High Floor Value Option

It’s been an up and down season for Taurean Prince, but he’s really cheap across the industry and he’s projected to play 30-35 minutes tonight. I like him a little more on DraftKings than FanDuel, but I think he’s worth a look on both sites at this price. In three matchups against Golden State last season, Prince went for 28, 37, and 34 fantasy points. Atlanta has a 112.8 implied team total, which is 5.3 points higher than their season average this season.

Boom/Bust Type Of Play

With Draymond Green and Damian Jones already ruled out for tonight’s game, we’re likely to see extra minutes for Looney, Bell, and Jerebko. With Green out, Jerebko has been playing around 20-22 minutes per night. I don’t expect him to see more than 25 minutes, but out of the three, I think he has the most upside in a matchup like this. The Warriors have the highest implied team total on the slate, and it’s 6.8 points higher than their season average, which is the biggest bump on the slate. This is also projected to be the biggest pace bump on the slate.

E'Twaun Moore (leg) probable Monday

Moore has officially been listed as probable for Monday’s matchup against the Los Angeles Clippers due to a left tibial contusion that already forced him to miss Sunday’s win. In his absence, Wesley Johnson was inserted into the starting lineup at small forward, but he was invisible from a fantasy perspective in just under 15 minutes of action. Instead, it was Solomon Hill and Darius Miller that each logged at least 23 minutes off the bench at the forward positions and will see their playing time regress back to normal levels with Moore on track to make his return to the starting lineup this evening. Moore is essentially a nightly tournament punt option in this fast-paced Pelicans offense, as he possesses the ability to get hot from the field at any time and return significant value for his usually affordable price tag.

Otto Porter (toe) upgraded to questionable Monday

Porter was originally listed as out on the Wizards’ injury report, but he is now questionable for Monday’s matchup against the New York Knicks due to a left big toe contusion, while Jeff Green remains probable with lower back spasms that forced him to miss Saturday’s win. Tomas Satoransky started ahead of Kelly Oubre at small forward in that contest and logged 26 minutes in an uninspiring fantasy performance. Head coach Scott Brooks will likely continue utilizing this starting lineup for the near future, which will enable Oubre and Markieff Morris to continue leading the second unit. Morris has logged at least 28 minutes off the bench in three of the last four games, and he’s been seeing the majority of his playing time behind nominal starter Thomas Bryant at center.

Kyle Lowry (back) will play Monday

Lowry has officially been upgraded from questionable and will play in Monday’s matchup against the Denver Nuggets after missing one game due to a sore back. Fred VanVleet drew the start at point guard in Saturday’s win and was effective from a fantasy standpoint in 33 minutes of action, but he’ll back to the bench to resume his normal reserve role with head coach Nick Nurse declaring Lowry as “good to go” when asked if he’d be limited in any way by his back injury. Kawhi Leonard logged 37 minutes and led the team by a wide margin with a 37.1% usage rate in the previous contest, but he and the rest of the Raptors are likely better reserved for tournaments on tonight’s slate, as the Nuggets rank third in defensive rating and have played at the fourth-slowest pace to this point in the season.

Bump In Minutes Due To Injuries

With Trey Burke out tonight, Emmanuel Mudiay should get some extra run against the Wizards. Mudiay has been averaging around 21-24 minutes a night and played 36 minutes against the Bucks when Burke left with an injury. This game has one of the highest totals on this slate, meaning it presents a lot of really good value plays. The Knicks have a 113.3 implied team total, which is 5.5 points higher than their season average. They also receive the third-highest pace bump on this slate, and Washington ranks 22nd in defensive efficiency against point guards.

Evan Turner (Achilles) officially out Sunday

Turner has officially been downgraded from questionable and won’t play in Sunday’s matchup against the Dallas Mavericks due to left Achilles tendon inflammation that forced him to put an end to his pregame routine early. Turner has played at least 26 minutes in four of the Trail Blazers last five games while serving as the primary playmaker in the second unit, so his absence could be a boon to C.J. McCollum’s projected fantasy value as head coach Terry Stotts may be forced to stagger the minutes of McCollum and Damian Lillard more often, resulting in more playing time for McCollum as the point guard in the second unit. Maurice Harkless continues to start at small forward but hasn’t played more than 17 minutes in any game since his return from injury, so if he remains limited, Seth Curry and Nik Stauskas could be in line for some additional playing time if Jake Layman doesn’t reenter the rotation.

