I hope everyone had an amazing weekend and are ready to get back to grinding with an eight game slate tonight. We also have March Madness right around the corner and baseball is less than a month away. As a sports fan, this is one of my favorite times of the year. The Bulls are still alive in the playoff hunt in the East, but they are playing like a team that is tanking. Their rotations seem to change every night and none of the players seem very interested in winning. Chicago draws a difficult matchup against the Hornets, who are ranked tenth in points allowed per game and eighth in defensive efficiency. The Bulls have the second lowest implied total in the slate at 96.3 points.
You know when you walk into a casino and see the Roulette wheel and you want to make a quick bet even though you know the odds are the worst in the casino (outside of the slots)? I compare that to targeting one of the point guards from the Bulls. You know it’s a bad decision, so why do it? Dwyane Wade is only $6,700 on DraftKings, but he has limited minute upside and a mediocre matchup against the Hornets. If the Bulls get down early, Wade will be the first starter to sit in the fourth quarter. Jimmy Butler has only scored over 40 fantasy points two times in his last seven games. With all of the value in the slate, it’s easy to get up to Butler, but there are superstars that I prefer over him in this slate. It appears that Nikola Mirotic is out of the rotation, but that hasn’t done much for the fantasy production of Bobby Portis. The only interesting big man here is Robin Lopez, but there are better values in a slate that is filled with injuries.

The Hornets have won five of their last ten games, but need to go on a serious run if they want to make the playoffs. They are currently three and a half games behind the Bucks for the eighth and final spot in the East. Luckily, Charlotte draws a winnable game at home against the struggling Bulls. The issue from a fantasy perspective is the expected pace of the game. With both teams ranked in the bottom half of the league in pace, it’s no surprise that this game has such a low over/under. The Hornets have an implied total of 103.3 points, which is two points lower than their season average.
Kemba Walker has been on a tear over the last two weeks. The only bad fantasy outing that he had during that stretch was against the Magic in a game where he only played 24 minutes. His minutes and usage rate are both up in his last five games, which helps the sustainability of this run. Walker is a borderline elite play against a Bulls’ defense that is ranked 23rd in adjusted DvP against point guards. Nicolas Batum is listed as questionable with a migraine. If he is unable to suit up, Jeremy Lamb would likely slide into the starting lineup and become an excellent value play. If Batum is active, we can go right back to the well, after averaging 36 fantasy points in his last five games. Frank Kaminsky made it through shoot-around and is expected to play tonight. His return should cut into the minutes of both Marvin Williams and Cody Zeller. I am going to wait a game or two before targeting these three in order to see their frontcourt rotation.

The Mavericks were on a pace to make up some ground on the Nuggets and Blazers, but couldn’t pick up a win at home against the Suns. They now need to go on the road and beat the Raptors in Toronto to keep pace in the West. The Raptors have slowed their pace of play since the Kyle Lowry injury and their defense has improved. They are now ranked eighth in points allowed per game on the season. The Mavericks are only listed as 4-point underdogs tonight, but their implied total of 95.8 points is the lowest in the slate. Unless there is a major injury update from one of these teams, this will be the obvious game to fade in the slate.
In the first two games since J.J. Barea has returned to the lineup, Yogi Ferrell has played 32 and 27 minutes. Barea’s playing time is only going to increase, which will cut into Ferrell’s minutes and fantasy production. As long as they are both healthy, they are easy fades in DFS. Seth Curry has played well since the All-Star break, averaging 20 points, three rebounds, and three assists per game. He technically draws a decent matchup against DeMar DeRozan, but he is no longer playing back-up point guard with Barea back in the mix. Harrison Barnes is still cheap on FanDuel at a price of $6,100 and we know Serge Ibaka is a better defender in the low post than he is on the perimeter. If you need a mid-range play on FanDuel, you can do worse than Barnes. It will be interesting to see if the Mavericks go big or if the Raptors go small. Dirk Nowitzki won’t be able to defend Jonas Valanciunas, but will have a major mismatch on offense. I don’t mind using Nowitzki in tournaments, but this is one of those games that has very little fantasy appeal as a whole.

