Mike Scott

Philadelphia 76ers

Mike Scott (knee contusion) ruled out Saturday

Mike Scott (knee contusion) ruled out Saturday. His absence isn’t going to have much impact on the rotation – Mattisse Thybulle could see some extra run off the bench and Doc Rivers could lean a little more heavily on Tobias Harris at the PF spot. Scott will be reevaluated in the coming days but could miss additional time beyond Saturday.

Danilo Gallinari (ankle) and Rajon Rondo (knee) both ruled out Saturday

Danilo Gallinari (ankle) and Rajon Rondo (knee) both ruled out Saturday. Gallo has been in and out of the lineup to start the season, but his absence should lead to extra court time for a combination of DeAndre Hunter, John Collins and Solomon Hill. With Rondo still out, Brandon Goodwin should hold onto his rotation role behind Trae Young.

Terrence Ross (hamstring) says he will play Saturday

Terrence Ross (hamstring) says he will play Saturday. He entered the day with a probable tag, so no real surprise here. He figures to see 25-28 minutes as the first guy off the bench for Orlando this evening.

Immanuel Quickley

Immanuel Quickley (sore left hip) has been upgraded to probable Saturday

Immanuel Quickley (sore left hip) has been upgraded to probable Saturday. It looks like he’ll return to the rotation, which could eat into Elfrid Payton’s playing time and could also lead to a little less run for Austin Rivers or RJ Barrett. It’s not totally clear what Quickley’s role is yet, but he figures to work in off the bench and provide a spark offensively. Quickley put up a couple big stat lines in preseason.

Gary Trent Jr.

Milwaukee Bucks
1/01/21, 10:15 PM ET

Gary Trent Jr. (calf) ruled out Friday

Trail Blazers head coach Terry Stotts confirmed Trent Jr. won’t be available to play in Wednesday’s matchup against the Los Angeles Clippers after previously being listed as questionable on the injury report with a strained left calf that has now forced him to miss two consecutive games. The Blazers will have Carmelo Anthony back for a second straight contest following his clearance of the necessary health and safety protocols related to COVID-19, so he’ll more than likely step into a majority of Trent’s vacated minutes with the second unit, while Anfernee Simons could see a bit more playing time as a secondary guard when one of Damian Lillard or C.J. McCollum off the court this evening.

Draymond Green

Golden State Warriors
1/01/21, 10:41 PM ET

Draymond Green (foot) and Eric Paschall (knee) available to play Friday

As expected, Green has been upgraded from probable and will make his season debut in Friday’s matchup against the Portland Trail Blazers after being sidelined all through training camp, preseason, and the regular season thus far for various reasons, ranging from COVID-19 to right foot soreness. Meanwhile, Paschall will also be available to play following his original questionable designation on the Warriors’ injury report, but he’s been behind Juan Toscano-Anderson in the rotation of late, so he isn’t even guaranteed to see playing time once Green is back up to full speed. As for Green, head coach Steve Kerr disclosed that he will play no more than 20 minutes in tonight’s contest as the team aims to ease him back into game action.

Jamal Murray

Denver Nuggets
1/02/21, 12:29 AM ET

Jamal Murray (elbow) and JaMychal Green (calf) available to play Friday

As expected, Murray has been upgraded from probable and will be available to play in Friday’s matchup against the Phoenix Suns after missing one game due to a right elbow contusion, while Green will make his season and Nuggets’ debut following his original questionable designation on the injury report. Contact tracing has landed Michael Porter Jr. in the NBA’s health and safety protocols, so the presence of Green should help absorb a sizable portion of Porter’s vacated minutes, especially if Isaiah Hartenstein remains in the rotation as the primary backup center. Porter’s absence, which may be as many as four games, should allow Will Barton to start at the small forward position on top of his usual second-unit role, catapulting him into cash game discussion at a generally week small forward position across the daily fantasy industry this evening.

Grayson Allen

Charlotte Hornets
1/01/21, 9:23 PM ET

Grayson Allen (ankle) officially ruled out Friday

As expected, Allen has been downgraded from doubtful and won’t play in Friday’s matchup against the Charlotte Hornets due to a sprained left ankle. Allen was reportedly going to try and test his injured ankle in pregame warmups, but he was always considered a longshot to receive clearance from the Grizzlies’ medical staff. His absence will allow Brandon Clarke to enter the starting lineup at power forward, bumping Kyle Anderson and Dillon Brooks each up a position, respectively. Since Allen was expected to take on some of the playmaking responsibilities with Ja Morant and De’Anthony Melton both sidelined, Anderson may take on more of a point forward role when Tyus Jones is off the court and makes him an intriguing option in tournament formats across the daily fantasy industry this evening.

