Elite Per-Minute Producer
JaVale McGee isn’t going to play big minutes anytime soon, but he’s earned a role in this series. Even if Andre Igudoala is back in the lineup, I expect McGee to play minutes in the teens off the bench. He played six minutes and scored eight fantasy points in Game 1 and played 17 minutes and scored 17 fantasy points in Game 2. He should come at low ownership if Iguodala plays and ends up starting.
Will Get a Chance to Play
Coach Ty Lue said Hood would get the chance to play in Game 3. That could be six minutes or 26 minutes, but if Hood is making shots it’s hard to see how he doesn’t play minutes. Ownership will be something to watch here, but for $1K on DraftKings it’s hard to imagine not having a bunch of Hood in GPPs tonight.
Difficult Decision on Golden State
LeBron James is a lock and load play for me tonight, which basically means I can’t afford to play two of the Warriors’ superstars. It’s a difficult decision, but I’m giving a slight edge to Stephen Curry over Kevin Durant. In the first two games of the series, Curry has averaged 42 minutes and 51 fantasy points per contest. The key selling point is that Curry is $300 cheaper than Durant on DraftKings and $1,000 cheaper on FanDuel.
Role Players Perform Better at Home
Kyle Korver had 2 games to forget in the Bay Area but back in Cleveland look for Cleveland to try and get Korver going early, at this salary it only takes a few 3’s to get him into GPP winning contention and he should come at way lower ownership than J.R. Smith.
Fade at Your Own Risk
At this point, how on earth do we fade LeBron James? He is the only chance the Cavaliers have to avoid a sweep against the Warriors. He’s going to play minutes in the mid-40s tonight and he’s coming off of two herculean performances, scoring 74 fantasy points in Game 1 and 60 fantasy points in Game 2. He’s the preferred “MVP” target on FanDuel and you can either play him as the “Captain” on DraftKings or take the cheaper route and use him in a utility spot.
Andre Iguodala, who practiced yesterday and today, will be a game-time decision. Kerr said there’s “a good chance” Iguodala will play Game 3
Andre Iguodala, who practiced yesterday and today, will be a game-time decision. Kerr said there’s “a good chance” Iguodala will play Game 3, and with that sentiment it seems unlikely that the Dubs would limit Iguodala in terms of court time given where we are in the season. Iguodala averaged a shade under 30 minutes per game in last year’s Finals meeting between these teams, and he remains Golden State’s best shot at slowing LeBron. While James has dominated the Warriors at times, his supporting cast has yet to pick up enough to slack to get Cleveland over the hump. Expect some combination of Nick Young, Kevon Looney, Jordan Bell, JaVale McGee and David West to have their minutes dwindle compared to Games 1 and 2.
Take The Cheap Price Tag Everywhere Despite The Risk
Look, I have no idea what we can expect out of Hood tonight. But Ty Lue said he is getting his shot, so I think we have to lock button Hood because of how cheap he is. The situation is extremely volatile, so you have to know it could blow up in your face. But what he allows you to do with the rest of your roster cannot be overstated. I think you take the risk with Hood tonight and fill out a bunch of different combinations around he and LeBron.
The Stud To Pay For On A One-Game Slate
If the Cavs are to make this a series, they absolutely have to get Game 3. And if the Cavs need anything done, it all goes through LeBron. I would throw projected ownership out the window tonight and just lock button LeBron. I expect a vintage performance out of him tonight as he tries to salvage the series for Cleveland.
A Nice Upside Option at an Affordable Cost
Green always carries plenty of upside with his potential to contribute across all areas of the stat sheet, and I think you could even consider him as your Captain play on DraftKings. It’s possible to fit him into lineups alongside LeBron James, too, which adds to the appeal. Keep Green on your radar as a nice upside play that doesn’t break the salary bank.
Getting His Shot at a Dirt Cheap Price?
