Washington Wizards

The Wizards will play their second consecutive road game to start the season and travel to Memphis tonight. Markieff Morris has been playing great and should continue his stellar play tonight. He was dealing with some foul trouble against the Hawks on Thursday, otherwise he would exploded for more. He’s still only $5.6k on both sites and should be able to exceed value in a close game. The only concern is that he will have to guard Zach Randolph in crunch time. John Wall is an elite PG and is also priced like one. He’s a safe cash game option because he should play 32-34 minutes in this game. The upside could still be there but PG is really deep today and Wall does not have to be forced in there.

When watching the Wizards first game, I noticed Wall was hesitant to go in the paint when Howard was present. We have a similarly imposing presence with Marc Gasol tonight. Wall’s shot a miserable 20% against the Hawks and even if he gets it to 40% tonight, it might be tough to exceed value on the road. Wall feeds off the energy of his home crowd and does not get that in the Grind House tonight. Bradley Beal is a one trick pony and if he’s not scoring he’s not really contributing. Andrew Nicholson is on the radar because Ian Mahinmi is out and he’s being used at both PF and C off the bench. He’s not someone you have to jam in, but his price and minutes are just too good to totally ignore on a decent sized slate.

Memphis Grizzlies

The Grizzlies lost to the Knicks last night and play again tonight against the uptempo Wizards. Expect Marc Gasol minutes to be limited on the second night of a back-to-back. Zach Randolph should also have his minutes somewhat limited tonight. Randolph only played 21 minutes last night and 25 minutes the game before, so expect him to stay in that range for this game. JaMychal Green has averaged 29.5 minutes to start the season and could see a slight bump in minutes if Randolph and Gasol are limited. Jarrell Martin played 13 minutes and had 19.25 DK fantasy points last night. He could play 18 minutes tonight and is a worthy GPP option with his salary at the minimum on both sites.

Mike Conley is an strong PG option tonight against the Wizards but the second night of a back-to-back is concerning. Wade Baldwin played 22 minutes against the Knicks last night and should see 22-25 again tonight. He did not help any fantasy owners out last night, but he is still a viable secondary option if the Grizzlies limit Conley at all. His price is only $3.3k on DraftKings but a pretty expensive $4.5k on FanDuel.

Dallas Mavericks

The Mavs burned a lot of people scratching Nowitzki 5 minutes before lock on Friday. Hope it did not burn too many of you and you had the RG App downloaded to receive urgent alerts. Nowitzki is on track to play against the Rockets tonight but we likely won’t find out until after lineups lock with the early start today. He is on track to play but nothing official has come out at this time. It makes a huge difference with him in there, so I’ll analyze the team projecting him to play.

Harrison Barnes stepped up in a huge way with Nowitzki out of the lineup but also now saw his salary jump a bit due to the consecutive good games. He gets another nice matchup playing the Rockets again but it seems his ownership should be higher too due to the explosion. Don’t totally consider fading him because of perceived ownership, but Dirk is in a nice spot and $100 cheaper than Barnes on DraftKings. Barnes is much cheaper than Nowitzki on FanDuel and is a much better play over there if you play both sites and want the exposure. Deron Williams is getting the minutes and could see his ownership drop a little since he did not exceed value on Friday. He’s a viable tournament option with the Mavs having the 5th highest team total. He’ll get a lot of P&P (pick-and-pop) action with Dirk and could get open looks if the defense stays out on Nowitzki. Wesley Mathews was the primary defender on Harden and will continue to be that again tonight.

Secondary Plays – Justin Anderson, Wesley Matthews

Houston Rockets

The Rockets were able to defeat the Mavs on Friday due to Eric Gordon and Trevor Ariza. Tonight they return home in the rematch and might have a different trick up their sleeve. Harden disappointed owners with 48.75 DK fantasy points and could go overlooked tonight with all the attention on the Warriors and Thunder. The Rockets still have the 2nd highest team total on the slate and will put up buckets. He has struggled against the defense of Wesley Matthews for a while, making him a better tournament option than cash. His floor is still very high so he’s viable in all formats. Ryan Anderson, the squeeky wheel, did not play well in Dallas but is an excellent GPP option at home.

Eric Gordon is averaging 30 DK fantasy points on the season and will likely garner the highest level of ownership with his price still very playable. He’s getting the minutes and the volume so he is useable in all formats. Trevor Ariza had a great game on Friday but is pretty inconsistent and is a GPP option as well but does not have to be forced in with so many good SFs on the slate today. Clint Capela and Nene are in a virtual time share, limiting eachothers upside.