Dennis Smith Jr. (wrist) and Dwight Powell (knee) listed as available Sunday

Luka Doncic has officially been downgraded from questionable and won’t play in Sunday’s matchup against the Los Angeles Clippers due to a strained right hip, while Maxi Kleber will remain sidelined for a second consecutive game with a sore right knee despite originally being listed as questionable. Additionally, Dennis Smith Jr. and Dwight Powell are listed as available to play as both have played through injury designations in each of the last three games. Dorian Finney-Smith will likely draw the start alongside Harrison Barnes in the frontcourt, and he’s logged at least 27 minutes in five of the Mavericks last six games in both reserve and starting roles. In his limited minutes with Doncic off the court, Barnes has thrived from a fantasy perspective, as he owns a 33.7% usage rate (+8.2%) and is averaging 1.14 DraftKings and 1.10 FanDuel points per minute in this scenario.

Marc Gasol (knee) and Wayne Selden (knee) available to play Sunday

Gasol has officially been upgraded from questionable and will be available to play Sunday’s matchup against the Philadelphia 76ers despite dealing with a sore right knee, while Selden has also been cleared and is available to play off the bench. Gasol did log 42 minutes in the Grizzlies double-overtime victory on Friday night, but he’ll be needed to guard Joel Embiid on the defensive end of the floor, so he’s unlikely to have his playing time limited by the coaching staff unless he reaggravates the injury during the game. As for Selden, he’s averaged just 14.2 minutes over the Grizzlies last six games, so he appears poised to resume that nominal role in the wing rotation with Memphis at full strength outside of Chandler Parsons and Dillon Brooks and remains out of consideration for daily fantasy formats.

Wilson Chandler (quad) out Sunday

Chandler has officially been downgraded from questionable and won’t play in Sunday’s matchup against the Memphis Grizzlies due to a left quad contusion, while Demetrius Jackson remains listed as questionable with a toe injury. Head coach Brett Brown disclosed to reporters at his pregame media availability that he expects Chandler to be ready to go for the highly-anticipated matchup with the Toronto Raptors on Wednesday night. Brown didn’t confirm who would start at power forward in Chandler’s place, but it sounds as if Mike Muscala will get the starting nod and expect Ben Simmons to see a lot more time at power forward on defense when the Sixers opt to use smaller lineup combinations. Chandler has averaged 29.1 minutes over his last six starts, so there will certainly be plenty of minutes available in the rotation outside of Muscala, and a majority of those minutes should be absorbed mostly by Landry Shamet, Amir Johnson, and T.J. McConnell in the second unit.

Willy Hernangomez will start in place of Cody Zeller (ribs) on Sunday

Zeller was officially ruled out and won’t play in Sunday’s matchup against the New Orleans Pelicans due to sore ribs he aggravated during the first half of Friday’s loss. Frank Kaminsky replaced him to begin the second half of that contest, but head coach James Borrego declined to confirm during his pregame media availability who would start in Zeller’s place and mentioned Kaminsky, Bismack Biyombo, and Willy Hernangomez all as possible options. Kaminsky has served as the primary backup center in the Hornets last six games but is only averaging 15.4 minutes over that same span, so Borrego has opted to keep him in that same role and will start Willy Hernangomez at center instead. Hernangomez is certainly worth a look in tournaments at his price, but he’s been a DNP-CD in five of the previous six games, so his minute floor could be extremely volatile.

Frank Jackson (ankle) available to play Sunday

Jackson has officially been upgraded from questionable and will be available to play in Sunday’s matchup against the Charlotte Hornets after missing two consecutive games due to a sprained right ankle, while E’Twaun Moore was ruled out in advance of tonight’s contest with a left tibial contusion he sustained during Friday’s loss. Head coach Alvin Gentry has already confirmed that Wesley Johnson will start at small forward despite averaging just 11.6 minutes over the Pelicans last four games, which leaves the projectivity of his minute floor in a bit of doubt. Jrue Holiday sees a substantial boost in usage without Moore and Elfrid Payton on the court, as he leads the team with a 31.5% usage rate and is averaging 1.14 DraftKings and 1.11 FanDuel points per minute in this scenario.

Spend Up to be Contrarian

Marc Gasol is priced about as high as I’ve seen him in the industry, but it’s very fair as he has been stellar in every facet of the game thus far. With the other guys around him I find it very unlikely that many will want to spend this price on him today and I think that is a mistake. He has been a solid contributor in all categories and is a focal point of this offense. His usage is sitting right around 25% and is averaging 1.23 fpts per minute. I think this is an upside spot today against a Philadelphia team that has not been playing good defense, and i’m expecting big things from Gasol. So should you…
