Taj Gibson will play and start for Bulls tonight

Gibson missed Chicago’s last game but will play tonight when they take on the Thunder. He hasn’t topped 30 minutes in his last five outings and while he is a safe option to produce 20 or so fantasy points his upside is capped making him a player to avoid in GPP’s.

Rodney Stuckey hopes to play tonight for Indiana; will be limited if he does

Stuckey hasn’t played since right after Christmas but told local media that he hopes to play tonight when Indiana faces the Orlando Magic. He is considered questionable along with Kevin Seraphin but neither are viable DFS options as their minutes will be limited if they do play. Stuckey’s return would be a hit to the value of C.J. Miles who could be an intriguing low-owned value play tonight after putting up a massive dud the other night.

Channing Frye will start for Cleveland tonight

With Kevin Love out, Frye will get the start at the four (PF) for the Cavaliers tonight against the Timberwolves. It’s a better spot for Frye than he had the other night as Cleveland will need more size against the likes of Gorgui Dieng and Karl Anthony-Towns so he should have an increased role and more playing time as a result. He’s in play as a cheap value option across the industry.

Status Update: Deron Williams OUT tonight for Mavericks

Updating our previous alert, Mavericks Head Coach Rick Carlisle has told local media that Williams is indeed out tonight. Lock and load Yogi Ferrell as one of the top value options tonight despite a bump in his salary. He’s put up 60+ fantasy points over his last two games and priced at $4,900 on FanDuel and $4,000 on DraftKings, will be a popular option for DFS rosters tonight.

Deron Williams upgraded to questionable for Dallas tonight; J.J. Barea and Andrew Bogut remain OUT

J.J. Barea and Andrew Bogut remain out for the Mavericks – not unexpected as the two were anticipated to be out for their game against the 76ers tonight. Bogut’s absence doesn’t really create a significant upgrade for anyone in terms of DFS relevance although Dorian Finney-Smith and Dwight Powell should see more playing time as a result. The surprising news out of Dallas, however, is the status upgrade for Deron Williams who was listed as questionable on their injury report after it was presumed he would not play today. He’s missed the last three games for the team and Yogi Ferrell has stepped up and been a great value option at the point guard position. Ferrell would remain in play if Williams can’t go but immediately becomes irrelevant if DWill can play. It’s a situation we’ll keep a close eye on throughout the day and update whenever we receive news.

Williams has spent the past three games on the shelf, which has resulted in Yogi Ferrell moving into the starting five and Seth Curry flirting with minutes in the high-30s. The Mavs have also won two of their past three outings sans Williams, so there’s not much of a need to rush him back, particularly with a matchup against the 76ers. If he’s out again on Wednesday, Ferrell will be on the radar as a potential DFS punt play. Check back closer to tip-off for an official update.

Dante Cunningham questionable for Pelicans tonight

Cunningham injured his wrist last night, leaving the game and not returning. He’s listed as questionable for their game tonight – if he can’t go, Terrence Jones could get the start (he played 34 minutes off the bench last night with Cunningham out) and he’d certainly be in play as a DFS option if that were to happen (although not elite as he is when he starts when Anthony Davis is out).

Thabo Sefolosha a game-time decision for Hawks today

The Hawks wing will be a game-time decision for their game tonight. If he is unable to go, Tim Hardaway Jr. would get the start against the Miami Heat. Hardaway is a risky GPP play with some upside if he gets on a hot streak shooting the ball but in a game against a tough Miami team (6th in fantasy points allowed) there are better options in this 12 game slate. We’ll update you on Sefolosha’s status later today when we learn more.

Will Barton (ankle) and Emmanuel Mudiay (back) ruled out tonight; All other Nuggets are active, except Nikola Jokic (hip)

Will Barton and Emmanuel Mudiay will not play in tonight’s game against the Los Angeles Lakers after previously being listed as questionable on the Nuggets’ injury report due to their respective ailments. This will be the fifth consecutive game Mudiay will be forced to miss with lingering back tightness, and Jameer Nelson will draw the start at point guard once again in his place. Nelson, Gary Harris, and Danilo Gallinari become cash game staples with Barton, Mudiay, and Nikola Jokic all unavailable this evening. Meanwhile, Wilson Chandler is an intriguing tournament target, given his recent inconsistencies, as he owns a positive 6.6% usage rate differential (30.5%) with the aforementioned trio off the court this season. Feel confident in firing up multiple Nuggets your lineups Tuesday, as the Lakers rank 23rd or worse in DvP at every position.