We have no idea how many minutes he will get, other than Tyronn Lue saying that Hood will get a chance to play. I would expect around 24 minutes here, The price tag is super cheap, and Hood is capable of putting up a solid point per minute type of performance. It’s very risky, but it’s worth a shot to differentiate on a one game slate. He’s also dirt cheap, which helps to much more easily fit James and/or some of the Golden State stars into your lineups.
The King Shall Rise
If the Cavs want to make this anything other than a four game series, they need the King to carry them for a game. This often happens during playoff games at home, so I’ll take a shot on the value options and get James into some lineups for Game 3. If this game stays competitive for the entirety of the contest, my bold call is that James puts up 90 fantasy points to keep his team afloat.
Andre Iguodala listed as questionable for Wednesday's Game 3; Cavs expected to give Rodney Hood an opportunity off the bench
Iguodala is tentatively listed as questionable – we should know more about his status tomorrow. If he’s able to go, it’s likely that a combination of Nick Young, Kevon Looney, Jordan Bell, JaVale McGee and David West are all candidates to see their roles dwindle, as Iguodala would seemingly be in line for 28-34 minutes to help slow LeBron. As for Hood, Ty Lue has stated that they intend to give him some added opportunity off the bench, making him a suitable near-minimum priced punt in Showdown formats.

The smooth talking Serbian has earned himself a role under the brightest lights, joining the esteemed Keanu Reeves in his element while also working alongside Halle Berry in a complementary role. Is Boban perfect for LA or is LA perfect for Boban? Regardless, his size 20 shoes (confirmed via Wikipedia) and hands the size of those giant foam fingers could cause wardrobe issues on set, but the potential ceiling here is simply too high to ignore. As for Iguodala, if he’s able to get back in action on Wednesday, we could see the Warriors roll out a different starting five or simply see guys like Nick Young, Kevon Looney, Jordan Bell and Shaun Livingston see less action off the bench. As long as the knee isn’t acting up, it’s likely Iguodala will be used to help slow LeBron – he averaged 28.2 minutes per game in last season’s Finals, and finished with 38 minutes in the series-clinching game.
Other tagged players: Andre IguodalaJaVale McGee will start ahead of Kevon Looney on Sunday
In a somewhat predictable move, head coach Steve Kerr has opted to start JaVale McGee at center for Sunday’s Game 2 matchup with the Cleveland Cavaliers, which will send Kevon Looney back to the bench to resume a likely diminished reserve role after logging 24 minutes in the Game 1 overtime win on Thursday evening. Kerr remains optimistic that Andre Iguodala will suit up at some point in this series, so McGee’s stint in the Golden State Warriors starting five may not be a lengthy one, but the news of Iguodala’s unavailability was ultimately expected while the status of Klay Thompson was always more up in the air. However, Thompson went through pregame warmups and has officially been cleared to play without a minute restriction, slotting in at his normal starting shooting guard position alongside Stephen Curry in the Warriors backcourt.
As reported by: Mark Medina via TwitterKlay Thompson (leg) and Patrick McCaw (back) available to play Sunday
Thompson has officially been cleared to play in Sunday’s Game 2 matchup with the Cleveland Cavaliers after previously being considered a game-time decision with a left lateral leg contusion and sprained ankle, while Patrick McCaw is also available off the bench but remains a longshot to see substantial playing time even with Andre Iguodala missing his sixth straight game with a left lateral leg contusion as well. Kerr remains optimistic that Iguodala will suit up at some point in this series, but the news of his unavailability for Game 2 was ultimately expected. As for Thompson, he will slot into his normal shooting guard position in the starting lineup and won’t be subject to a minute restriction, so workload won’t be a concern his projected fantasy value this evening. In the absence of Iguodala, one of Kevon Looney or JaVale McGee should draw the start at center alongside Draymond Green in the frontcourt, and Looney likely remains the leading candidate after playing much better in the second half of Game 1 following an abysmal first half that led to McGee replacing him at center to begin the third quarter.
