Fanball NFL Auction: Week 6 - Wednesday, October 10th

Hey everyone, welcome to the Fanball NFL Auction breakdown. If you haven’t played on this site before, it’s a product unlike anything you’ve ever seen before in DFS. They will be offering an Auction-style format drafting with four players on the board at all times, meaning you have to be on your toes and be aware of what is going on, because split-second mistakes can be costly.

Each team must draft 1 QB, 2 WR, 2 RB, and 1 TE. No player can be left on the board at the end of the draft, so if you are the last player not to draft a TE, then when the last TE goes on the board you will auto-draft them for $1.

RG Exclusive Offer: Deposit $20 on Fanball and get a $20 bonus!

There are four players up for auction at all times, so you need to be able to adlib on the fly if someone goes drastically over or under what you are projecting to pay for them.

Before we get into the breakdowns for each position along with the suggested price points for each player, make sure to check out the replay of our first ever Fanball auction show below.

Wednesday, October 10th

Quarterback

Patrick Mahomes – $19
Kirk Cousins – $11
Jared Goff – $9
Andrew Luck – $2
Baker Mayfield – $1
Derek Carr – $1

As you can see, you should make Mahomes, Goff, or Cousins a priority here at the QB position. They have a decent edge over the bottom three QBs here in projected points by my calculations. If you can’t get any of the top three QBs, it’s best to just throw out a $1 bid on any of the last three QBs and hope that no one outbids you.

Running Back

Christian McCaffrey – $30
James Conner – $23
James White – $19
Sony Michel – $16
Nyheim Hines – $13
Carlos Hyde – $10
Phillip Lindsay – $8
Isaiah Crowell – $8
Kenyan Drake – $5
Tarik Cohen – $3
Austin Ekeler – $2
Mike Davis – $1

As you can see, McCaffrey is the clear pay-up spot at the RB category. According to my projections, he has a nine-point edge over the bottom RB, Mike Davis, and a five-point edge over the average RB. The next tier we have is Conner, White, and Michel, who are a decent amount above the rest of the RBs. If you don’t get McCaffrey or he doesn’t show up before these guys, I’d try to get one of these guys in the tier two of RB.

Outside of the top four RBs, it’s better to just find RBs that you can get underpriced, meaning that if you can get Hyde of Hines for five or six dollars, you pounce on it and save your money for other spots on your roster.

Wide Receiver

Adam Thielen – $27
Tyreek Hill – $24
A.J. Green – $19
JuJu Smith-Schuster – $16
Robert Woods – $15
Tyler Boyd – $14
Tyler Lockett – $5
Chris Godwin – $4
Robby Anderson – $4
Kenny Stills – $3
Mike Williams – $3
Keelan Cole – $1

As you can see, WR is drastically different from QB and RB. There are three very different tiers, with the top two being tier one and three through six being tier two before a drastic drop-off for the rest in tier three. My suggestion for WR is to try and get any of the Tier 1 or 2 WRs at under value if you can. Don’t wait around for Thielen or Hill to get on the board, because if you wait too long you could end up getting stuck with one of the Tier 3 WRs.

Tight End

Travis Kelce – $27
Trey Burton – $8
Cameron Brate – $8
Vance McDonald – $2
David Njoku – $1
Geoff Swaim – $1

As you can clearly see, TE is pretty much Kelce or bust. Now, the tough part here with draft strategy is if you wait and try to get Kelce and he doesn’t show up until the end, you could end up not getting him and then you’re stuck with way too much money on the board and a bad overall team. If Kelce comes up early, I would suggest going for him, as he draws the largest fantasy points above replacement here. If you can’t get Kelce, Brate or Burton are the next pay-up options, but they are not drastically better than any of the other options here. Best to just pay up for Kelce if possible and if not just wait until the end or see if you can get Brate or Burton under value.

Thanks for reading guys. Just a quick reminder that you should always be willing and able to adjust on the fly here with this Fanball auction draft format, and don’t leave money on the board if possible.
