purposes on the second leg of a back-to-back set after logging just under 34 minutes in Tuesday’s win. In Grant’s absence, Sekou Doumbouya appears to be the likeliest candidate to join the starting lineup at power forward, while Svi Mykhailiuk should head back to the bench to assume a reserve role following his spot start in place of Wayne Ellington, who will return from a one-game absence for rest, last time out. Assuming Dounbouya doesn’t step directly into Grant’s vacated minute allotment, which is unlikely, Josh Jackson and Saddiq Bey should see all the minutes they can handle in tonight’s contest, and Jackson easily leads the Pistons with a 34.4% usage rate with Grant and all the other injured or departed players off the court this season.
As reported by: NBA Official Injury ReportJarrett Culver (ankle) probable Wednesday
Culver has been upgraded to probable on the Timberwolves’ initial report for Wednesday’s matchup against the Chicago Bulls after missing the previous 16 games due to a sprained left ankle. With Culver on track to return, Minnesota is on pace to have everyone but D’Angelo Russell available to play in tonight’s contest, which makes their forward rotation potentially difficult to project, especially with this being only the second game for Chris Finch as the Timberwolves’ new head coach. It remains unclear how Culver will fit in the new coaching regime’s plans, but even if Culver is set to have a major role at some point, he will likely have some sort of minute restriction given the length of his absence from competitive basketball.
As reported by: Timberwolves PR via TwitterKemba Walker (rest) officially out Wednesday
As expected, Walker was included on the Celtics’ initial injury report and won’t play in Wednesday’s matchup against the Atlanta Hawks due to rest purposes on the second leg of a back-to-back set after logging just over 33 minutes in Tuesday’s loss. Boston is still without Marcus Smart because of his respective ailment, so with the team fairly depleted in the backcourt, head coach Brad Stevens likely won’t hesitate to roll out lineup combinations with Jayson Tatum running the point. In fact, Stevens went as far as to start Javonte Green the last time Walker was unavailable but has largely been out of the rotation since seeing 24 minutes of action in that spot start, so it appears more likely someone like Aaron NeSmith or Payton Pritchard receive the starting nod instead, making them intriguing daily fantasy options should they start since they already currently have a significant role in the second unit.
As reported by: Keith Smith via TwitterLou Williams (rest) ruled out Tuesday
Despite never being listed on the Clippers’ injury report, head coach Tyronn Lue disclosed to reporters during his pregame media availability that Williams won’t play in Tuesday’s matchup against the Washington Wizards due to rest purposes ahead of a five-game road trip. In Williams’ absence, Reggie Jackson will likely take on a larger role in the second unit as he’s been behind Terance Mann in the rotational pecking order of late whereas Luke Kennard has strung together several consecutive DNP-CDs with the team at full strength. It remains to be seen if that trend becomes the new normal, but either way, Jackson and Mann are nothing more than tournament punt options given the volatility of their minutes with Patrick Beverley, Paul George, and Kawhi Leonard all active and available to play this evening.
As reported by: Andrew Greif via TwitterCam Reddish (Achilles) officially out Tuesday
As expected, Reddish has officially been downgraded from doubtful and won’t play in Tuesday’s matchup against the Cleveland Cavaliers due to right Achilles soreness, while Rajon Rondo will be available to play after missing the past seven games with low back pain. In Reddish’s absence, Tony Snell could be the main benefactor of additional playing time, and may even be a candidate to join the starting lineup at small forward as he’s seen more minutes than Solomon Hill off the bench in each of the previous three games. As for Rondo, he’ll likely be subject to some kind of minute restriction in his return, but with Trae Young healthy that shouldn’t be much of an issue since the two rarely share the floor together. However, Rondo’s availability could still relegate one or both of Skylar Mays and Brandon Goodwin from the backcourt rotation entirely.
As reported by: Mike Conti via TwitterCam Reddish (Achilles) downgraded to doubtful Tuesday; Rajon Rondo (back) available to play
Despite originally being listed as probable on the Hawks’ injury report, Reddish is now listed as doubtful for Tuesday’s matchup against the Cleveland Cavaliers due to right Achilles soreness, while Rondo will be available to play after missing the past seven games with low back pain.
As reported by: Brad Rowland via Twitter Other tagged players: Rajon RondoWayne Ellington (rest) listed out Tuesday
Ellington has been added to the Pistons’ injury report and is listed out for Tuesday’s matchup against the Orlando Magic due to rest purposes on the front end of a back-to-back set. This is the first time Ellington has been held out for rest this season, and it’s a bit of a surprising move considering he rarely plays more than low-20s minutes on a given night, even as a starter. However, this could just be yet another signal that Detroit is heading into a full-on tanking mode and wants to get longer looks at their younger wing players like Josh Jackson and Svi Mykhailiuk more often moving forward. As for Jackson, he appears to be the most logical candidate to join the starting lineup alongside Saddiq Bey on the wing, but if head coach Dwane Casey prefers to keep him in his usual bench role, Mykhailiuk could just step into Ellington’s vacated minutes as the nominal starter.