Kristaps Porzingis ruled out for Tuesday due to illness; Willy Hernangomez to start

With Porzingis out, the Knicks main targets become even more appealing. Carmelo Anthony is now an across the board play as his usage typically skyrockets in these situations, and Willy Hernangomez becomes one of the top punt plays on the slate. He’s a slightly tougher sell on sites that only allow you to roster one center, but he possesses massive upside at his current price tag across the industry. In the last four games where Hernangomez has seen at least 20 minutes, he’s topped 30 FPs three times with his lowest output coming in at 23.8 FD points, giving him a solid floor even if he’s not going to pick up a massive minute total. This news doesn’t necessarily help Brandon Jennings a ton, but it certainly doesn’t hurt matters.

Nene to play off the bench after missing Sunday's game due to groin and shoulder soreness

Nene will be playing off the bench tonight for the Rockets. He missed their previous game due to shoulder and groin soreness and seems healed enough to go tonight. along with Nene, the Rockets have three big men available to play the center position along with Clint Capela and Montrezl Harrell. Capela has been named the starter and should see about 24 minutes tonight. The Rockets have been limiting his minutes since he returned from injury so we can expect Harrell to also see about 18 minutes tonight. All three players are considered risky tournament options and there are better plays at the position that offer more security tonight.

Jonathon Simmons (sprained wrist) playing vs OKC tonight

Simmons will play in tonight’s game against the Oklahoma City Thunder after previously being listed as questionable on the Spurs’ injury report with a sprained right wrist that had forced him to miss three consecutive games. With Simmons now available to play off the bench, Kyle Anderson and Davis Bertans should see their playing time dwindle with the second unit. Bertans drew the start on Sunday and only saw 17 minutes of action, meaning he and the other Spurs’ forward reserves remain irrelevant in daily fantasy barring an injury to one of the starting five.

Clint Capela confirmed in the starting lineup for tonight

Capela will return to the starting lineup for Houston, sending Montrezl Harrell back to the bench. Capela has averaged well over a fantasy point per minute over his last six games while playing close to 20 minutes per game and should see a bump in his production with the increased playing time that starting should provide. He faces off against DeMarcus Cousins and the Kings tonight so there is a concern about foul trouble but he makes for a low-owned with upside option if you’re looking to save a bit at the center position.

Tyreke Evans (rest) ruled out for tonight

Evans will be rested and won’t play in tonight’s game against the Toronto Raptors. The Pelicans are on the front end of a back-to-back set and it has been a regular practice for the team to sit Evans in one of the games, as he has yet to play two consecutive days this season. Tim Frazier may enter the rotation with Evans unavailable, but the primary beneficiaries will be Jrue Holiday and Anthony Davis, as they should see additional usage when on the court. Holiday, in particular, has a nice minute floor sans Evans and has played north of 38 minutes in back-to-back games.

DeMar DeRozan (sore right ankle) ruled out for the next 2 games

DeRozan will not play in tonight’s game against the New Orleans Pelicans after experiencing swelling in his injured ankle. The Raptors have opted to take the precautionary with DeRozan and have also ruled him out for Wednesday’s contest. Norman Powell will almost assuredly be inserted into the starting lineup at shooting guard once again, which immediately vaults him into elite value play status, as he averaged just over 34 minutes per game in the three games DeRozan was sidelined last week with the same ankle issue. Other than Powell, the primary player to target on Toronto is Kyle Lowry, as he sees a positive 3.3% usage rate differential with DeRozan off the court this season and will need to shoulder the offensive load for this Raptors squad this evening.

Ivica Zubac, Marvin Williams highlight tonight's value options in the frontcourt

We touched on some of the value at the PG/SG/SF spots earlier, so let’s look at what’s available in the front-court to help you fit in guys like James Harden, John Wall or Russell Westbrook. At PF, Marvin Williams remains intriguing thanks to a mixture of Portland’s porous defense and Cody Zeller’s absence. While Zeller’s absence furthers the upside of Spencer Hawes in a much greater capacity, it still slightly helps to secure Williams’ minutes against a Portland team that utilizes a stretch four. Ryan Anderson sits at $5,000 on both major sites and provides extremely solid GPP value at that price tag. He’s played at least 35 minutes in each of the Rockets past three games and is shooting 50% over his past five games. At center, we’ll want to look at Ivica Zubac and Spencer Hawes. Zubac is the sexier play given that he’s still relatively unknown and has put up some monstrous numbers in limited minutes this season. In the three games in which he’s seen at least 26 minutes, Zubac has posted at least 29 FPs. Hawes figures to see around 25 minutes of court time against a Portland team that struggles to defend and rebound, making him a suitable tournament target. Zubac is priced about $1K cheaper on both major sites which makes him the preferred cash game target between the two. It’s also worth noting that Tarik Black saw 30 minutes of playing time with Julius Randle out against the Jazz, but it’s currently unclear who will start tonight. If Black does get the nod, he’s a potential GPP punt, but he doesn’t possess the same per minute upside as either Zubac or Hawes.
