Best NBA Player Prop Bets for Wednesday, January 18

What kind of performances can we expect on Wednesday from Jarrett Allen, C.J. McCollum, and Jalen Brunson? Follow along as our NBA betting expert, Nick Galaida, breaks down his three favorite NBA prop bets for January 18 on the hardwood.
Following a small four-game slate on Tuesday, the NBA returns to action on Wednesday with 18 teams in action. As of this writing, Bradley Beal, Gordon Hayward, Kevin Porter Jr., Donovan Mitchell, Tyrese Haliburton, Kyle Lowry, Brandon Ingram, Zion Williamson, Lauri Markkanen, Anthony Edwards, Rudy Gobert, and LeBron James are each listed as questionable or doubtful ahead of tip-off this evening – creating plenty of chaos in the player prop market, from which bettors can profit.
We told you that we would get our player props article back on track last night and we did! Yesterday, we hit both of our recommendations, with our Kyrie Irving ticket getting voided due to him being scratched shortly before tip-off. Across the last 19 days, we are a profitable 30-25-2. We also went 2-1 in premium plays for ScoresAndOdds. Tonight, we will look to sustain our good fortune – below are three spots worth considering for your January 18 card!

NBA Player Props, January 18, 2023
- Jarrett Allen 15+ points
- C.J. McCollum o3.5 rebounds
- Jalen Brunson o3.5 rebounds
Jarrett Allen 15+ points (-135), FanDuel
Per Chris Fedor of Cleveland.com, Donovan Mitchell missed practice yesterday and is unlikely to play on Wednesday against the Memphis Grizzlies. Per CourtIQ, Jarrett Allen (+7.5%) sees the largest increase in usage of any notable player on the Cleveland Cavaliers roster when Mitchell is not on the floor. Per 36 minutes of action with Mitchell on the sidelines, Allen is averaging 22.7 points this season. In four games this year with Mitchell out, Allen has scored 23 points, nine points, 21 points, and nine points. In his most recent miss, Allen was 4 for 11 from the field, indicating that efficiency rather than lack of volume led to a poor output. Tonight, he gets a matchup against a Memphis defense that ranks 23rd in opponent field goal attempts in the restricted area this season. Expect Allen to have high volume once again, with inefficiency against a tough Grizzlies frontcourt being the main risk here.
C.J. McCollum o3.5 rebounds (-150), DraftKings
According to props.cash, C.J. McCollum has eclipsed this number seven of his last nine games when both Brandon Ingram and Zion Williamson are in street clothes. The market is likely giving bettors a discount in this spot for two reasons – 1) McCollum had zero rebounds on Monday in a loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers; 2) the Miami Heat are allowing the second-fewest rebound per game across the last month of action. Yet, the Heat have not been equally prohibitive against all positions when it comes to rebounds. In the last week, Josh Giddey tallied 15 rebounds, Luguentz Dort had eight rebounds, Jrue Holiday had six rebounds, Pat Connaughton had eight rebounds, and Trae Young eclipsed his market number with three rebounds. McCollum is averaging 4.6 rebounds per game on the season and 6.2 rebound chances per game since Williamson last played earlier this month. Take this line early in the day before the juice becomes unplayable.
Jalen Brunson o3.5 rebounds (-138), FanDuel
Since the calendar flipped to 2023, Jalen Brunson has eclipsed this number in seven of eight games played, with his lone miss being a three-rebound performance against the Indiana Pacers. In that span, Brunson is averaging 5.8 rebounds on 11.3 rebound chances per game. Tonight, he gets a favorable matchup against a Washington Wizards team that has been allowing an abundance of rebounds to opposing guards. Since January 9, 12 of 16 guards who have had a rebound prop released in a game against the Wizards have hit the over, per props.cash. It would not be surprising if the juice on this line became unplayable by the late afternoon.