As reported by: NBA Official Injury ReportKristaps Porzingis (back) and Maxi Kleber (ankle) listed out Tuesday
Porzingis has officially been ruled out and won’t play in Tuesday’s matchup against the Boston Celtics due to low back tightness that has now forced him to miss two games, while Maxi Kleber will also be unavailable after spraining his ankle during Monday’s win. There has yet to be any confirmation on who will replace Porzingis in the starting lineup, but if head coach Rick Carlisle opts to stick with his big starting lineup once again, either Dwight Powell or Willie Cauley-Stein will likely receive the starting nod at the center position. On top of that, their minute floors will be far more secure with Kleber sidelined, as evidenced by Powell’s 27 minutes last night, and the only thing standing between them and all of the available center minutes is a random Boban Marjanovic appearance off the bench this evening.
As reported by: NBA Official Injury Report Other tagged players: Maxi KleberTyler Herro (hip) ruled out Monday
Herro has officially been downgraded from questionable and won’t play in Monday’s matchup against the Oklahoma City Thunder due to a right hip contusion he sustained during the third quarter of Saturday’s win. Since Goran Dragic and Avery Bradley are both still sidelined with their respective ailments, Gabe Vincent and Max Strus both figure to see regular rotation minutes with the second unit, but given the fact Herro has been playing mostly off-ball since Jimmy Butler returned from his COVID-related absence, Strus figures to have the clearer path to playing time and makes him the clear preferred punt option in tournaments on daily fantasy sites across the industry this evening.
As reported by: Tim Reynolds via TwitterKristaps Porzingis (back) ruled out Monday
Porzingis has officially been downgraded from questionable and won’t play in Monday’s matchup against the Memphis Grizzlies due to low back tightness, while Josh Richardson has been cleared to play following his original probable designation on the Mavericks’ injury report with left hip tightness. There has yet to be any clarification on who will replace Porzingis in the starting lineup, but if head coach Rick Carlisle opts to stick with his big starting lineup, either Willie Cauley-Stein or Dwight Powell will likely receive the starting nod at the center position. However, their minute floors will be far from secure with Maxi Kleber’s ability to play the five in smaller lineup combinations, which could potentially lead to a larger minute workload for Tim Hardaway Jr. off the bench this evening.
As reported by: Eddie Sefko via TwitterAl Horford (rest) listed out Monday
As expected, Horford has been included on the Thunder’s initial injury report and is listed out for Monday’s matchup against the Miami Heat due to rest purposes on the second leg of a back-to-back set after logging just under 28 minutes in Sunday’s win. In his absence, Isaiah Roby will likely receive the starting nod at the center position once again, and he’s proven to be useful for fantasy purposes in this situation in the past while averaging just under 27 minutes per start. However, Roby has seen his price increase on certain sites across the industry in recent weeks, so he is far from a lock with Mike Muscala available off the bench to absorb a large portion of the vacated center minutes this evening.
As reported by: NBA Official Injury ReportDeMarcus Cousins (heel) and Victor Oladipo (foot) listed out Monday
Cousins has been downgraded from questionable and is now listed out on the Rockets’ injury report for Monday’s matchup against the Chicago Bulls due to right heel soreness, while Oladipo remains out with a strained right foot. The absence of Cousins will leave Houston without their two main centers in tonight’s contest, which should lead to an extensive amount of smaller lineup combinations with P.J. Tucker and Jae’Sean seeing minutes at the five. The Rockets also recently signed Justin Pattion to a non-guaranteed contract late last week, so it appears likely he’ll at least get a crack at some center minutes as Houston continues to try and go younger in the frontcourt by moving on from Cousins in the coming days. With Oladipo and Wood also still unavailable, John Wall will continue to be the primary option and facilitator on offense, and he has led the team by a wide margin in usage rate and assists rate with the aforementioned players off the court.
As reported by: NBA Official Injury Report Other tagged players: Victor OladipoHarrison Barnes (foot) ruled out Sunday, Richaun Holmes (knee) available
Despite coach Walton claiming that Holmes was unlikely to play due to his knee injury, he has been deemed available to play and will start, while Barnes is inactive. The Kings will start Holmes along with Fox, Hield, Bagley, and DaQuan Jeffries joining the lineup after playing off the bench yesterday. There was no mention on any minutes limits, so it looks like Holmes will have his usual allotment of minutes. Cory Joseph returns to the bench and should play more of the backup point guard minutes. Bagley should take advantage of Barnes’ absence, as he averages 1.23 FPM with Barnes and Robinson off the court, up from 1.04 FPM per CourtIQ
As reported by: James Ham via Twitter Other tagged players: Harrison BarnesRichaun Holmes (knee) and Harrison Barnes (foot) not likely to play Sunday
In his pre-game news conference, coach Luke Walton mentioned that both Holmes and Barnes are going to warmup and be game-time decisions, but that he does not plan on having them available for tonight’s game against the Milwaukee Bucks. This would be the second game in a row that the pair misses, and without Glenn Robinson III and Chimezie Metu, the Kings will be shorthanded in the front court again. Hassan Whiteside should get the start, but his minutes are volatile, as evidenced by the sixteen he played yesterday despite getting the start. Marvin Bagley played 35 minutes yesterday despite being on a minutes limit, while Nemanja Bjelica and DaQuan Jeffries both came off the bench and could be in line for a few extra minutes as well.