The Raptors have lost two games in a row and are in danger of dropping to the fifth seed in the East. Home-court advantage may be as important to the Raptors as it is to any other team in the conference, so they will do everything they can here in the last month of the season. They draw a pace-down matchup tonight against the Mavericks, who are ranked third in points allowed per game and tenth in defensive efficiency. Even though they are playing at home, the Raptors have the worst projected point differential on the board at -7.6 points.
Cory Joseph has been a serviceable value play in cash games, but he plays at the most stacked position in all of DFS. Teams are constantly throwing double and triple teams at DeMar DeRozan and it has killed his fantasy production. He remains an easy fade in a pace-down game against Dallas. If DeMarre Carroll is out, you can give Norman Powell a look if he draws another start. Serge Ibaka and Jonas Valanciunas are intriguing tournament plays against a Mavericks’ team that is ranked dead last in rebounding differential this season.

The Wizards are not in a back-to-back situation, but this is their fifth road game in the last seven days. I keep waiting for this team to hit a wall, but they are going for their sixth straight win in a row. This should be a fun game to watch, as both teams are in great form. The Wolves have really picked up their play on both ends of the floor since the All-Star break. On the season, they have allowed the eighth fewest fantasy points per game. The Wizards are listed as 1.5-point underdogs with an implied total of 106.5 points. While their team total is the fourth highest in the slate, it is considerably lower (2.7 points) than their season average.
John Wall has been one of the most consistent superstars in DFS this season. He may not dip into the 70 fantasy point range very often, but he has scored at least 40 fantasy points in 14 of his last 16 games. When 40 fantasy points is his floor, he should always warrant consideration in cash games. Ricky Rubio has quietly been a good defender this season, but Wall is a viable play in cash games with all of the value present in this slate. Bradley Beal is averaging 41 fantasy points in his last five games and has seen a boost in both minutes and usage. His price has come up across the industry, but deservedly so. I will continue to fade the likes of Otto Porter, Markieff Morris, and Marcin Gortat. With Bojan Bogdanovic and Ian Mahinmi playing so well off the bench, the starter’s minutes aren’t as secure as they once were.

The Wolves may be a little late to make a run at the playoffs this season, but they are only three and a half games back with a month to go. They have really played well since the All-Star break and it hasn’t been thanks to an easy schedule. Tonight they host the visiting Wizards, who have also been in great form over the last couple of months. On the season, Washington is ranked 22nd in points allowed per game and 14th in defensive efficiency. They could be playing on tired legs, as they are playing their fifth game in seven days. The Wolves have an implied total of 108 points, which is the third highest in the slate and 3.3 points above their season average.
With so many great places to look for value tonight, I expect the Wolves to go under-owned tonight with the potential exception of Karl-Anthony Towns. In fact, the mid-range as a whole could go under-owned in this slate. Ricky Rubio has been one of my favorite targets at point guard over the last few weeks and that isn’t going to change tonight. He is averaging 39 fantasy points in his last five games and his usage rate is up 4.1% during that stretch. The best part is that he is still affordable on both FanDuel and DraftKings. Andrew Wiggins has been in awful form over the last two weeks, but does have a nice track record against the Wizards. I don’t mind buying low on Wiggins in tournaments. We’ve seen the type of upside that he possesses. Towns can take over a game at any time and as I continue to mention, there are a ton of good value plays available tonight. The more value that opens up, the easier it is to fit these superstars.

The Hawks would typically be double-digit underdogs in this spot, but the Spurs are going to be without Tony Parker, LaMarcus Aldridge, and potentially Kawhi Leonard. While that should help the Hawks keep the game close, it doesn’t exactly help their potential fantasy production. The Spurs are a slow paced team that prides itself on its play defensively. On the season, San Antonio is ranked second in points allowed per game and first in defensive efficiency. The Hawks have an implied total of only 97.3 points, which is the third lowest in the slate and 6.8 points below their season average.
No matter how you slice it, this is an awful matchup for the Hawks. On a site like FanDuel that doesn’t have dynamic pricing, Atlanta is an easy team to fade in all formats. However, DraftKings does a nice job of pricing players low enough that they at least deserve recognition. Dennis Schroder is only $6,100, despite averaging 37 fantasy points in his last five games. Patty Mills is not a good defender by any means and Schroder should see a full complement of minutes at a nice discount. Paul Millsap is also priced to move on DraftKings at $6,900. Without LaMarcus Aldridge in the lineup, he will square off against the aging David Lee. Even though the Hawks’ implied total is low, I have interest in both Schroder and Millsap on DraftKings.

