The ROY Is Still Too Cheap On DK
Ben Simmons is still under $10,000 on DK, which makes him a priority on this small two-game slate. The same can be said for FD and FantasyDraft. We don’t have too many high end options to choose from, and the savings you get from him compared to a guy like Kevin Durant go a long way. With everything running through Simmons with Joel Embiid still out for Game 2, he is my favorite place to spend on the slate.
Ryan Anderson ruled out Sunday
The Rockets will be without Ryan Anderson for Game 1 versus Minnesota, as he’s still recovering from an ankle injury. With Anderson not playing, P.J. Tucker and Gerald Green will see some extra minutes.
As reported by: Jonathan Feigen via twitterCorey Brewer will start Sunday, Alex Abrines available to play
Corey Brewer will start for the Thunder on Sunday versus the Jazz, after being listed questionable. He hurt his knee on Wednesday, and was unable to return to the game. As long as Brewer is somewhat close to 100 %, he should see anywhere from 25-30 minutes of action today. Alex Abrines is now available to play today, after being listed out yesterday. This won’t have much DFS impact.
As reported by: Royce Young via twitterKyle Korver will have a minutes limit Sunday, Rodney Hood will start
Kyle Korver will be on a minutes limit for Cleveland’s game 1 of the playoffs against the Pacers. Korver is dealing with a foot injury, he’s an easy DFS fade. Hood will start for the Cavs on Sunday, after he missed the last two regular season games with an injury. He’s only in play for GPPs today.
As reported by: Dave McMenamin via twitterMinutes To Rise Coming Off Injury
Brogdon was limited after returning from a knee injury, playing 14 and 18 minutes in his final two games of the regular season. That said, he said himself he was optimistic that the days of the minutes restriction are almost over: “I’ll have minute restrictions this next game, the first game of the playoffs, but I’m going to be able to play a high number of minutes,” Brogdon said. I figure this puts him in the mid-20s for minutes, which makes him a great value at his current price tag.
High Usage Guy That's Underpriced
Marcus Morris was a player we used all the time after the injuries to Kyrie Irving and Marcus Smart, yet for the playoffs, his price has come down. Why? Morris has the highest usage of any Celtics starter at 26.9%. On which other playoff team can you get the highest usage starter who will play 32-25 minutes for under $9K? Under $8K? $7K? If you go look at all the other teams, their highest usage players are all extremely priced up, and we get Morris for significantly less. He should be a strong consideration for your GPP teams!
Big Battle Inside Today, Part 2
For as much success as Towns has had against Capela, Capela has been no slouch either. Capela has put up 30+ fantasy points in each meeting dating back to February 2017 and in the last two meetings has posted 40+ fantasy points. With KAT likely on the floor 40+ minutes I expect Capela to get into the low 30s for minutes, which is a nice boost from his regular season total, making him an even better GPP play.
Big Battle Inside Today
Karl-Anthony Towns loves playing Clint Capela and Houston! In six of the last eight meetings against the Rockets, Towns has put up 59.5 or more fantasy points. The two games he didn’t were games that got out of hand, yet he still surpassed the 40 fantasy point threshold in both. We know Tom Thibodeau loves to play starters huge minutes in the playoffs (even Taj Gibson had fun with it on Instagram), so with extra minutes, KAT could end up as the highest scoring player at a fraction of the price of the other stud players.
Play the Man
LeBron came out and said that his goal is to always take over in the postseason. Now is his time to take over. A lot of the star players have relatively difficult matchups today. James Harden will have to deal with a now-healthy Jimmy Butler. Russell Westbrook faces the Jazz. I’ll fire up James as my clear-cut top play on the slate, as he should be able to dominate the Pacers here.
Attacking a Reasonable Price Tag
I expect the two stars for the Thunder to take over in the postseason, so that means Westbrook and George should put up some huge lines. This isn’t a great matchup against a slow-paced, solid defensive squad in the Jazz, but the price tag is simply too cheap for George. He’s over $3,000 cheaper than his teammate Westbrook, and George should be looking at 36-40 minutes if the game stays close. Don’t sleep on him as a very strong mid-range play despite the matchup.
Nearing Full Health and Ready to Go
It doesn’t really get a lot of attention nation-wide, but Rubio was very good in the second half of the season when he was healthy. Injuries were a problem, though, and he didn’t play much in the final games of the regular season. The good news is that has depressed his price tag as we head into the playoffs, so we now get him at a bit of a discount in a fun matchup against Westbrook and company. Assuming we don’t get news of any minutes restrictions, Rubio is an elite point per dollar option today.
Not Sexy, But Able to Fill a Salary-Saving Spot
Nobody opens up a DFS NBA slate and looks forward to playing Taj Gibson as a core play. I felt a little guilty tagging it. However, we know that the Wolves will run a short rotation, and Gibson is going to play 30+ minutes. His presence will be needed in this series if the Wolves want to give Houston a competitive series, and this should be the highest scoring game of the day. Gibson is a safe bet for 24-28 fantasy points, and that’s enough to make him one of the best salary savers out there.
High Usage Player In A Great Matchup
The Bucks are a team that we have targeted all season long with opposing big men and that will be no different in the playoffs. Al Horford sees a nice usage bump with Kyrie Irving out and is in a great spot against the Milwaukee Bucks. He is also only $6000 on DraftKings and will be a play I even target on FanDuel at $7400. Horford will be an easy plug and play in my DraftKings cash game lineups.
Top Spend Up Option On The Slate
With stars like Westbrook, Harden and Giannis on today’s slate, you can argue there are a lot of routes to go. For me it’s simple, pay up for LeBron James. LeBron James does it all and gets to go against a Pacers team that has no one that can stop him. In his four games against the Pacers this year LeBron is averaging 61.6 DraftKings points per game and you better believe I won’t be missing out on him today.
Value Play Starting
Jeff Green has been important to the Cavs this season and should be a great source of value against the Pacers. Green is starting and too cheap around the industry. His price is only $4500 on DraftKings and $4600 on FanDuel, making him one of my favorite value plays to target. On a slate with top options to pay for Jeff Green has become a nice source of value for my lineups.
