Luckily for the Arizona Coyotes, they haven’t been taking many penalties because if they did they could be in for a rude awakening tonight. Arizona has only taken 15 penalties in the last eight games while the oilers have scored four goals while enjoying the man advantage over the last two games. Leon Draisaitl makes a nice one-off play here as he skates from the third line but has eight points over the last five games. The same could be said for defensemen Oscar Klefbom, as he has tallied four points over that same time period. Both players get the extra minutes on the top power play unit along with first liners Connor McDavid and Milan Lucic and second liner Jordan Eberle. While it’s very tough to fade McDavid the second line of Eberle, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Jesse Puljujarvi may be the GPP play of the night against an Arizona team that is dead last in the Western Conference. It seems as though Edmonton has snapped out of their funk just in time to stay in first place in the Pacific Divison, as they have scored 16 goals over the last three games, all of which they have won.
Arizona is almost the polar opposite of the Edmonton Oilers as they have only won one game out of the last six games they have played. They have only managed 10 goals in those six games so it’s going to be a challenge to find anyone worth rostering from this team tonight. Third liner Tobias Rieder has three of those 10 goals while first liner radim Vrbata has netted two goals and has grabbed an assist over that same time period. I guess the play here is Vrbata, Max Domi and Martin Hanzal as they do indeed make up the team’s first line. Domi and Vrbata lead the team in points with 13 and 12 respectively through the first 18 games. Oliver Ekman-Larsson is usually a good play on the back line but newcomer Anthony DeAngelo may be the play here, as he has tallied five points in his first seven games so far this season. With 10 other games on the slate, it may be best suited if you look elsewhere for your cash game plays tonight.