Jimmy Butler

Golden State Warriors
1/01/21, 9:59 PM ET

Jimmy Butler (ankle) will start Friday

As expected, Butler has been upgraded from probable and will start in Friday’s matchup against the Dallas Mavericks after missing the previous two games due to a sprained right ankle. There haven’t been any specific reports of a potential minute restriction for Butler, but Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra has reiterated over the last month that the team is going to be mindful of playing time for their veteran players in the early going coming off of the shortened offseason. So, it’s certainly possible Butler is allotted his usual amount of minutes in tonight’s contest, but there’s also the possibility he’s eased back into action, especially if Miami has the game relatively in-hand at any point in the second half.

Killian Hayes

Sacramento Kings
1/01/21, 7:24 PM ET

Killian Hayes (ankle) and Jahlil Okafor (ankle) officially active Friday

As expected, Hayes has been upgraded from questionable and is now listed as active on the Pistons’ injury report for Friday’s matchup against the Boston Celtics despite dealing with a sprained right ankle, while Okafor is also active following his recent two-game absence with a sprained right ankle as well. Okafor had been serving as the primary backup center to Mason Plumlee prior to his injury, but after rookie Isaiah Stewart put together a couple of solid outings, he may need to earn that role back and could see less playing time, as a result, this evening.

LaMarcus Aldridge

Brooklyn Nets
1/01/21, 6:48 PM ET

LaMarcus Aldridge (knee) ruled out Friday

Aldridge has officially been downgraded from questionable and won’t play in Friday’s matchup against the Los Angeles Lakers due to a sore left knee that has now forced him to miss two consecutive games. Aldridge had started at center in all three games prior to his injury this season, so Jakob Poeltl appears to be the overwhelming favorite to remain in the starting lineup, and he has relatively serviceable for fantasy purposes last time out despite dealing with a bit of foul trouble. With Aldridge off the court over the last two seasons, players like DeMar DeRozan and Rudy Gay have benefitted the most, as they each see at least a +1.8% increase in usage rate and average a minimum of +0.08 more fantasy points over this sample.

Dario Saric

Detroit Pistons
1/01/21, 5:17 PM ET

Dario Saric (quad) ruled out Friday

Saric was included on the Suns’ initial injury report, and he’ll be held out of Friday’s matchup against the Denver Nuggets as the team attempts to manage a quad injury that kept him sidelined earlier in the season on the second night of a back-to-back set. Saric has logged 14 and 18 minutes in his two games serving primarily as the backup center behind DeAndre Ayton, and with Saric, Jalen Smith, and Abdel Nader all unavailable, there’s a decent possibility Ayton cracks the 30-minute mark for the first time this year. If that’s the case, the backup center minutes should be absorbed by some combination of Frank Kaminsky and Damian Jones this evening.

Maxi Kleber

Los Angeles Lakers
1/01/21, 4:30 PM ET

Maxi Kleber (ankle) upgraded to probable Friday

Kleber has been upgraded from questionable and is now listed as probable on the Mavericks’ injury report for Friday’s matchup against the Miami Heat due to a sprained left ankle. Kleber still figures to be an integral member of head coach Rick Carlisle’s second unit for as long as Kristaps Porzingis remains sidelined as he recovers from right knee surgery, but Kleber, along with many of the Mavericks starters has had their playing time capped by three consecutive blowouts. This means that Kleber may be in line for more than the 19.3 minutes he’s averaged over this span in tonight’s contest,

Michael Porter Jr.

Brooklyn Nets
1/01/21, 3:07 PM ET

Michael Porter Jr. (COVID protocols) ruled out Friday, likely to miss multiple games

Porter Jr. is a late addition to the Nuggets’ injury report and won’t be available to play in Friday’s matchup against the Phoenix Suns due to contact tracing that has landed him in the NBA’s health and safety protocols. However, head coach Mike Malone does expect JaMychal Green to be active and make his Nuggets’ debut despite currently being listed as questionable, so his presence should help absorb a sizable portion of Porter’s vacated minutes, especially if Isaiah Hartenstein remains in the rotation as the primary backup center. Porter’s absence, which may be as many as four games, should allow Will Barton to start at the small forward position on top of his usual second-unit role, catapulting him into cash game discussion at a generally week small forward position across the daily fantasy industry.

Pascal Siakam

Indiana Pacers
1/01/21, 1:04 AM ET

Pascal Siakam (disciplinary) won't be available to play Thursday

Siakam is active, but he reportedly won’t be available to play in Thursday’s matchup against the New York Knicks as a disciplinary consequence for leaving the bench early after fouling out in Tuesday’s loss. In his absence, head coach Nick Nurse will turn to Norman Powell to start alongside OG Anunoby at the small forward position, and he immediately becomes one of the best value options on the entire main slate given his projected increase in playing time. Stanley Johnson has also begun to carve out a role in the second unit of late, so he may benefit from some extra run with the second unit, especially if Chris Boucher continues to only serve as the backup to Aron Baynes at the center spot.
