MLB $555K Mega Full Count Review: Tuesday, July 18th
The Grinder review series will provide the reader with a breakdown of the exposures of “top of the leaderboard” players, the top single-entry lineup, and a comparison between all single-entry lineups and professionals for large slate DraftKings GPPs.
This week, we looked at the Mega Full Count [$100K to 1st!] on DraftKings with a buy-in of $55 and maximum entry limit of 150 lineups per person.
Multi-Entry Grinders of the Game
Dahladino, like many of the pros, loaded up on a healthy portion of Clayton Kershaw on a slate with not too many lock-in options. On the batting side of things, he leaned heavily towards the usual: COL, NYY, LAD, and SD. However, the stacks he favored from the middling teams (4.8 – 5.4 projected runs) were KC, OAK, and DET. His spread ownership netted him a cash rate of 39.2%, but more importantly, a 9th place finish. With how much ownership he had in Chris Davis and the heart of the DET stack, he narrowly missed cashing in large.
SaahilSud followed onto the Kershaw train and shored up the rest of his pitching with Chris Smith in a positive matchup (and freeing up large amounts of salary). On the batting side, he also focused on some strong bats in positive matchups (Gary Sanchez, Rougned Odor, Troy Tulowitzki, and Carlos Gonzalez). However, with just twelve lineups in play, this could be expected in order to try to reach that 100k first place finish. While he wasn’t able to achieve that, Saahid topped out with a 34th place finish and cashed on five lineups overall.
ThatStunna didn’t include as much Kershaw in order to play a large percentage of the Rockies, but instead honed in on Adam Conley in a promising matchup versus the Phillies. Whil he had some troubling games in the past, the Phillies were only projected to score 4.2 runs and featured an ISO of 0.232 and 14.5% swinging strike rate. On the bats, he obviously favored the Tigers and got a healthy amount of Nick Castellanos. With that being said, he did miss on Trevor Story and Miguel Cabrera. Although it wasn’t enough to propel him onto the top of the leaderboards, he featured a very healthy 70% cash rate and topped out with a 99th place finish.
Single-Entry Winner of the Game
Marvindog faded Clayton Kershaw, which with a pedestrian (for him) line of 28.95 points, and took Michael Wacha as his high priced pitcher instead. It panned out as Wacha pitched a complete game shutout against the modest Mets. He favored the Yankees and hit the 1, 2, 3, 5 spots while avoiding the donut Matt Holliday put up in the cleanup spot. To add to that, he hit on the two hottest bats of the night, Nick Castellanos and Chris Davis. Overall, it wasn’t enough to take down the $100k as he was 3 points off from first, so he will just have to settle for $40k.