The Spurs appeared to rest everyone the other night against the Warriors, but it now looks like their players are actually dealing with injuries. Tony Parker, LaMarcus Aldridge, and Dejounte Murray have all been ruled out of tonight’s game and there is a good chance that Kawhi Leonard could join them. Concussions are always tough to predict, as we have seen players come back in anywhere from two days to three weeks. Even without knowing Leonard’s status, the Spurs are listed as 6-point favorites tonight against the Hawks. Their implied total may be lower than their season average, but the injuries open the door for a number of plays on the Spurs.
Patty Mills had a big game against the Warriors, scoring 30 fantasy points in 21 minutes of action. What most people won’t realize is that Mills was taken out with six minutes left in the third quarter and he never subbed back in thanks to the blowout. With Tony Parker and Dejounte Murray out, Mills has 30 minute type of upside. He also sees a nice usage boost with LaMarcus Aldridge and potentially Kawhi Leonard out as well. There are some great values in the slate, but none that I like more than Mills. Danny Green basically has the same usage rate regardless of who is on the floor. He could see a small minute boost if Leonard is out, but in that scenario, I would much rather target Kyle Anderson. On the season, Anderson is averaging 0.73 fantasy points per minute and he would see a nice usage and minutes bump if Leonard is ruled out. If Leonard is cleared to play, he would step right in as one of the top overall plays in the slate. In the seven games that Aldridge has missed this season, David Lee has averaged 25 minutes and 25.5 fantasy points per contest. He is another great value play from the Spurs tonight, even though the Hawks do have a tough frontcourt. Pau Gasol is always worth a look in tournaments. The minute upside may not be there, but he has a massive usage rate when on the floor.

After Jabari Parker went down with his season-ending injury, I didn’t think the Bucks had enough talent to make a push for the playoffs. They are clearly proving me wrong and I’m glad to see it happen. If the regular season ended today, they would sneak in as the eighth seed in the East. Tonight they head to Memphis for one of the worst matchups in all of fantasy basketball. On the season, the Grizzlies are ranked sixth or better in points allowed per game and defensive efficiency. the Bucks have an implied total of only 98 points, which is 7.1 points below their season average. I hope there are people that want to play Giannis Antetokounmpo tonight. While he can always get enough blocks and steals to make value, this is an awful matchup on the offensive end of the floor. The Grizzlies have an elite rim protector and they will force him to take jump shots, which isn’t the strength of his game. I will be fading the Bucks as a whole and that includes Khris Middleton and Greg Monroe as well.

The Grizzlies are trending in the wrong direction with a month left to play in the season. They have lost five games in a row, including a blowout loss to the Hawks at home the other night. Their current form is why the spread for tonight’s game is set at only four points. We have some tremendous games to target in this slate, so I plan to have very exposure to one that has an over/under of 200 points. The Grizzlies implied total is close to their season average, but this isn’t what I would call a favorable matchup. The Bucks are ranked above the league average in points allowed per game and fantasy points allowed per game.
Mike Conley struggled against the Clippers and Hawks, but has otherwise been in great form. Even with those two bad outings, he is still averaging 36.5 fantasy points in his last five games. Matthew Dellavedova is known as a pesky defender, but he actually has a DRPM of -1.71 this season. We’ve seen Conley succeed in much tougher matchups than this one. I still prefer Ricky Rubio at a slight discount, but Conley can be targeted in tournaments. Marc Gasol is cheap on DraftKings once again at $7,300 and we know that the best way to attack Milwaukee is at center. On the season, they are ranked 23rd in adjusted DvP against centers and 22nd in rebounding differential. I expect a nice bounce back game from Gasol and I’m more than willing to pay the $7,300 price tag. Outside of Conley and Gasol, there isn’t a lot to love on the Grizzlies’ side of the ball.
