Sports Info Solutions: MLB DFS Advice for Tuesday, August 14th

America’s pastime and daily fantasy sports are a perfect fit with an overload of data and statistics to analyze before making your lineup selections.
Because of the amount of information available to the DFS player, it can be a bit overwhelming, so I’ve tried to help you out by recommending a number of well-priced options by using Sports Info Solutions’ “SIS Model 3”.
SIS Model 3 gives DFS players an edge when setting their lineups as it uses the most expansive and accurate wealth of baseball data to create a tested DFS algorithm. You can learn more about the development of the algorithm in the RotoGrinders Marketplace.
Pitching Option

Alex Wood, Los Angeles Dodgers (FD Price $8,400)
Wood has yielded two runs or less in eight of his last 10 outings and just one run in his last two starts. He’ll face a Giants team which has forgotten how to hit over the past 30 days (.289 wOBA), but knows how to strike out (22.6 K %).
Hitting Options
C/1B) Yonder Alonso, Cleveland Indians (FD Price $3,300)
This pick is all about the opposing pitcher Sal Romano. He’s allowed a .376 wOBA to LHB this season and a .396 wOBA at home in the Great American Ball Park. Alonso owns a modest .341 wOBA against RHP and a .355 wOBA on the road.
2B) Niko Goodrum, Detroit Tigers (FD Price $2,500)
Here is another opposing starter who can’t solve lefties, Lucas Giolito is allowing a .373 wOBA to LHB. The switch-hitting Goodrum owns a .333 wOBA at home against RHP.
3B) Justin Turner, Los Angeles Dodgers (FD Price $3,400)
Turner has spent much of the year sidelined by injury, but he’s back and smashing the baseball at a .400 batting average and .504 wOBA in August. Righty Andrew Suarez has had a tough August allowing the opposition a .468 wOBA.
SS) Asdrubal Cabrera, Philadelphia Phillies (FD Price $3,200)
Cabrera is a viable option versus RHP (.365 wOBA) and has finally gotten comfortable in the Phillies lineup after a slow start. He owns a .382 wOBA in August.
OF) Michael Brantley, Cleveland Indians (FD Price $3,900)
The Indians’ lefty loves RHP (.315 BA, .374 wOBA) and as we saw with Alonso earlier, Romano struggles with left-handers.
OF) A.J. Pollock, Arizona Diamondbacks (FD Price $3,500)
Pollock has been solid when available (he’s only played 74 games due to injury). He’s produced a .364 wOBA against RHP. Don’t be scared off by Gallardo’s 7-1 record, it comes with a high 6.11 ERA and a .376 wOBA to RHB.
OF) Michael Conforto, New York Mets (FD Price $3,500)
He’s produced a .409 wOBA since the All-Star break and for the season he’s got a .402 wOBA against RHP away from Citi Field.
UTIL) Brandon Nimmo, New York Mets (FD Price $3,300)
Nimmo may only be a .249 overall hitter, but he owns a .388 wOBA against RHP and faces right-hander Andrew Cashner, who allows LHB a .354 wOBA.
Stacking Option
When it comes time to draft a fantasy baseball team in DFS, stacking is a widely accepted strategy. There’s a reason: it works. If you want to win big, you will need a gigantic score, and stacking makes it easier to rack up the points because the scoring of batters in a given lineup is interrelated. Batters reaching base allows the hitters down the line to drive them in, creating something of a snowball effect.
Cleveland Indians
We’ve installed Brantley and Alonso in our lineup and if you could somehow squeeze Francisco Lindor ($4700) and Jose Ramirez ($5000) under the budget cap, you would own a dynamic stack.
